Except for he didn’t win by a landslide Sean.

Donald Trump won the 2024 election with one of the smallest popular-vote margins in U.S. history, but in news deserts – counties lacking a professional source of local news – it was an avalanche.

He won by a landslide on the issues - 70/30.

Even democrats hated transgender garbage, kids with drag queens , the southern border, the economic malaise, terrible inflation, DEI nonsense, etc

When you POLLED on those important issues to Americans - the split was 70/30

The view that brinksmanship is beneficial is a bit myopic. Yeah in the short-term, Trump probably gets a few concessions from its allies and is able to beat his chest about what a great deal he made. Over the long-term, you alienate your friends who are now more likely to seek alternatives to working with you. Is that trade-off worth it? Probably for Trump who always thinks in zero-sum terms and is only in office for another 4 years. Not so for the country.

I didn’t vote for Trump and I don’t support the tariff approach. But I do think Western Society needs a kick in the nuts.

Hahahahaha, yeah, ok. Nice hedge with the “Landside on the issues.” Thanks Sean!

Tell me when Trump solves the southern border, economic malaise and inflation.  The other stuff...transgender, drag queens, DEI...were minimal issues that he used to get votes.  Let's see him solve the big problems with that big brain of his.  I have a feeling he either fixes the problem or everything blows up!  There's no middle ground with Trump or Elon!  Cheers!

1.5% of illegals crossed from Canada, 0.2% of fentanyl crossed from Canada. US figures.

87% of those on the terror watchlist were captured on the Canadian border.

Here is exactly what I said---- so your reading comprehension is poor. Not my problem.

100% - you may not like him. Some in the USA hate him. He won by a landslide on the issues.

Most planes that came back successfully in the Second World War did not have damaged cockpits and engines.

There were people who concluded that they needed to put armour on the wings and fuselage.

Have you considered that a lot more cross over on the southern border but don’t get caught?

Unbelievable!

We agree!   It won't be easy given the enormous mess Biden left us.

No doubt it will be better than the socialist puppet "The Party" had lined up for us!

Ok you’re right, I did misread your statement. But now that I’ve reread it, it makes even less sense. 🙃 He won by a “landslide on the issues.” Hahahahahah, what a dumb comment.

Laugh all you want. The economy, inflation, house prices,  crime, law and order, children's sexual safety.

Americans care about that stuff - obviously you don't. Why am I not surprised.

So back to finance / stocks:

If Trump's motive is beyond border / fantanyl and truly wants Canada as 51st state.  What would be the sensible thing to do to preserve wealth?

Perhaps after tarrifs Trump might start economic sanctions (ie isolate Canada like Russia), etc

We need to prepare to export to Europe and Asia.

If we can’t trust the US then there is no other option.

Pipelines, ports to export food and commodities, LNG exports etc.

if Americans sanction more and more of the world then all the sanctioned countries work together. And in the process move away from USD based trade.

US will not want to give it up so they will try to punish us even more.

Your investments in US would also be at risk.

The same as how Russia is treating Ukraine.

And how is the current plan going to fix these things? Tariffs will cause inflation and hurt the economy. Contrary to popular belief most crime is not committed by immigrants.

There was a negative margin when he won in 2016 and when George w bush won right?

And yet there was really no inflation in Trump's first term...

A lot of folks freaking out over DOGE and Trump actions in general. Try not to get too hysterical otherwise it will be an agonizing 4 years for you...

The U.S. government is currently undergoing some restructuring to come out better (leaner, more capable) on the other side.

We'll be leaving Canada/Europe even further behind in the dust, to be crushed under the weight of massive bureaucracies and leftist regimes that run those places...good luck.

It’s remarkable how much we hear this parroted even though it’s obviously wrong. Inflation is produced by a raging economy putting supply well below demand. If making something more expensive hurts the economy….thats not inflation lol. Especially when there’s no supply problem.
