lnofeisone Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 This gets clunky. Losses on your investments are first offset by the gains of the same type (so short-term to short-term and long-term to long-term). After that net losses are deducted against the opposite gain. If you have a long-term loss and want to manage your tax position, you are better off selling short-term gainers (i think you call this high tax basis). This assumes that you have no long-term gainers that you sold. You can sell a short-term gainer and buy it for 1 penny higher and you are clear of wash rules.

backtothebeach Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Sold a bunch of ATVI October 90 puts. Pennies and steamrollers, I know…

dipod Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Sold some 9/22 OSTK $17.50 puts. Pretty decent premium and attractive stock to own if assigned.

No risk and the same pay off as the 90s you are trading. Tried to sell 1 October box at the bid ($2.67), unsurprisingly wasn't filled as a spread trade. Don't feel like legging in. Also, the short $95 put would likely be assigned early, which is a lot of margin for making $17 before commissions.

Yeah, entering these is a pain and I usually do it via verticals. I've had 95 put for a bit now, no assignment yet.
Saluki Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Sold the NETI in my retirement account. Still have the shares in my taxable account. Bought a little NTDOY with the proceeds and the rest is sitting in cash.

backtothebeach Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Sold some VSCO October 15 puts @0.36. IV is ~70%. Return is 30%+ annualized on max risk. Sorry @LearningMachine if VSCO tanks before October 20th it's my fault lol.
Paarslaars Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Sold my STG position. Still believe in the stock but finding better things to buy and I'm already invested 110%.
frommi Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Sold out of Karelia Tobacco. Share price has gone up while the earnings have declined, so this was not a hard decision and i have better opportunities right now.
rkbabang Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Sold JXN today for $40.40, bought it about 6 months ago a little over $28 and I received $1.24 in dividends as well. I just set an alert for myself if it goes below $29 again.
