Running low on available cash until a few financial moves finalize but added a small bit to AJG, BRO, CPRT, FFH, and CSU this week. Probably going to sit tight for a month and see if we get another 5%+ down on some of these.

Not sure if this is year end selling starting early or AI fears of the T-800 but either way I'll gladly add to compounders.

Do they always report on a Friday afternoon?

I think so, I remember folks saying it's so on brand for them to report at max disinterest day/time.

CSU.TO a few days before earnings. Added a stop-loss. The trend is down, and I’m not convinced of this company’s greatness.

What are your concerns? I also have been buying because the multiple compression has de-risked the stock, imo.

This seems like the worst possible trade. Trend is down, so you are pretty likely to trigger stop-loss. But you also don't have conviction, so your upside is limited.

The stock is a twitter and value-investor darling which has pushed up the price. Mark Leonard lowering IRR standards. Mark Leonard stepping down immediately due to health reasons. Government percentage of revenue. AI sentiment. M&A flywheel might stop working abruptly at some point.

It's a new holding so therefore "no" conviction. It's show me the money for CSU and Mr. Market. I try not to fight Mr. Market when entering a position.

Interesting, if you don't require conviction when entering a position then why don't you just randomly select a stock to buy and then 'show me the money for Stock XYZ and Mr. Market'.

Just trying to understand the approach.

The problem with CSU and any serial acquirer in general is that the larger you get, it gets hard to continue to compound at high rates. CSU is the only acquirer that had dealt with this transition exceptionally well, ie deploy at low multiples at scale.

The law of large numbers will catch up with them too, ie it will be hard for them to continue a 100% re-investment rate. Yet could be a good time to buy given the multiple de-rating.

I don't randomly select stocks.

All valid points but I thought the same thing a decade ago lol

At a 5% fcf yield I'll take the bet
