The 2014 incident: Omar Gonzalez, an Iraqi veteran with PTSD, jumped the White House fence with a knife. Obama wasn't at the White House at the time. Again, big threat. Would you rather face these incidents or be shot in the ear? Or have a sniper waiting for you in the bushes while you golf? Or have a gunman rush the press conference you are attending? If you can say with a straight face that these are even remotely equivalent, then you've drunk way too much of the kool aid.
Lazarus Posted April 27 Posted April 27 1 minute ago, Parsad said: Just because he didn't get shot doesn't mean there weren't attempts. A guy fired multiple shots directly at the White House while Obama was in the building? So because Obama didn't get shot means that there was no threat or assassination attempt? Geez! Obama wasn't there. He wasn't even in DC.

dwy000 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Its an interesting "win" to argue that my guy has more people wanting him dead than your guy. Guaranteed we dont hear about 99% of the threats and attempts on any President (or high ranking political figure) no matter how close.

I think what’s getting lost here is the amount of these losers whom are clearly brainwashed. Like this most recent dudes manifesto almost word for word resembles what even a decent chunk of folks here regularly spout. Stuff straight from MSNBC or a NYT opinion column. Same for the dude hiding in the bushes at the golf course. Or the kid who shot Kirk. Edited April 27 by Gregmal

cwericb Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Well, here is a point to ponder. Apparently the shooter in Washington was a reasonably intelligent individual who was a very active poster on social media. Just makes one wonder - we aren't missing a poster on our board are we?
Spekulatius Posted April 28 Posted April 28 (edited) If you are in a powerful position, like being President of the United States , lots of people want you dead. If that bothers you, don’t get into politics. Edited April 28 by Spekulatius
LC Posted April 28 Posted April 28 The problem with Trump is he's got no real charisma. Real or fake, like, who cares? Now - if you really want to see a President dodge an assassination attempt:
ourkid8 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 US budget airlines are asking Trump for a $2.5 billion bailout to cover soaring jet fuel costs caused by the US-Israel war with Iran. Netanyahu pushed hard for the strikes in February. Now Americans face higher fares and potential taxpayer subsidies for airlines with thin margins. Foreign entanglements aren’t free. No more blank checks for bailouts. It is interesting that the US government could actually end up covering the fuel price hedge for their airlines. Edited April 28 by Hoodlum

I mean, not sure if you're sarcastic here, or not. The only thing I feel quite confident about is this is outside the circle of control of the POTUS.

Same as in the mafiosi; whether it's everyone in one family, or spread over 5 families, the objective is sustainable maximum profitability. The composition/number of families always changing, as competition does its thing . Next up ..... Iranian uranium under the Russian nuclear umbrella and control. Israel, as a member of one of the mafiosi families . Opportunities. SD Edited April 28 by SharperDingaan

Parsad Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Talk about weaponizing the DOJ...what a fucking jack ass Trump and his team are! Is it weaponizing the DOJ? 100%. But its accountability for what Comey did with Russia and his abuse of the FBI, which he was never held accountable for. I mean it was so bad you had interoffice affairs revolving around being AntiTrump LOL.... So sure, it's bad. I agree. But it's also been going on for a while, well before Trump, and a lot of Americans are tired of seeing these elitist scumbags abuse the system and their respective powers with no repercussions. Seeing these establishment scoundrels facing bogus charges, solely on the basis that it brings them some sort of hardship is about as close as justice will ever be to being served for what many of these guys have done. And still, even there, career "public servant" James Comey, has ZERO issues coughing up MILLIONS to litigate any of this.....whereas the average American gets an inquiry, let alone a legal issue pops up when dealing with a government agency...and the financial costs, even if you're 100% innocent and simply trying to defend yourself, are devastating.
