Frankly, I hope Canada or Europe jump on this and announce additional funding for mRNA research and vaccine development.  Vancouver has a whole host of biopharmaceutical companies that are rapidly growing and they would be happy to receive more funding and a slew of some of the best researchers and doctors from the U.S.  Cheers!

A former co-worker of mine who retired about 10 years ago, left kind of bitter because although he had been an Associate Director for a long time, was never moved from a 14 to a 15 grade. He was a lawyer, managing other lawyers and overseeing hedge funds, but he didn't get a 15 and a 19 year old college dropout gets one?

It must have been in 2017 I read in the local news joint, that a good friend of mine since the college years had been awarded with an order by our then Queen, HH Margrethe R. II to become Knight of Dannebrog. It was the board of directors at the public education institution where he had served, that pulled in some strings, in connection with he stepped down after serving there as a very successful chairman after about 15 years. [Together with the school CEO he had done a lot of M&A, obtaining a lot of efficiency gains.]

 

So, next time I met him I congratulated him. [His last name is Zinck, by the way, so my CofB&F brain damage causes me start thinking about Horsehead Holding everytime I see him!] Then he started laughing, and said : 'John, The are two kinds of these things : Orders and medals. Lumped together they are called decorations. There is however still a material difference between them : Medals are given to people for long and loyal service and old one-legged men with crutches when the end of certain war is celebrated, orders, on the other hand, you hang on idiots.'

Another high level politcal appointee at the Justice Dept. Despite graduating law school in 2022, he wasn't admitted to the bar until 2024, suggesting that he failed the bar. Despite that, he called himself a lawyer before he was actually a lawyer (ironically, something that could get you disbarred). So this guy who is a first year associate now has high ranking career employees with decades of experience that have to defer to him. What a joke.
