Unfortunately I was best man, and either my kids went or I couldn't be there. the majority of weddings I’ve been to, including mine, were no kids allowed, I think we had 175 people, invited 250, kids would have added maybe like 50 and it’s a giant party that goes late into night so not exactly a kids thing. People get childcare and have an awesome time
TwoCitiesCapital Posted Thursday at 02:53 PM Posted Thursday at 02:53 PM (edited) Lol I've had this exact thought before To be fair though - Aug 2011 was pretty damn close a to what was a top that wouldn't be passed until 2-years later. Edited Thursday at 02:54 PM by TwoCitiesCapital
backtothebeach Posted Thursday at 03:48 PM Posted Thursday at 03:48 PM To be fair, this thread was renamed twice. First it was a cautionary "The Top is coming", which was in retrospect not a bad call in August 2021, when the ultimate bull market top came only 3.5 months later. Then at some stage during the subsequent bear market Parsad posted and renamed the thread to "Is the bottom almost there", also a good call. But yeah, the last rename, don't remember when, to "Have we hit the top" is quite a long time and quite a few % ago.
villainx Posted Thursday at 03:57 PM Posted Thursday at 03:57 PM I’m just glad I finally posted a day ago to be memorialized in the meme!
Luke Posted Thursday at 06:31 PM Posted Thursday at 06:31 PM (edited) I have changed my mind the last few weeks, i think the market is fairly priced and there is no obvious crash imminent, rather the opposite with trump going lower on rates and making american shareholders happy. Tesla is at 1.5T because the CEO is now best buddy with the president of the largest economy in the world, has free reign and no regulatory barriers for anything. So while 1.5T seems expensive on first glance, he has a lot of freedom to create value and push other companies out of their market positions. My family purchased significant amounts of all world index fonds recently and i first thought maybe wait for cheaper valuations but i think you will do well buying the index from here! WayWardCloud Posted Thursday at 10:29 PM Posted Thursday at 10:29 PM Are you investing in a tax free account Luke? Kudos for being able to revisit your thesis and change your mind but it sounds like an awful lot of movement recently so I'm curious. All world index fund and chill sounds great! I'm not sure whether China or the US will do better in the next decade or whether the market is fairly priced or if cheaper valuations are around the corner but I would suggest finding both a country allocation and an asset allocation that you can stick with long term, regardless of what your latest macro reads have convinced you of. Otherwise I worry you could be running the risk of jumping off one train when it's reached its maximum pessimism and onto another when it's reached its maximum optimism. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

WayWardCloud Posted Thursday at 11:43 PM Posted Thursday at 11:43 PM I love that this has become an egg-centric thread

They keep the price low and sell 11-egg dozens? I know, JK, 5+% of the eggs cartons in a store have broken eggs in them. That one is probably just completely crushed. BTW if they have "Trader Joe's Heirloom Blue and Brown Eggs" where you are they are amazing for not much more.
Blake Hampton Posted yesterday at 12:40 AM Posted yesterday at 12:40 AM (edited) “And why does a man who is gloomy about stocks own so much stock? "Partly, it's habit," he admits. "Partly, it's just that stocks mean business, and owning businesses is much more interesting than owning gold or farmland. Besides, stocks are probably still the best of all the poor alternatives in an era of inflation - at least they are if you buy in at appropriate prices."” - Buffett in 1970 Edited 12 hours ago by Blake Hampton

I guess other folks do that too and that’s how this box ended up with 11. It is not a hedonistic inflation adjustment after all.

We will see, In my home country there are no tax-free accounts unfortunately All world Indices are always something good to own with a long enough time frame and not absurd valuations. Cheers!
