Come to NYC, I will buy you lunch!  I hear MCD is cutting prices...

@Marco Van Basten - I'll drive up from DC to NYC, but will take me to Per Se or Atomix? lol. I'll settle for Katz's Deli as a plan B.

You are behind the times mon ami...  Gabriel Kreuter is quite good, particularly for lunch!  Per Se I went to in 2004 (was taken by a broker), it was good, never went to Atomix.  Katz's Deli I went to a dozen years ago with a bunch of my fellow grad students, they wanted to check it out, it was fine.

@Marco Van Basten

I've heard great things about Gabriel Kreuter.  It's on my to-go list.  Everyone has been raving about Ceres Pizza and it was worth the hype.

Next time your broker calls, please add me as a plus one! lol

Hiking history and pubs...what's not to like??

We did another mountain bike trail yesterday (north table) - woof! Skinned my knee pretty good descending a rock stairway...i need more friends with less painful hobbies 😄

For the Atomix fans - try Jungsik as well. They're my favorite korean restaurant in nyc, but that's partly nostalgia as I've been going there for 10+ years

I just ordered Google to attack Charlies [ @dealrakers ] first picture above, and an AI view generated by Google gave me the following :

'The image shows a man posing in front of a view of the city of Salzburg in Austria. Salzburg is known for its Baroque architecture and as the birthplace of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The city is located on the Salzach River, near the northern foothills of the Alps.
In the background is Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of Europe's largest medieval castles.
Salzburg's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city is also famous as one of the filming locations for the film "The Sound of Music".'

I can personally guarantee with positive opinion that the first first part of it is totally correct ['This image shows a man posing in front of ...']. 😉😋😛

@dealrakerDon´t forget Greece!

My family and me are at Chalkidiki, Greece for the autumn holidays and it´s really lovely.

Nice weather, nice view at the Olymp, the medtiterranean sea, mediterranean food and red wine.

Our kids think they are in paradise and it´s really good.

Have fun in Europe! 🙂

Meant to post this last month. Nearly 8000 Americans buried at the beautifully maintained (by US tax dollars) Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno. A beautiful moving place.  Nettuno itself is a charming little resort an hour south of Rome.

My wife told me today that for our summer holidays the U.S. is much cheaper than South Africa.

Since I don´t visit Trump, rather the U.S.A. my question is

what area is better for holidays for a family with 2 seven year old kids

Florida or California?

Trump seems to make U.S travel for europeans great again. 🙂

California without question has much more to offer than Florida.

Or try Korea town in NYC. Amazing food for bargain prices to be found there.

For those who have been to Tokyo recently, I was perplexed to learn that US Android phones do not have the NFC software to be used as Japanese IC transportation cards.  Iphone does however.  For those with Android, is there an alternative for a convenient IC card short of just getting a physical Suica/Pasmo at the airport?

Hi everyone. Wife and I currently planning a ~3 day trip down to Florida in early December, leaning towards Fort Lauderdale/Miami area. Hoping to do some relaxing on the beach + outdoor activities (bike, golf, snorkel).

If anyone has any hotel/restaurant/activity recommendations in the area we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Somewhere near Las Olas in FLL is a good spot. Have some Scoobies at Coconuts for me.

Planning my trip for April and May next year.

Looking to go back to Indonesia. This time to do Rinjani volcano on the Lombok island. But really the crux of my travel will be centred with Hong Kong as hub.

From there side trip to Macau, Shenzen and Shanghai.

Shenzen to see the future, and HK / Shanghai to see the past.

It will my second time to China, to Indonesia and HK. And my fifth trip to Asia since 2023.

Seen a lot. Learned a lot.

The only downside is the very bad timing of Berkshire AGM. Which I really wanted to see live.
