  1. What are the scenarios? Berkshire continues on as is. Cannot deploy cash, pays dividend Activist investor, new owners breakup company Company starts to be mismanaged. In all scenarios aside from the last, you're pretty much okay. We all know this company well enough to know when to buy/hold/sell. I buy/hold for the first two, monitor the third and move my money on the last.
  2. Excellent Interview! Thanks for posting @spartansaver!
  3. All I can do is think of the 2022 Berk Shareholders Meeting Film. The Breaking Bad skit, where at the end Charlie leans back in his office chair wearing a jacket covered in dollar signs and says: "Brittle, bitches!" Always brings a smile to my face. The man was so much. Investor, lawyer, architect, constant learner, etc. I will continue to learn from him for the remainder of my life. RIP Charlie!
  4. Haslam has always been a pill popping, alcoholic, train wreck. Hard to not know what you're dealing with here. Buffett, needs to back out of the entire deal, give Haslam his company back and then WEB can go BUY Bucee's! LOL.
  5. As Smart as Warren is, he's able to "understand" tech. What they do, why, etc. But what he is not comfortable with is the moat. How long will this tech company be on top. In tech it's much easier to be a disrupter than it is with Railroads, Utilities, etc. Sure, Warren may understand Facebook, but who can confidently say that in 5-10 years they will remain dominant. With AAPL, it's a very sticky product and folks will not give up their iPhone, so he became comfortable investing knowing he has a bit of a runway to do so. Cheers!
  6. Apple is also sending Omaha almost a billion a year in dividends. Not too shabby.
  7. Interested to see if the stock buyback's have picked up steam again with it trading back in the 30's.
  8. Didn't Warren pass on buying the Ambassador Bridge at one point? Said it didn't feel right to own such an American business artery.
  9. Sitting tight in cash and continuing to let it build.
  10. Are we witnessing the last breaths of the Big 3 Auto manufacturers? This seems to me like horse and buggy unions striking as Ford is rolling out his first Model T.
  11. Patiently waiting for the new album to come out on the 25th.
  12. I'll be they odd guy out here. I own both an XL Egg and a Mini Max Egg and enjoy both of them. XL Egg was my first and is perfect for big smokes. Smoked six pork shoulders overnight for a family graduation party. Brisket, ribs, etc. It's really stupid easy to use once you get used to it. Once it's going, doesn't have to be touched, holds temp all day. I got the Mini Max for quick steak/chicken cooks for the wife and I. Plus I can take it to the lake with us. It's easy to cook and smoke on and the food turns out moist and very good. It's not for the cook with no patience though. If you're used to turning a propane knob and pushing a button to get a grill started this is completely different. Takes a little time for it to come to temp before it's ready to go. I thoroughly enjoy mine and would replace them if needed. YMMV.
  13. I'm 48 and feel this post. Lost my father at the age of 71 last July. His siblings didn't make it out of their 50's. Figure if I have 15-20 good years left in me I'm going hard for those. I enjoy beer, good music and travel. House and yard provide enough work and exercise. Would love to play soccer more, but knee's and back won't allow me to play at the level I'm used to. So now I play a little golf here and there. Investments are in a good place. I continually learn and tweak the process and the endline. It's amazing how fast time goes and how quickly investments snowball. I've learned in my old age not to be overly competitive and not to take myself too seriously. Main goal is enjoying life and experiences now. Cheers my CoBF brethren!
  14. Spekulatius, glad you enjoyed it. I agree, some of her best work. Lyrically and musically it's great.
  15. Natalie Merchant's new album, Keep Your Courage. And it's fantastic!
  16. Thanks for posting. WEB- "And we'll never run out of money!"
  17. Berk 70% Remainder is mostly: AMZN GOOGL COST CASH T-BILLS
  18. Same strategy here. All new money goes to BRK when it's under $300.
  19. Didn't Warren say that the Allegheny folks came to him? In WEB's explanation, Allegheny came to him on a Monday morning and approached him. He had admired the company and was interested, but did not initiate. Was it last years annual meeting, or an interview where this was disclosed?
  20. Agreed 100%. Berk is more valuable as it is, not broken up. I'm still wishing that WEB takes out Costco. I think it fits perfectly and compliments so many of our businesses. Recurring revenue from membership dues. Costco offers auto/home insurance that can be combined with BRK's already existing businesses. Costco could be a little like the BRK annual meeting where Costco would carry See's Candies, Benjamin Moore Paint, etc. BRK is pretty much a Costco now without the singular store front and everything under one roof.
  21. Wife and I will be heading back this year for our second trip as well. Met a lot of great folks while there last year. There was a brewery behind the Hampton where we stayed that seemed to have some good meetups/conversations going. Love the trip and being amongst other BRK folks.
