Ignore him. He is a pompous windbag. But....clearly falls short of the gold standard that is The NY Times. After all, nothing says gold standard like internal higher ups admitting they knew Biden was toast but refused to report on it because they had a "duty" to keep Trump out of office LOL

it’s a statement conforming to our pre existing narratives

🤣 Nah just conforming to reality will do me - Trump, ever the fantasist salesman, on Saturday couldn't help selling a bullshit assessment of a mission to the American people on TV when an actual assessment was completely unknowable at the time he decided to make one.......I mean rooms buried deep inside giant mountains are devilishly hard to assess from 7500 miles away or from space...and so the President of the United States and his underlyings have spent the last three days tied up in word salads justifying, to put it kindly, an inaccurate statement he made on a very important matter of national security.....this is not how you run a railroad.

I mean all the guy had to say Saturday night was something like this:

"Tonight the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities in an effort to make the Middle East and the world a safer place.

The mission was completed with great bravery and skill by our US Air Force pilots using the most advanced military hardware in the world that only the United States has.

We hit all the targets exactly as planned and we will know in the coming days assess the damage that was done to Iran's nuclear aspirations. I'd like to thank the Air Force and our Defense department tonights mission is a testament to the strength, bravery and skill of our military forces. God bless the United States."

It's so unbelievably simple to execute on the above communication for somebody operating in something approximating reality......that Trump couldn't execute on it confirms what we already know......he's a bullshit artist on the little things (crowd size) but a bullshit artist even when it comes to the most important things like national security.

So this whole thing is over semantics? Nice

The session just ended. The most interesting thing right now is, what will NATO actually do about releasing it? - Rutte must be cringing, by now! 😆

If we’re really being honest, Donald Trump being president is the best thing that’s ever happened to the NYT.  Higher ups, shmigher ups. DJT is good for business at the NYT.

Now that is funny.

100%. NYT was dead until he got elected in 2016 and then plummeted when he left office with the narrative being he was done with politics. As it became apparent his comeback had legs, the stock recovered.

NYT basically needs Trumps media circus. Ironically, it’s monetizing its deranged and obsessed Trump hater base like a drug dealer sells to junkies.

Bloomberg - Politics [June 25th 2025] : Trump Threatens to Double Tariffs on Spain Over NATO Spending

Poor Spain got a NATO raincheck to sit something over on the bench without paying as others.

POTUS did not agree, but diden't create chaos by blocking.

So, now he is threatening Spain with separate tariffs to beat up the presumptuous for not complying with all others in NATO, while POTUS obviously still hasen't understood, that the EU is trade and tariff union, with a musketeer oath, so the whole EU will hit USA with same tariffs as what USA hits Spain with.

The man is simply a complete ignorant and idiot.

You can't find a bigger bag of blowhards than European leaders.

Oh, they're going to take on Putin, send troops, blah, blah, blah.

All talk and no action - complete opposite of POTUS - that's why they hate him.

Trump makes them all look like bickering children that will never grow up.

This whole thing about the effectiveness of the bombing - you have to look at the incentives for the parties to lie. So when you see the opposite ( a statement against interest) that's when you take note.

So Trump saying it was ineffective= the truth

Israel saying it was effective = the truth (they would rather it failed, so the US would go in again)

MSM saying it was effective= the truth (they dearly want it to have failed, it's the height of naivete to think otherwise)

Iran saying it was effective= the truth

That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. The fact Iran wants a cease-fire, and wants to negotiate, checks the box for 'effective.'

P.S. remember "the first casualty of war is the truth."

None of what is reported or what anyone now says makes a hill of beans of difference.   This is a long overdue reset.  Anyone can think what they want of Trump but he made it happen, or at least set the course for a much brighter future for oppressed people in the region.  Iran is likely helpless; if it isn't now, Israel will ensure that it will be rendered militarily helpless.  That was and remains the objective.  Extremism has no place in today's World and Extremism coupled with nuclear weapons cannot be permitted to exist.  I agree with Cubs; the Europeans and the rest of the World are entirely useless in fighting this battle.  The moral compass displayed by the U.S. (meaning Trump, certainly not Biden or Obama) is responsible for what hopefully will be the ultimate destruction of repressive regimes and a real opportunity for people that for generations have had no chance whatsoever in life.  Apologists, liberals and anyone with an anti-western thinking agenda should take note but likely will instead continue to spout their usual hatred and nonsense while the World around them becomes a better place.  I'm OK with that.

The basic underlying problem at its roots is actually the same as in Russia : The lack of a polical culture and a democratic minded population, not willing to do what is needed to get the will of the poplation, in stead giving up and in, and just going with the flow of what ever any thug or group of thugs is willing to offer to or take from the population.

At best it will take two generations or so to fix it, certainly just not two decades. If it ever happens. The youth with the needed mindset mostly prefer to leave for greener grass and a better life somewhere else, in stead of risking live to catalyst change.

That's nothing but an excuse for gutless leadership that refuses to fix things.

Don't worry, Zelensky will fight your battles, while the Europeans jawbone the Russians.

The Israelis will take care of the leading state sponsor of terrorism while the Europeans practice and condone anti-semitism.

The USA will open and keep open the Red Sea and shipping channels while the Europeans do nothing, as usual.

Difficult problems require courage and bold leadership - sorely lacking in Europe.

Blake, you're a day late and a dollar (and many votes) short with that comment.  I'll take a convicted felon with a spine over Weekend at Bernies and a Nobel Peace Prize winner in name only anytime.   Trump is growing on me by the day and not because of anything he says.

What’s definitely more annoying than Trump himself, is the constant Hitlering of everything he says or does by the NYT writers and readers.  I’m convinced if they just reported what they said and weren’t actively trying to undermine and get him out of office he’d be a lot less popular.

Trump and his administration have a problem. Fewer and fewer people believe what he and his administration say.

And now the President and his supporters get frustrated because many, (except perhaps Cubs), believe little of what comes out of the White House these days. Obviously this is the result of all the exaggerated B.S. and outright lies that have have been coming from the President himself. The unfortunate result of Trump's wild exaggerations and outright lies is that the citizens of the Country and in fact, the general feeling in the rest of world is that they can no longer trust what comes from the Trump administration. Unfortunately this is the result of ripping up signed contracts and constant lies. It is a rather sad situation when a country losses it's credibility.

But Mr. Trump is the author of his own misfortune .

Hopefully no one will embarrass themself with the old "... but, but the other guy was worse" excuse.

Either two generations … or better yet a damn good Time Machine to go back to 1953 when there actually was democracy in Iran …. before ….

Trump was elected with the "problem" you describe.  If that is his greatest "problem" we're in fine shape.
