  1. This is correct, but their nuclear fleet is aging and they will have trouble staying at 70%. I don’t see a positive trajectory here.
  2. Except China, the answer is no.
  3. Other wildcards: Venezuela or Iran cranking up again Demand lower over time due to China transition to other energy sources (nuclear power, EV’s for cars) Shale getting traction in more geographies Some whacko political moves which could go either way.
  4. One of the sectors I like is packaging. I have a decent position in GEF-B and a bit WRK. BERY is another one. Packaging isn’t that cyclical and cash generative in downturns. No need to bet on any commodity prices as they are pass through. GEF-B and WRK both have had management issues, but seem to be getting better. They have double digit FCF yields.
  5. Gold is down in USD but up in most currencies like Euro, GBP etc. It will do well when trust in currencies and particular the USD is lost. Gold went parabolic in 1980 and that was a time of crisis, weak USD and inflation. Right now we have many problems, but trust in the USD isn’t one of them.
  6. @UK If there every a remake of Deliverance, these guys should be in the soundtrack.
  7. That CZ / binance guy is throwing a lot‘s stones around, but may be sitting in a glass house. $COIN is a public company and has audited financial statements. Currently more cash than debt, even though the income statement looks terrible. I would guess that Binance probably goes to crypto valhalla before Coinbase does.
  8. Holmes is not a petty criminal. She has shown considerable criminal energy stealing not just money from investors, but also purposely ruining reputations (Schulz’s son) and endangering patients. I believe in second chances and I am categorically against death sentence for this reason, but I think the 11 years (which will likely be reduced ) are appropriate. Sokol has no business really vouching for her.
  9. Hijo de la Luna I found this one because it showed up in my YouTube feed. I have been searching for this ballad before with the key word “Luna” and Spanish ballad etc but never found it. Then it randomly showed up in my YouTube feed and I knew it when I saw it. Either coincidence or the YouTube AI gets scary good. One of the great ballad thongs of the 80’s. Show is vintage 80’s style synthies and tight black dress and all.
  10. These "wrappers" are trading sardines. You are not supposed to check what's inside the can.
  11. @Pessoa “16 Lovers lane” is a great album from the Go-Betweens. I like the debut album from the Cranberries as well. “No need to argue” was one of the iconic records of the early 90’s. @UK
  12. Found this at lunch time today when youtubing: https://youtu.be/bkPUC3gWvbE
  13. They do both (Corporate and asset level borrowing) and some management teams prefer one over the other. Asset level borrowing is often cheaper. It gives the Reit the option to sent the keys to the lender if the asset has issues and cannot be refinanced. Typical commercial real estate asset secured real estate loans have a duration of 5 years. they can't really get 30 year loans like you can get for single family homes or condos. if they do borrowing on a corporate level, they can borrow higher durations. The interest rises have only began this year, so it will take a while for increased borrowing costs to make their way into the income statements.
  14. @Xerxes It looks like the situation in Iran gets more and more out of control. It’s not just about womens rights in major cities, there now minorities protesting as well in the South (Belutshistan ) and the North (Kurdistan). Once you start to use tanks against citizens, there is no going back, this either gets under control, or the government topples and their heads may roll as well.
  15. No dog in this fight, but GBTC should really hold BTC in their trust or BNY would be in legal trouble: This ETF really should not exist. Looks like they are selling BTC in considerable numbers to keep the lights on: ~9.5M BTC sold in 9month, that's 1.5% dilution or 2% annualized. Just another crypto racket, imo. .
  16. He is clearly wrong. Got to move on.
  17. That guys has a good grove. Anchor steam for breakfast…
  18. BTC and other cryptos are useful if your country becomes Venezuela and you want to move your money out. Thats about the only application other than speculation where I think BTC or other crypto currencies are useful. Other than that, I think BTC is just too clunky and due to complexity makes it vulnerable to scams and it’s too volatile to facility trade. The reason why it’s so volatile is lack of usefulness so the guys holding it are mostly traders. For them volatility is a feature not a bug. The other things like stablecoins and Defi are likely all scams in one way or another. How would the average or even informed person know one way or another? If you can’t know, it’s likely a scam.
  19. I don’t think there is a link between drone deliveries from Iran and the protests there. The protests were caused by the Morality police killing teenagers in custody. The longer term reason is off course the more oppressive nature of the regime. Protests have been occurring from time to time in Iran over the years, but this time, they seem to be more persistent and spread deeper into the society (used to be just students etc). If anything, the causal linkage goes the other way around. Irans Autocrats have declared the US their enemy number 2 (Israel is #1) so their involvement against the Ukraine countering US aide is on brand and a welcome diversion from the troubles at home.
  20. Might have been Alexandra. Her first name is Doris. She was not really Gypsi though and passed away in 1969. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandra_(singer) At that time many musicians in Germany had foreign names for added mystique.
  21. This probably means they run out of regular an newer missiles, Now they are using Cold War stockpiles, same that they do with tanks etc.
  22. It feel's just like a couple of frat brothers started up a company in a dorm, which just happened to be worth $32B. In a way, that's not SBF's fault, at the very least there are many more enablers.
  23. Signal to noise ratio is very bad in seekingalpha. I used it way more years ago than I do now. There are just too many junk authors there. Tikr subscription is very much worth it, it’s a huge time saver.
  24. Crypto is pure play on human psychology, greed and fear. You don’t have to worry about fundamentals or earnings , there aren’t any. In a way that makes it the ideal trading sardine.
