It’s not even remotely comparable Lc.

Given there are anywhere between 150-300 of these incidents in DC per year, Trump's actions could result in many, many more deaths than the single death of Charlie Kirk.

He's also encouraging the same illegal capital punishment in New York, further expanding the potential deadly scope of his actions to enable/incite the commission of crimes by others. That is called aiding and abetting.

So while Tyler Robinson is presumably guilty of murder, similarly Trump is presumably guilty of aiding and abetting the murder of at least around 100 people! Good job, POTUS!

@cubsfan got banned?  As in permanently?  I don't recall any offensive posts.

Really? I disagree with him on just about anything political but I enjoy reading his investment posts...which is the whole point of this forum. And I've never found him rude or offensive. Thick skins and all...

Yeah.  If it was something he posted on this thread, I thought the whole point of this thread was free and open dialogue and anyone who doesn't care to participate can simply ignore the thread altogether.  I'd like to know what he did/posted so that we know what line not to cross.

Yup. Along with the fact that there’s also a whole slug of contributionless bums that should get the boot first….bit whatever

It got a bit heated between Sanjeev [ @Parsad ] and Mike [ @cubsfan ], where Sanjeev in total handed out 2x24 hours ban to Mike [ @cubsfan ]. This morning my local time I was checking Mike last time online last Friday late, so ban over several days ago, and I just saw this :

So, I suppose, just give Mike the time he needs to get back.

OK, thanks.  Any discussion on a Politics thread is bound to get heated sometimes.  I've never seen @cubsfan post anything that was not civil and polite.   And even if a discussion becomes heated, it is never anything personal (I don't know any one of you personally).

Hi Gentleman. Thanks for the sentiment. In order to clear up any mystery, here is what my response to a good friend on the board that just emailed me about what happened. No big deal.

Hi **** - doing great and thanks for the message. I just was able to get in. Sanjeev banned me for 48 hours. It’s his board, I’m his guest, so he can do as he pleases. That’s fine by me.  I remember well actually. We were discussing the charlotte, NC murder where the Ukraine girl had her throat cut open. I said the media narrative was to bury the story because blacks don’t kill whites and make national news. I said the magistrate that released her was a DEI hire as was her boss , and in spite of 14 violent felonies, they released her, and then covered up the video. All of this is true. It’s just fact. Sanjeev didn’t like it so he banned me. It’s a problem if you can not say true things and have a reasonable debate about them. But like I say, it’s his board, his rules.

Yeah, @73 Reds,

It happens things get a bit heated. I myself, have, years back, from time to time been a really a**hole here on CofB&F, when I've got angry. Even Sanjeev [ @Parsad ] contacting me directly p2p about it! [<- Then you're really in trouble! lol!]

It's just not worth it, to get carried away over politics, for any of us [our lives are too short for that].

Count to 10 before starting replying if worked up, -if that does not suffice, leave the keyboard, or the topic, and visit again after a nights sleep. 😉

- - - o 0 o - - -

Personally, I really appreciate that we have this topic at our disposal, if we stay within some lines. I've learned a lot [tons!] from it, about CofB&F members, other cultures and countries.

John, it is often better (and easy) simply to disengage in an online conversation when emotion takes over.  That is actually the best part about investing - no emotion in it whatsoever for me.

The other option is: grab a few beers, bring up politics and religion, and lets things devolve into this:

It definitely makes for an entertaining afternoon!

So Bessent needs to get fired now. It seem like his claim listing 2 primary residences is actually false while  look did it correctly. Should we  ask for a review of the treasury now? That’s the least that needs be done .

The Danish Minstry of Defense [September 17th 2025] : The government clearly states: Denmark must have longer-range precision weapons in the future.

Subtitle : Based on the military expert recommendation of the Chief of Defence, the government has made a decision in principle that Denmark must have longer-range precision weapons with a view to strengthening Denmark's national and NATO's and allies' collective deterrence.

These weapon systems have nothing to do with defence. They are counter-attack systems. Think Sct. Petersburg and Moscow.

The death penalty is the legal penalty following a criminal conviction for serious crimes like murder.

Not remotely the same as illegally murdering someone because they said something you don’t like, or just because.

And even if Trump was to try and mandate it, he would have to change the law first.

Even then, it’s not the same.

The death penalty is illegal in Wash DC and in New York.

Trump says anyone in DC who meets his criteria, he is going to "seek the death penalty"

So he is admitting he will be seeking to commit an illegal act.

Is this whole discussion we're having absolutely silly?

Of course it is - but this is what happens when you elect a clown to run the country.

We get circus laws, clown show enforcement, and things like Spek pointed out above where Trump's friends get to break the law without repercussion.

So if Bessent can break the law without issue, if Jan 6 rioters can commit treason and get a pardon, well perhaps Tyler and Luigi are thinking the same thing. Rules for thee, not for me...it's a terrible way to run a little league team much less a country.

Some craziness out of NY.

Kathy Hochul endorses Mamdani.

Dozens camp outside NYC courthouse chanting “Free Luigi” and buying and selling Mangione merch.

Feels like we are rapidly nearing the point that if you own any property or value any sort of societal order, you are going to have to stop supporting (D) candidates.

let me guess camp Trump response…. everyone does this, it’s like J-walking…time to move on…….this is not the administration IMO to start throwing around holier than thou moral lectures…it’s populated with a group of folks with VERY let’s call them colorful pasts up to and including the President himself

There is nothing illegal about seeking the death penalty.  There may be illegality in how he goes about that.  But simply saying he will seek the death penalty is not illegal.

I’m not trying to draw any conclusions.   Just the association will probably fan the flames.

For example cubsfan predicted it would be a trans person or trans activist and Parsad had a strong reaction and threatened to ban him. Without getting into the why, I just know it is.

I did end up banning up...due to another post!  48 hours.  Cheers!

I’ve had the same frustration. The left leaning guys here are great outside of politics, but once politics comes up, the tone can shift, more snark, less interest in honest context.  Some have internalized the idea that politics equals morality. So if you disagree, you’re not just wrong, you’re immoral.

Yup, it's just the lefties.  The righties share none of the blame or culpability.  Those lefties just never look at things rationally...just emotions, emotions, like a raging, hormonal tranny!  Oh, here they come again!  Maybe I should watch Inside Out 2...oh, a Disney/Pixar movie, pushing a DEI, tranny-loving narrative!  Nope, can't watch that...if any of my kids watch a movie like that, they'll turn into gun-toting, gays with tranny boyfriends who try and shoot online right-wing personalities who are preventing the world from dying from vaccines, falling under the cult-like spell of science, and believing that there are systemic inequalities that need to be changed...whew!  Cheers!
