Berkshire Hathaway 2013 Annual Letter
CassiusKing1 replied to Borgesian's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
Liberty, thanks for posting that. Nice read. -
Agree. Not much of a precedent set to use as a deterrent. No jail time, and keep your money.

I've been kicking around this idea lately as well. I have a bundled package thru Time Warner for cable/internet/phone. And have cell phones thru Verizon for the family as well. The amount I'm paying for these two services makes me cringe. For the phones, I've been kicking around the idea of getting pay as you go cricket phones for emergency calling, then buying a couple if iPod Touches for the family to use for their internet and texting. That would save a lot of money each month on the phone plan. Not sure what I'm gonna do about the cable plan though.

It's going to be fascinating to see how this unfolds and just how far it goes.

This jumped off the page at me as well. Seems very counter to what WEB practices. Would hope he has more important things to take care of for shareholders than watching employees at a variety of restaurants work.

Trying Too Hard: Keynote Speech in 1981

Finally catching up on some of my reading. Thanks for posting this, absolutely wonderful read. The second to last paragraph is one I'll post in my office and read on a daily basis: "For all of his reputation as the father of security analysis - which he was - Benjamin Graham was skeptical of anyone's ability to generate information unknown to the market or to forecast future earnings His view of portfolio management wasn't information and it wasn't forecasts. It was buying a diversified list of statistically cheap stocks." -CK -
Good read, thanks for posting.

I fully expected this thread to be about Django.

Buffett's latest Op-Ed in the NYT on taxes
CassiusKing1 replied to Evolveus's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
Since a single mother of two surviving on $25K a year in income, would find it far more difficult to come up with $5K in taxes, than a single person making $100K and having to come up with $20K in taxes if you went solely by a flat tax. Coming up with that $1000 in rent would be pretty damn hard. A regressive tax regime is far from equitable! Cheers! Just like in every aspect of life, you take from the responsible, self sustaining to support the unaccountable and irresponsible. -
I'll tell you, I know people who have owned & managed nationwide timeshare companies and it is one of the most corrupt industries which exists. They thrive on what Warren has said for a long time, "A fool and his money........"

I keep getting an internal error. Is this a subscription only site? -
To follow up on this, I stopped by the Chipotle restaurant near my office today for lunch. What is usually a line of at least 30 people was about 8. Just an interesting note. I'll be paying more attention to this in the future. The burrito still tasted damn fine to me though.

I think he already has something sighted in his scope. Can't wait to see what he pulls off. -
There are competitors popping up every day. Not the Taco Bell's of the world, but here in Cincy, we've had at least three to four gourmet burrito joints open up lately. Hot Heads, Moe's Southwest, Curritos have all opened up all across the city. It's these copy cat restaurants that will potentially lead to CMG's troubles, not Taco Bell.
