From the 17th through the 19th, Buffett bought almost 9 million shares of OXY stock. Since the 10-day average volume is about 14.5 million shares, that means Buffett bought approximately 20% of all the shares traded in just those three days. I find it interesting because I can recall him explaining how he bought 20% of the volume the first go-round.

Is this a limit for him?

Does he start experiencing problems when he tries moving above this figure?

Do you mean 20% per day or 50% total? BRK has government approval to buy up to 50% of OXY.

Stock ownership:

August, 2022: 20%

December, 2023: 27.8%

December, 2024: 28.15%

I will be buying OXY in 2025.

I mean 20% of OXY’s daily volume.

Starter in AN

I’ve stared at AN for a while now, never been able to pull the trigger on it.  Buy back history is unreal.  A real cannibal.

I bought a single share of VRSN. I've read the annual report, what's here, and a few seeking alpha articles. I like the company,  but it's too expensive right now.

I have a medium-sized position in VRSN. They are probably not ”enlightened” enough to release any ”AI” products like GoDaddy, but I think it's better than cash:

@formthirteen agreed. VRSN isn't going to set the world on fire, but i only need 8-9%. It has a high probability of outperforming cash with a low probability of impairment. Its a one foot hurdle.

TDOC

@KPO have you added/held to $TDOC position as price fell since the post? They hold the largest user base of any telehealth company and seem to be expanding across platforms to both outpatient and inpatient care. Telehealth generally doesn't have a moat. TDOC may be an exception in their worldwide foot print, relationships with insurers and governments. Stock is down 88% since Jan 2020- pre-Covid. Appears attractive?

I did. Doubled my position late this summer around $7.50. I hold it in a taxable account since it’s non-income producing, so I did a tax loss sale of some of the initial position, but I’ve been watching it closely of late.

Given the balance sheet and benefits of scale that have become increasingly evident in the financials the last year or so, I see this as a likely takeout candidate. I also liked that Walmart and a few others exited the telehealth business last year, so competitive intensity should be lower. Even if they aren’t taken out there’s a lot of optionality to the business in similar form to Netflix when they were mailing DVDs vs streaming.

I completely exited every china holding just a few min ago. Big pile of cash ready to be deployed in something else. I surrender finally 🙂

East West Bank has said that China and US tension is good for business.  Might be worth a look

Wait did you really? You were the ultimate bull on it, what changed or what did you view incorrectly?

I respect you for changing your mind. I agree there are some fundamental problems with investing in China - mainly the US (look what happened to citizens who owned Russian stocks).

With that said, why did you exit completely? I would have thought you'd be inclined to take keep them as 0.5% positions or so. With sizing like that it's "easy" to hold for decades, and who knows what can happen in that time period..
