In Ottawa it’s against the law to warm up your car for more than a minute without getting  in.

So....?

"This by-law is in place to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and it sets limits for how long a vehicle can be left running without moving."

Having 5-10,000 cars idling first thing in the morning for an excessive period of time does not make for great air quality.

Also, it makes no difference if you are in the car or not.

This is a Canada board and people may go to jail or have to pay hefty fines if they criticize their government like they do the US politicians.

Really? How many times have I said on this board that Justin Trudeau and his government were idiots? Never been fined nor been in jail yet. Stop reciting garbage. Your statement is 100% ridiculous.

All he did was say something 100% true. You can be fined $94,000 as a single working mom for saying a man can't be a woman. You can be threatened with jail time, like Jordan Peterson for "misgendering" someone.

What's not to like about Canadian facism?

Yeah, and private Jets for Mark Carney and his buddies - perfectly acceptable!

You kill me!

If you get in the frigid car you can idle for between 3-10 minutes depending on the outside temperature.

It’s just virtue signaling.

One large coal plant in China or India emits more CO₂ per day than every idling car in Ottawa all winter.  One planet. One environment.

Even if Ottawa eliminated 100% of idling emissions, it would be undetectable at the global level.

It’s a little stunning this sort of stupid government intervention exists, let alone is defended as achieving some type of purpose. Makes me wanna go outside and run my car for no reason for like 25 minutes, AC cranking and all, cuz it’s 90 outside.

As usual some people will believe anything. That had nothing to do with the Canadian government, it was a voluntary professional organization to which she belonged that fined her. Anyway not worth trying to confuse you with facts. Read the article.

I'm well up on the Jordan Peterson saga, and the government of Canada's threats to  support revoking his licenses because of all the nutbags you have running your professional associations.

It's disgusting that your government wholeheartedly supports censorship and provides no protection for individuals such as the poor nurse and Dr Peterson.

But that is how a facist government rolls.

It is amusing how there’s this wanton disregard for truth and willingness to consistently just accuse “Trump supporters” of certain things; from what I’ve witnessed, many times those things are issues never ever commented on by most of those whom are being accused….but then, now, we have 100% active defense of retard driven government involvement in how many seconds you are permitted to let lapse while operating your own property, or heck, how, it’s NBD someone’s career is impaired with the a $94k “fine” over not sharing the same views of male and female as a few fringers….

Meanwhile, in Canada - the elimination of free speech continues:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/amy-hamm-discipline-bc-nurse-1.7610933

B.C. nurse suspended by college, asked to pay $94K in costs for comments about transgender people

Fined $94,000 for saying Men are Men

She can always apply for political asylum in the United States!

You’d can’t read do you. She wasn’t fined , she was ordered to pay costs for proceedings..  Thats a different thing.

Also mentioned in the article is the following:

So the college offered her a small settlement, but she choose to continue with the lawsuits for which the cost now amount to $94K.

Also for context - as a nurse, your are not an average person and are held to a higher standard ethically, once you graduate, or you can lose your license. Same for doctors.

I don’t agree with the lawsuit here but it’s important to keep context. You can get into trouble quickly quickly for saying some deragoratory and my wife is a nurse has seen  a nurse getting fired for doing so.

Would you like to expand on that? Or were you were talking about the MAGA crowd.

"...defense of retard driven government involvement in how many seconds you are permitted to let lapse while operating your own property" ....

Ever heard of climate change? This type of legislation is not uncommon in northern areas. I have two vehicles, both shut the engines off (annoyingly) after 5 seconds of idling for the same reason.

"... it’s NBD someone’s career is impaired with the a $94k “fine” over not sharing the same views of male and female as a few fringers…."

Fine, but don't suggest that it had anything to do with the Canadian Government.

I can read just fine.  You are making up excuses for Canada persecuting their citizens rights to free speech. Opps- They have no such rights. But, hey, if they bankrupt the poor girl - who cares? - certainly the Canadian government doesn't.

Amy Hamm was a hard-working nurse. Now she’s a case study in Canada’s descent into tyranny

Oops Spec.... Better toe the line in Canada - let's  bring the full force of the Federal government down on a single working mom.

Fine, but don't suggest that it had anything to do with the Canadian Government.

It has everything to do with a facist Canadian government. Just like this case:

The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (“CHRT” or “Tribunal”) ruled in Bilac v. Abbey, Currie and NC Tractor Services Inc., 2023 CHRT 43 (CanLII), that misgendering and deadnaming an employee who specifically and repeatedly asked to have their gender identity respected is a discriminatory practice that is contrary to the Canadian Human Rights Act (“CHRA”).

Yup. And all this shit brought to you by the same folks whom lectured everyone about “following the science”. In another world you’d think this is just high quality comedy.

Fine, just don't pretend that the Canadian Government had anything to do with that, because anyone who actually read the article would have seen that.
