DRM News [January 17th 2026] : US Lawmakers Reject Trump's Greenland Takeover Talk, Stress Denmark Alliance | AC1G

This is the way to go.

Nice to see and hear, that there are persons involved, who practices discussion for mutual understanding, based on reason and rational thinking.

That said, I speculate there exists confusion internally in POTUS' cabinet about what POTUS is doing and saying related to Greenland.

As far as I've understood of the 11, 2 rebublicans, all 11 going back in their individual political networks with achieved findings, information, impressions and assessments.

Nice to see, but Congress is controlled ultimately by a MAGA majority for now and won’t do much if Trump starts a Greenland adventure.

From a 64,000 foot vantage point it can't be bad for the people of Greenland to be the object of a bidding war.  They just need to navigate the process to their best advantage.

@73 Reds,

Yes, in a way, it is a bidding war, but the Southern Danes aren't bidding up.

It's more like 'take it, or leave it', not one word from any Southern Dane politican about a proposal for an increase of the annual block grant by now [, there are dumb, stupid politicians in Southern Denmark, too].

@73 Reds, I've earlier told a bit about Inuit culture. It's very special.

Here, the sentiment is 'If the bird wants to fly, let it fly', - and that's across the whole political spectrum.

State of affairs this Saturday morning:

The true Greenland conspiracy - loser parasites need a fresh host (they're as ugly as their wives - I think we are getting close to the root of the problem):

https://newrepublic.com/article/205102/oligarchs-pushing-conquest-greenland-trump

Not to worry, while the unloved and underendowed oligarchs of the West attempt to suck the life out of Greenland, you too can feast on a healthy and affordable Trump meal!

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-goons-boast-they-ran-1000-simulations-to-create-tragic-3-meal/

On the other end of both the income and intelligence spectrum, the oversupplied (but similarly underendowed) goon squad continue their warrant-less terror campaign.

Where's the war, you ask? It's right at home! (too expensive to export with the tariff war, I suppose)

But that wouldn't impact you, right? Just make sure you're not driving home with your child in the car, not in Trump's America.

Remember, it's YOUR FAULT!

Thanks for tuning into another Saturday morning shitfest! Troubling times in the kingdom...

To all our non-American posters, while we do appreciate your sympathy, we kindly ask you to join in our daily prayers for a loose blood clot.

What happened to the "Don't Tread on Me" crowd? Unaccountable masked federal agents terrorizing the country and snatching people off the street, where is the outrage?

@Spooky,

lol! - It's basically out of the hands of Denmark now.

Let's see what the response, reaction will be from EU [Ursula von der Leyn], and separately from Norway [, not an EU member, I have also mentioned the strategic situation about Svalbard earlier].

I really do love how you avoid the truth about ICE and cities and mayors that cooperate with ICE.

Stunning reversals in crime:

In 2025, Memphis saw:

  • A 27% decrease in overall Part I crimes
  • A 26% decrease in murders
  • A 22% decrease in aggravated assaults
  • A 31% decrease in robberies
  • A 48% decrease in carjackings

Nearly 500 fewer Memphians were injured in shootings in 2025. The city recorded 643 incidents—400 fewer than in 2024, a 38% decrease—reflecting a significant drop in the impact of gun violence across our neighborhoods.

Compared to 2023, Memphis has seen sustained improvements:

  • Overall crime is down 41%

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Just wondering what independent source provided those stats?

I think EU should move to War against the US if they pull off any military intervention in Greenland. And we should ask China for help to win it and remove Trump from office.

International trade has to be rethought big. Canada already shifting towards China. Trump is doing our continent a huge favour by strenghtening eurasia and isolating the US internationally. Its actually a gift to europeans and not to americans.

It would be a truly hilarious outcome that Trump starts WW3 by invading greenland after blaming selensky to start it lol

Imagine how much trump is harming the international trust in their institutions and companies. Under biden everyone in europe was big on US as an ally etc and now countries get rid of Microsoft - we are sending soldiers to protect Greenland...I mean i would have never thought to imagine not using a US broker or using US ETFs but we are literally at a point in time where you have to think about a delisting of US stocks from a non US perspective.

The EU should invoke Article 42.7 to provide all "means in their power" short of direct invasion of the US. This includes seizing all US assets in Europe, a total trade embargo, and providing Denmark with intelligence and defensive equipment. And then if they dont leave there is no alternative than attacking US soldiers starting a war with the US. Change my mind.

Toronto saw similar decreases in homicides...maybe ICE is playing gestapo over there too?

No matter, I too can reduce murders to zero by mandating de-facto martial law and enforcing it with an unaccountable goonsquad!

But similarly, I love how you avoid commenting on ICE's unconstitutional activities.

Saturdays are great! 😎👍

I’ll happily eat those 10% tariffs.  He seems to think the West is his fiefdom to do as he wants.  Europe should put lots of troops in Greenland and just ignore him.  Denmark should ask the US to leave the military base.  I doubt he is going to get a declaration of war through Congress to militarily take it.

Respectfully towards all, I forgot to include United Kingdom together with Norway here.

Edit :

Btw : Greenland is not a member of EU! [, while Denmark is].

Wise up.  Just apply 10% reciprocal tariffs.

Gotta just love Trump!

In regard to Greenland, what do you think?

I wholeheartedly agree Europe was free loading on the US defence spending for decades.

I draw the line at threatening to take territory not belonging to you, territory which belongs to your allies.

There has been some discussion about Trump playing an angle, looking to negotiate some kind of deal.  I don’t believe that to be the case.

@Sweet Trump sees this as a form of remuneration.  You see, the Left only goes for remuneration when it benefits an alleged oppressed class and is paid for by parties that had absolutely nothing to do with prior atrocities.
