Spekulatius Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) buying a starter in NXST this AM. Why are all media stocks down this AM? Doom and gloom from writers strike? Edited September 1, 2023 by Spekulatius

It's odd that other media stocks are down more than Disney though. ESPN is the biggest racked in cable - it costs more than many streaming services. Edited September 1, 2023 by Spekulatius

keegomaster Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Started a position on DIS. Bob Iger's turn around is happening (improvement in FCF, ROIC), and the stock is trading at 5-yr lows. Happy to start here and build up if it keeps trailing lower.
Williams406 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 In celebration of International Commodity Stock Day, small add to Cameco and large add to Pantheon Resources.
Spekulatius Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 NXST (and other broadcasters) really get toilet flushed. Ouch.

Bob Iger is the one that got Disney into this mess, you think his arrogance will fix the melting ice cubes outside of parks?

("There's Always Something To Do" Christopher Risso-Gill) I may add C to the watchilist! Cheers! Definitely worth reading through the thread and reading some reports and listening to Fraser… Still yet I remain skeptical- they call it Shitibank for a reason. Nonetheless it’s so cheap it’s hard for me to ignore.

Its is interesting that one of the new ideas was to sell dump a minority stake in ESPN to a strategic investor. I guess that's not going to happen. ESPN seems to be at the core of the dispute. If the Dis/Chrt dispute leads to a revamp of the cable packaging those retrans payments that make up half of their cash flow are in jeopardy.

I do agree there is a lot of uncertainty here.
Lance Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 New position in C. Small adds to D and WBA. Thanks Lance
Saluki Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Small adds to JOE and TV on the dip yesterday. If I was sitting on cash it would've been a good day to go buying yesterday since almost everything in my brokerage account was flashing red. But alas, I had no war chest
Paarslaars Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Been re-balancing some accounts. Family account is now 50/50 BRK/FFH. The result is a net add to FFH.
Luke Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Added some BABA to my china basket and bought some Prosus+FFH
brobro777 Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Bought some $600 Dec 23 NVDA calls for laffs Like a moth to a flame, I couldn't stay away

These NVDA calls constitute a tiny part of my portfolio and I take them because of nothing more than feelings. Like for whatever reason I feel like NVDA will continue to grind up through the end of the year. If it turns out that I'm wrong and I lose then hey, that was good laffs
