It's easy to give the man a free pass when the appelate court found that the DA and Judge corrupted the law and violated the 8th amendment.  Selective prosecution using made up laws are for third world countries.

No one is giving Trump a "free pass".  In fact, he has been the most scrutinized individual holding a political office of any kind my lifetime.  But if folks can't recognize the absurdity of the lawsuit brought against him resulting in a 1/2 billion fine, that demonstrates ignorance and placing partisanship over easily understandable  facts.

The real issues here are clear.

 

1) Politically motivated attacks using the cloak of "justice".

2) The lack of any real protection of this via a reasonable statute of limitations. 

 

On the later, its almost become a joke. Everyone in the country is guilty of something if the onus is finding something or something who can say/allege things like "17 years ago you checked this box on a form" or "47 years ago at a party....". But obviously some of these folks just enjoy munching on the stupid byproduct of these abuses because then they get to label people they hate manufactured terms that they feel good shouting.

As one involved with the credit industry for much of my life, I would strongly disagree. What Trump did simply put, was crooked - and the courts agree.

 

Loans and interest charges are based on risk and the security provided for those loans. Trump lied and grossly exaggerated the value of the security he was providing for those loans. And he guaranteed in writing that this false information was correct and signed documents to that effect. That is pretty well the definition of fraud.

 

In turn those falsifications got him a lower interest rate then should have been charged resulting in the lenders not being adequately for the risk they took. That is fraud and the courts agreed. 

 

There has to be some responsibility when one knowingly signs documents that are false. Now, if the punishment suits the crime - well that is a different question. 

 

But before jumping to his defense, remember, this is a person who stiffed creditors six times through bankruptcies.

Not arguing the information provided was, or may have been false.  The motivation behind the lawsuit and the penalty were absurd, in fact beyond absurd.   But don't let your personal issues with Trump stand in the way of objectivity.

The "court" was slapped down big time by the appelate court. It's tremedously embarrassing for them and the crooked DA.

 

The valuations done by the lending banks were not allowed in by the crooked court. Property that today is probably worth in excess of $600M. That is the definition of a kangaroo court.

 

I know you take this loss very hard - just suck it up for once.

 

You've now lost 4 out of 5 lawfare cases - oh well!

The court did not slap down the guilty ruling.  It confirmed that he was guilty.  It only slapped down the penalty as excessive.

Does that apply to the sexual assault case too where he was found guilty by a jury and the award has been upheld many times?

In the real world, one with a brain applies an equal dose of skepticism across pretty much all instances. In the case of somebody conveniently making accusations 30-50 years after the fact, probably even more so. Think you also probably struggle with differentiating various aspects of law, things like burden of proof in a civil cases vs a criminal one, etc. But again, anything Trump related it all just goes to mush.

Umm because our sitting President, was best friends (as stated by Epstein himself) with a convicted child rapist and is now doing everything in his power to stop the release of the very files he promised many times to release.  Including moving Maxwell to a minimum security prison.

It’s another embarrassing TDS issue for him that he s seemingly unaware of. For instance, prior to Trump 2, I don’t think he ever once had mentioned or indicated caring about the Epstein drama.
