Fine, just don't pretend that the Canadian Government had anything to do with that, because anyone who actually read the article would have seen that.

What a crock of shit. This is a legal ruling that will now be appealed to the Supreme Court of British Columbia.  There is no way that a $94,000 penalty can be enforced unless it is LEGAL under Canadian law.

Remember folks, American citizens do not deserve the truth - they only deserve the Trump Truth(TM)

Reminds me of Desert Storm when Saddam was steadily pumping the troops while they were getting their asses handed to them. Everything this guy touches dies.

Speaking of which, anybody bought one of those shitty phones of his?

That's funny - the only thing that is getting slaughtered is the Democratic Party and all the lunatics behind it.

Tough pill to swallow.

Cool fact: If you add the word "Social" in front of "Democratic Party", this statement fits right into 1932 nazi germany!

Who said history was boring!? 😄

Ever heard of climate change?

One large coal plant in China or India emits more CO₂ per day than every idling car in Ottawa all winter.  Even if Ottawa eliminated 100% of idling emissions, it would be undetectable at the global level.

@cwericb weren’t you the one that said others didn’t have the balls to admit when they were wrong?

Did you mean to compare self inflicted wounds in a Democracy to Nazi Germany?  Hitler called.  He wants his Hitler back!

The Democrats are polling at historic lows in both favorable perception and internal support. Unprecedentedly low favorability scores.  Rarely negative views even among supporters.  Significant voter registration erosion.  Deep worry about a generational disconnect.

Wouldn’t it be better for you fine people to tack to the center.  Speak to the concerns of the working person as the democrats did when successful in the past, rather than to the far left.  Not so complicated.

Of course, The Republican Party is the party of the American worker. No good American would question that!

Remind me, what was the nazi party’s predecessor? Oh yeah, the German workers party!

I can only imagine how frustrating it feels to be constantly compared to the nazi party. Perhaps a request to the dear leader to stop emulating their political tactics? It might reduce the comparisons!

Not frustrated at all.  Never voted for him.   I am just watching this all play out, fascinated by all shades of human folly.

Currently what’s fascinating me the most is watching the West’s self defeating policies and in particular its lack of energy realism.  It’s adversaries have placed no such constraints on themselves.

Reuters - Business - Energy [August 21st 2025] : Parts of Russia face gasoline shortages after Ukraine struck refineries.

Youtube : Kanal 13 [August 23rd 2025] : Long queues at gas stations: Gasoline shortage in Russia worsens, prices break records

The war is taking its toll on the gas station, the gas station showing signs of runnning low on gas!? huh? -Something of what Ukraine is doing to bite back actually appears to be working. This one also hurts the civil Russian population to some extent though.

Edit :

More specific information, including information from Russian sources :

ISW - Institute for the Study of War - ISW Press [August 23rd 2025 7:45 PM ET] : Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, August 23, 2025 :

Quote

Ukrainian long-range strikes campaign targeting Russian oil refineries, Western sanctions, and struggling refinery modernization efforts in tandem are impacting Russia's fuel reserves and could threaten oil revenues.

Russian business outlet Kommersant reported on August 21 that Russia is on the brink of a gasoline crisis as wholesale gasoline prices have surged since early August 2025 as wholesale gasoline production is down nearly 10 percent since January 2025.[9] Kommersant reported that Russia produced an average of 123,600 tons of gasoline per day in January 2025 but now produces an average of 102,200 tons per day – a 17.3 percent decrease. The Moscow Times reported on August 18 that the national index for AI-92 gasoline (roughly equivalent to regular unleaded gasoline) has increased to 71,500 rubles (roughly $890) per ton and AI-95 gasoline (roughly equivalent to premium unleaded gasoline) rose to 80,430 rubles (roughly $1,000) per ton, 1.3 percent and 2.2 percent increases respectively, within a single day.[10] The Moscow Times reported that AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline prices have risen by nearly 38 percent and 49 percent respectively since the start of 2025. The Kremlin extended a temporary ban on August 14 on gasoline exports through September 2025 for producers and through October 2025 for non-producers in an effort to blunt the price surge.[11]

Kommersant noted that Russian experts are blaming unscheduled oil refinery shutdowns, likely alluding to the impacts of Ukrainian long-range drone strikes, lengthy oil refinery repairs, and insufficient gasoline reserves in Spring 2025.[12] A source in the oil industry told Kommersant that oil refinery repairs take months to complete, that refineries with imported equipment can require particularly lengthy renovation periods, and that authorities have postponed several oil refineries' scheduled maintenance due to sanctions limiting the supply of necessary equipment to Russia. Another source in the fuel industry informed Kommersant that authorities expect to conduct maintenance on up to 10 large oil refineries in the Fall of 2025, which will exacerbate gasoline shortages. Kommersant noted that a number of regions in Russia and occupied Ukraine are struggling with fuel shortages. Crimean occupation head Sergey Aksyonov told Kommersant that occupied Crimea primarily has a shortage of AI-95 gasoline, due to reduced production rates and logistical disruptions, as most of the gasoline is transported via roadways that are vulnerable to Ukrainian strikes. Zaporizhia Oblast occupation head Yevgeny Balitsky noted that occupied Zaporizhia Oblast is experiencing a shortage of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline due to the threat of Ukrainian strikes against fuel trains. The Kremlin relies on oil revenue to fund its war in Ukraine, and the Kremlin's inability to effectively navigate critical energy sector issues challenges Russia's ongoing narrative that Russia is capable of withstanding Western economic pressures and financing its war effort for the long-term.[13]

Also this one from same  source and ducument is certainly interesting :

Quote

The Russian MFA's statement that Lavrov is not undermining the peace process because Lavrov is executing Putin's foreign policy directives is an accurate assertion that Putin himself is the impediment to the peace process.

