  1. At the point someone is making a post about it. The 'have we hit the top' thread was started August 2021.
  2. I'm amazed that so many of you think there's actually going to be midterms or another presidential election given this government invoking 'trumped up' emergency powers to get their agenda through. What and who is to stop them invoking some war time powers/national emergency act to prevent elections going forward?
  3. Disappointed we couldn't at least get a parade out of liberation day. Sad!
  4. things are impermanent and your desires will only bring you unhappiness. My tour guide at Angkor Wat was a former Buddhist monk. He was very chill. Be chill.
  5. lol
  6. Frank Getman runs their renewable royalty company, also a former attorney.
  7. I thought I saw this on gfp's latest NAIC files but wasn't sure if those were already cooked in or not. But those were just Sumitomo, Mitsui, and Itochu.
  8. Ever since I switched to a manual coffee grinder, I'm down to 1 cup a day. Like you, I switch the green tea until noon - 2pm. Then water until bed. I think I've read/heard the "Why we sleep" author saying no caffeine after noon to get the majority out of your system before bed time.
  9. I received an Oura ring for Christmas, I had read prior that it would hammer away how bad alcohol was for your sleep, but wow. Seeing your heart rate, heart rate volatility, and REM and deep sleep without alcohol and with alcohol is quite striking.
  10. JD Vance stuck his neck out on a question, got rightfully clapped back, and didn't handle it very well, eventually reverting to law school debate tactics. He's nothing more than a charlatan.
  11. Best of luck. You don't need to prove anything to anyone, except yourself. But be careful you aren't pounding things in by constantly defending your position. Quit caring what others think, you'll be better off for it.
  12. Lie down with dogs and you'll wake up with fleas. No different than how the rest of the world treats Russian citizens. Personae non grata. I'd suggest doing what they do, keep your head down and don't draw attention to yourself.
  13. In your delusional social media echo chamber, there can be no doubt. In the real world:
  14. Massive tax cut for the wealthy and businesses. Kick the can down the road until it is someone else's problem.
  15. Been that way since Vietnam. We send our lower class citizens to foreign lands in the name of freedom and democracy only to abandon them when they return home, beyond the token 'thanks for their service' whenever the opportunity arises for the upper class or brands to 'wrap themselves in the flag' and profess how much they love 'freedom'. Is it any wonder that vets routinely kill themselves (and others) after returning home? Oh yeah, we probably will get around to also cutting their PTSD therapy once DOGE finds out about it.
  16. To the man with a hammer..... It's sad what is happening to the Ukrainians. They've fought with one arm behind their back from the start with the limits the west have put on them in regards to not targeting Russian assets in Russia, higher tiers of lethal equipment provided only when things were going badly, and now as the conflict has became mired in a stalemate (thanks to the 2 former actions) the rug is being pulled from underneath them. If we do get some type of ceasefire, no doubt Russia will do what they've done in previous episode of USSR expansion and flood the new territory with Russian nationals at the expense of the Ukrainians. A state sponsored 21st century carpetbagger. The whole push on "elections" couldn't be more of an opportunity at putting a Russian puppet in place via a campaign of disinformation and corruption. Or becoming a new east/west divide the likes of which we haven't seen since the cold war. And this most likely puts Western troops overtly in to Ukraine in a peacekeeper role, which has been a red line for all NATO nations since the conflict started. Given the push towards right wing nationalism we see sweeping the globe (I think the AfD results in the upcoming German election are going to be shocking to some), I don't think Europe has the capital, political or economic, to keep supporting Ukraine by themselves. But they will have to push back at some point, if not in Ukraine then most likely in the Baltics or Southeast Europe.
  17. I do, but never have done it in Japan. The few times I've looked at Niseko it looked pretty pricey and the talk is it's full of Aussies. Though I do like Hokkaido quite a bit for non-ski activities, and it isn't nearly as trafficked for tourists. I've taken the Shinkansen through Nagano which has a few places, but think Northern Tohoku would probably be the best spot of good snow and few crowds.
  18. I was in Tokyo and Osaka last month, it was still pretty even in what is supposed to be their 'slow season'. Only place that was over touristy was Nara, I saw photos of Kyoto and it looked ever worse. The good news is I still think you can get off the 'tourist trail' and into smaller cities and get more of an authentic experience still. But I don't see myself going to Nara or Kyoto any time in the near future.
  19. Really? Are they held in a BofA MMF or are you using a blackrock/federated hermes fund?
  20. Not sure what DOE refers to? The Department of Energy? For DoD revenue it's what? 35-40%? Do they break out their profit by entity? Pretty sure it's just OEM/Aftermarket.
  21. Same with Merrill, been looking to switch for awhile as well.
