Got a small fill, about $1k on a resting bid order I had on POWWP. I have larger resting bids at lower prices, but it's an okay price. Bought a couple of shares of FICO to encourage me to keep studying it and decide if it's worth a real position.

Glad it's working but actually committing capital a "wife portfolio" makes me think we are closer to a top in markets than a bottom.

I have a feeling this wife portfolio is gonna kick my portfolio's ass for the next couple of years

haha

I was hoping to get 1500 again - was close on Tuesday.  I think it's a great 'Royalty' business at a ridiculous price, now with added political danger (which I think is not as bad as people think, but what do I know...).  Definitely a bit of 'faith' required in the quality i.e. it's not really a typical CoBF stock.

My portfolio atm is a bit of a bar-bell with stuff like this balanced with FFH.

My wife just listens to Bloomberg radio on her way sending kids to school, and come back ask me to buy the next hot stock . Lol

I saw this in the news today:

- BlackRock buys a staggering 108,718.82 Ethereum worth $300.9 million.

BlackRock has been acquiring more Ethereum (ETH) than Bitcoin (BTC).

BlackRock is following her trades. If not a hedge fund then at least you should start an ETH thread.

My recent small adds are UNH, BAX and 3836 (Avant Group)

Bax -  I was not fond of Baxters management but the results have been reasonable and hopefully new management is better in terms of capital allocation.

3836 is part of my Japan basket.

Friend has been trying to convince me to buy EPIX for a while now, and I just saw a write-up on VIC so figured it was a sign to dip my toes in. Looking for a ~20% return by the end of September via liquidation. Not a world beater, but a good IRR and I think the shareholder base will prevent management from doing something stupid like a reverse merger. We'll see how it works out.

EPIX being acquired for $1.91 per share and a 0.06c CVR.

Not the worst outcome. Got lucky with timing so IRR is good.

Thanks for pointing this out last month.

Trying to be patient.  Almost everything I have been looking at has either risen above margin of safety or reach around position size I'm comfortable with.

lol!, @Cod Liver Oil,

On vacation [at least I think], still always on the hunt! 😎,

Here is a photo of something to avoid : A rip current :

No alternative text description for this image

If you get caught in one, don't try to swim against it. Swim parallel to the beach until it ends and then head back in at an angle away from the current. I've been paddle boarding a lot lately and occasionally get pushed out by current. These Gulf of Mexico rips usually don't extend very far out.

edit to get OT: Been nibbling a little BRK.B and will start buying bigger at $450 or less to replace shares sold in taxable around $530ish.

I'm still not sure - early days!

Off the top of my head, LB is:

Smaller

Management not behaving in as heinous a way as arguably TPL's are in certain respects

More surface rights & water, and less Oil & Gas

More focused on Data Centre play optionality (which may end up being a nothingburger, though...)

Bought a few shares of SWBI and RGR, which have been beaten up lately. I've posted about SWBI several times, but RGR has no debt, a bunch of cash (~25% of market cap) on the balance sheet, and is also in that part of the gun industry that has an R&D budget and can make better margin on new models vs the smaller new entrants all competing on AR15 and Glock clones because the patents expired. Very small starter for now but I don't know if I'll go bigger yet because gun sales are down industry wide, but SWBI and RGR seem to be "the leper with the most fingers" in that industry.

Selling some VG puts. Trading around my core position.

Haha, I was just looking at VG this morning!  They signed another 20 year contract, so the fears that people won't do business with them based on the allegations in the lawsuit seem to be a nothing burger. And they announced expansion of capacity in one of their projects, which was probably behind the rally a few days ago.

I nibbled on a little EPD. I had it as a 1% position and other things have moved up, so I'd like to build it up to 1 or 2% position over time to keep in my fixed income bucket along with a couple of other names like POWWP and SFL and keep them as a 5% ballast.