ISW continues to assess that Putin remains uninterested in pursuing serious peace negotiations and maintains his long-standing war aims that amount to Ukraine’s full capitulation.[5]

Is there even anything left to assess, evalute, interpret and to predict about if a peace among the war parties based on negotiations is any longer an option by now? -To me personally, you can get no clearer statement, that such peace by now is a  mirage.

Funny to see people shoehorn current events into the 1930’s(mediocre intellect).  However seeing the European leaders scamper to DC, I can’t suppress this ear worm:

Time is on my side, yes it is

Time is on my side, yes it is

Now you always say

That you want to be free

But you’ll come running back

You’ll come running back

You’ll come running back to me

Other than that, on our last day at Quisisana on Capri, perhaps the only useful advice that I can give is:  When staying in a five star hotel, never underestimate the club sandwich and champagne.  Cheers!🥂

TV2 - tv2.dk [August 19th 2025] : Putin's ears under scrutiny after doppelganger theory goes viral again

Subtitle : When Putin appears in public, the internet is filled with wild theories that the person was actually a doppelganger. Here we dive down the rabbit hole.

image.thumb.png.f7c96f52ebdc8fd536731719b7dd003a.png

Personally, I have never mentually been occupied with this, to me the piece appears to be a very good and interesting write-up. @Spekulatius has posted about it earlier here.

I found the story by one of the men with facial characterics extremely similar  to  Putins highly entertaining on a leisure Sunday, that one of the material privileges based on that fact was that no police officer ever dared issuing parking or speeding tickets to him!

-Just after, I - fighting hard to be able to breath reasonably again, the Lady of the House passes by me, asking : 'Why are you laughting so hard?', me explaining why, and then I can't stop laughing again, she walks away from me again, shaking her head over the hubby, she likely thinking 'How did I even happen to get away with such specimen of a man?' 😂 - 12/10 - 👍🔝😛😉

@John Hjorth Putin occupies a fleet  of doppelgänger and they have sometimes. Used at domestic events . Putin is paranoid as heck too, so it makes sense.

I think there is chance that the Put8n we saw in Alaska is indeed a Doppelgänger. if so, the FBI would know this, as they should have been able to take DNA samples, but they would most likely keep it a secret for obvious reasons.

On the issue of gas, what is a gas station masquerading out of gas that out of gas? There have been ridicolous claims  Russia is a superpower because they have so much energy? Well the have, but it seems they don’t have the mean to make use of it.

Also watch the reports about the flamingo. It’s basically and updated V1 cruise missile with a jet engine and GPS. The 1 ton warhead is large enough to destroy industrial infrastructure and the readings beyond Moscow. if they can produce it in suffice quantities, it will do lot of damage Russias industrial complex and foremost energy infrastructure.

Russia a superpower?  Don’t make me laugh.  I think Obama was the last one to think that.  Their refining capacity has been severely hampered by sanctions and drone attacks.

Nah. Just think anyone who’s somewhat practical realizes polls “do nothing for them”. In fact the only use I’ve seen for “the polls” the last decade or so, is that they’re basically comfort food for the TDS crowd. But like most comfort food, after the short term highs, it tends to be pretty useless or even detrimental.

I'm hoping nuclear energy continues to be pushed thru government approvals. I own Aecon who are building North American'a first SMR in Ontario (https://www.aecon.com/our-projects/current/darlington-new-nuclear-project)

Trump says he wants to push thru similar projects in the US...time will tell.

I regularly ride mountain bikes with a 48 year old guy who is a 100% Trumper as is his wife too.  Both endlessly make fun of Trump, don't believe much if anything he says, and often think he does dumb shit endlessly.  They absolutely do not think he is emotionally stable.

At the same time they think anyone not "all in" with Trump should pack up and leave the country.  So their "approval" rating of Trump is low - but it is also meaningless.

You don't have to be in the "approval" camp nor the believing camp to vote and support Trump because the acceptable options to him do not exist.

I despise Trump and think he's accomplishing about 1/2 of 1% of what he claims, yet my mountain biking friend and his wife - who have a lake home close to ours - are our (Angela and me) activity friends and we go about with ease and political discussion is both comfortable and fun for us.

The one thing we all four agree on above all?  Not directly related to Trump at all:  the options to Trump are pathetic.

Trump would win the presidential election with a zero approval rating today in my opinion.

Wrong about what?

"Many cities, particularly in Canada and some US states, have anti-idling bylaws limiting how long a vehicle can be left running when not in motion, with common limits of one to five minutes, though some areas are stricter or focus on specific vehicle types or durations. Examples of cities with these regulations include Toronto, Vancouver, Kelowna, and Edmonton in Canada, and some municipalities in states like Wyoming and Colorado in the US"

"Cities in Asia where idling is restricted include Hong Kong, Tokyo (Japan), and Singapore, with other cities like Manila, Seoul, and Taipei also having anti-idling measures in place."

"(England, Scotland, Wales), have implemented regulations and fines for unnecessary vehicle idling."
