Obviously you’re just bending over and giving away your constitutionally protected first amendment rights! And while you may be Hispanic, you definitely ain’t the right shade of brown bro!

I've said it a million times Ole' Deal.

What does a frustrated minority do when they lose all political power?

They resort to violence. That's all that's happening.

That's why those in the middle are fleeing the LEFT in droves.  Like @73 Reds has said - violence, like men in women's locker rooms - is one of those 80/20 issues that the middle detests.

In my entire life, I have never even thought about talking back to a cop.

Cubs, sometimes all you can do is shake your head.  No rational person likes random acts of violence against innocent human beings.  Yet when it comes to ICE, almost all such violence is perpetrated by one group, and it isn't ICE.

Once again, just like the troops in LA and Chicago its largely just political theater and Trump trying to look tough.  Florida has 12x the number of illegal immigrants that Minnesota does but nobody is surging 3000 agents to Florida and having multiple ICE leaders on Fox about it. You can safely move Minnesota off the "swing state" designation for the next 20 years.

ICE says they're going to have a large presence at the Superbowl.  Because we all know illegal immigrants like nothing more than flying into Silicon Valley and dropping $10k to attend the most high profile event of the year.

Like most of Trumps activity its more theater than substance.

Give me a break. No surge is needed in Florida precisely because far less ICE agents are needed. Florida law enforcement hands over criminals aliens directly to ICE at the jails. You only need 1 agent, as opposed to 5/6 when they are running around on the streets.  And the Florida ICE agents don't require protection since FL PD protects them.

You are right. There is plenty of blame. But this is where we disagree. I think most of the blame falls on the Federal agents.

Also - a small nitpick - I'm 99% sure this shooting isn't on ICE. These look liked CBP agents. A very specific unit, too. I worked with CBP (on a program called UIP and spent some on time on the SW border). Incidentally, I also spent a good amount of time supporting ICE HSI.

I’m not sure how to apportion blame, and coming from a LEO background yourself, you can probably spot operational areas better than I can.  So I believe you when you say much of the blame is on their actions.

@cubsfan @Marco Van Basten - why would you (or your kids) want to go to Harvard, a school that requires you to feel like a woman and be constantly oppressed? You all can get a fine education at schools like Bob Jones University, Regent University, and Grace College. Don't support something you don't believe in. But also don't be hypocritical wanting to go there (because reality is that these schools still produce world class education that everyone wants) and not liking what they have to offer.

I'm not former or current LEO. I worked supporting financial crimes investigations and worked with many of the fine agents in those organizations.

So I went to Yale.  It pains me that schools like Harvard and Yale have been destroying themselves by recruiting activists rather than scholars.   I used to do alumni interviews for Yale and then stopped, because i realized that they were looking for activists who fit a certain pattern.  I would like Yale and Harvard and Princeton, and other schools to focus on learning rather than social change.   Also, learning in something normal - physics, biology, math, Chinese/Indian/European civilizations, rather than gender studies and women sexuality.

Alex Pretti - violent, reckless, dangerous, irresponsible, threatening - all while ARMED.

Alex Pretti did not deserved to die - BUT Alex Pretti was dangerous and put himself in a situation where he UPPED the odds of dying.

May he RIP.

That's as stupid as suggesting the ICE officers have put themselves in the way of being run over, attacked and beaten.  They have UPPED the odds of those things happening.

Pretti had the right to protest and voice his opinion.  Should he have been arrested when he crossed the line and spat, hit the ICE vehicle...yes.

Should he have been shot when he was disarmed, restrained by six agents, and lying on the ground when he had not been violent or disruptive...obviously not!

Don't conflate two very different scenarios.  One is the kid shoplifts and gets away.  The other is the storeowner shoots him because he shoplifted the time before.

Cheers!

Homan said the federal government could do more to make the operation “safer, more efficient, by the book,” and that increased cooperation with state and local officials would allow him to reduce the number of agents operating in the city.

Trump taking the L on Minnesota. A few weeks ago he had all the MN fraud allegations helping him. Before ICE went crazy, he also had a lot of support from Americans on immigration (closing the border).

Thanks to listening to nut-job Stephen Miller, he turned two W's into two L's.

At one point in time, you were considered a heretic if you studied physics or biology.  What is common isn't necessarily useful.

It's like saying that more than half the world doesn't speak English, maybe studying English is a waste of time.  Or being an artist doesn't pay well, so why study art.

Cheers!

With all due respect Parsad, you don't know what you are talking about.  I used to interview kids for Yale, and I saw that they tended to accept activists for causes popular among the very left, even if these activists had no idea about the cause and did not research it.  People accepted were  also disproportionately homosexuals, or people interested in studying women's gender and sexuality, etc..

However, thanks for the insult!  That would normally change most people's minds, but since I not only have a BA from Yale but a PhD from another university, I look down with great condescension on those who don't have PhDs,  and hence will ignore your opinions on this and all other matters!

That's about what I would expect.  I've learned over the years that many educated people often have egos significantly greater than their IQ.

They are usually the ones who also end up running the very same universities they received their education from, and become notoriously fickle about what should and should not be taught at those schools, and who should be or should not be accepted.

A spoke in the very same wheel you want stopped.  Cheers!

You have forgotten one other thing, most highly educated people have zero common sense.  As a matter of fact, there seems to be an inverse correlation between IQ and common sense or book learning and common sense.
