I'm debating if selling 10 puts here makes sense. They could just be bought out by the parent. Bought FNF, JXN, DB and FRC preferred lotto ticket.
Saluki Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Bought some VTS and OXY with the last of my proceeds from the ATCO squeezeout.
Red Lion Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Bought some CLPR today. I have $5 calls expiring in June - September. My thinking here is that I will sell the calls for a loss after 30 days, unless the price rebounds in which case I can still exercise and be around a full position.
Xerxes Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Good lord ! No one is interested in buying the dip on CharlesSchawb !
tede02 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I bought some more brokered CDs (1, 2 & 3 yr) yielding over 5% with idle cash.

But you have a two-faced monster. You have an industry heavy weight with enormous (and latent) earning power. You also have a bank with M2M negative tangible equity. I'd lean towards buying. But you have to consider the risk of a dilutive equity raise or years of low earnings. For me, the deciding factor is that management made a huge (and obvious!) mistake with their balance sheet. I'd rather invest alongside Thomas Peterffy. But definitely tempted...

Red Lion Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Are the brokered CD’s fdic insured up to 250k? I was reading that they might not be?
CorpRaider Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) The documents related to my purchases said they were FDIC insured but cautioned to check the overall cap against other exposures to the borrowing institution. Edited March 24, 2023 by CorpRaider
Spekulatius Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I forgot who brought it up - but I did like MBB.DE (German Holding co) good enough to buy a few shares: https://www.mbb.com/ir/praesentationen.html I think it's pretty cheap as well. Added to a few positions in LUV, NTDOY etc.
CorpRaider Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) (In the voice of Charles Dickens) Bard said it likes $LUV more than $SAVE fyi @Spekulatius. haha Edited March 24, 2023 by CorpRaider
Saluki Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 added a little Coupang. Not any particular news, but I've been thinking about diversifying globally as well as across industries. Ideally with compounders instead of cyclicals. Coupang (CPNG) (probably 1/2 the position size I want, but I'm already fully deployed) Fairfax India (FFXDF): India (could add some more) Televisa (TV): Mexico (full position) Alibaba (BABA): China (full position) I've been thinking about a good one for South America, but although Petrobras looks cheap, It's a cyclical. I really admire what Mercado Libre has done and how it's managed, but it's too rich for my blood. Tigo Millicom I've looked at but can't pull the trigger. Anyone have any suggestions for cheap latin american companies with compounder potential?
LC Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 PSMT? Spek likes it. Not sure about cheap but maybe for the watchlist.
Viking Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 SU. Looks like financial panic is abating. So oil, which got absolutely crushed over the past 2 weeks, is popping higher... makes perfect sense Oil stocks, like SU, look crazy cheap.
