It might work short term but lead to more trouble long term. Just like trying to appease to a bully , it just doesn’t work. I think other politicians will figure it out. Trump is a one trick pony in many respects. All this guy does is make excuses for the failures of Europe's defense strategy. He really sounds like a moron - but being a Danish intellectual, I'm not at all surprised. All he wants is for the United States to carry the defense load of Europe & Greenland. Like Mark Carney said - that time is over.

Kinda like how you claim that none of this matters and how posts on message board are meaningless and yet you're always the first to weigh in?

Well, yea, totally, except for the whole fact that I literally just click “politics”, open, laugh, shitpost. You guys are out watching his every presser, stalking his Truth Social and Twitter accounts(seriously, you guys may be the only reason Truth Social exist), reading up on every “Trump story” you can get your hands on, and requoting any loser on X or YouTube with a hot take and a podcast lol

Good to see he lives rent free in your head and @dwy000's head for a different reason. Greatest US President since Lincoln.

Everything he's done so far has pushed the boundaries of the Constitution, freedom of speech and due process. He's pardoned almost every single criminal who was charged on January 6th and fulfilled his "Revenge Tour" against the media, government agencies, prosecutors, etc. There are threats to kill the mid-terms. Why are you so convinced your hero isn't going to stay in power or put in a puppet regime to do his bidding? Cheers!

Trump essentially cut Canada off from our main market. Therefore we have to look elsewhere for countries that want our products. We are not dealing with China by choice. Lay blame on the one who caused this. By the way, perhaps you should be referring to Comrade Trump... Hate to confuse you with the facts but... y Canada, by the way is #17 on the list........... And you have a problem woith Canada? Look in your own back yard - just more BS from the cult. You don't even have to go that far...his best fucking friends are Putin, Kim Jong Un and Epstein! Quite the list...I'm sure Obama is jealous! Cheers!
Parsad Posted January 21 Posted January 21 9 hours ago, cubsfan said: I really don't blame China Carney - after all, he is just following the wishes of his voters - as it should be. As I have said before - the USA is fast decoupling their dependency on President Xi. Feel free to do all your trade with the CCP - just watch your back. I doubt China Carney is dumb enough to establish a military alliance with Xi - but he has not fully spelled out what he means by "strategic relationship with China". But he is politically smart to feed the red meat to his Canadian base lest he lose his job. He had a terrific speech in Davos today. Bluntly told the audience that the old world order is over! That the world should not be nostalgic for it, but strategize on how they will partner and build in the new world. That a handful of powerful states will control much of the power going forward and smaller states have to decide if the will cater to them to ingratiate themselves or work together to make a better world. Not sure Trump could even string together such a speech! Bing, bong, bing, bing, bong! Cheers!

Parsad Posted January 21 Posted January 21 5 hours ago, Sweet said: It’s actually a good speech, better than I expected and I agree with a lot of it. I have an issue though, because it was people like him that pushed a whole load of ideological bullshit on their populations and just expected us all to take it. This is partly what gave rise to the wrecking ball that is Trump, gave rise to Brexit, and the current surge in populist parties. They were all in on what we call ‘globalism’. Open borders, as seen in the US and Europe, and being flooded with unauthorised migrants. The erection of huge regulation in the pursuit of net zero which only really off-shored CO2 emissions. The reduction in military spending and the rise of ever larger social programmes. DEI in education and jobs, as well as pushing ‘rights’ so far that it started to stamp on the rights of others (trans people in female sports). So honestly, part of me is like great, ‘moderation finally’. The other part is ‘fuck him’, reap what you sow, you could have read this in the tea leaves 10 years ago. But I do like the call for a return to common sensism. When the political parties actually listened to their electorate. When we agreed that immigration should be controlled. That military spending and hard power is important. When we knew what a man and a woman was. These were centrist all party issues not that long ago, and people like me have been called ‘far-right’ for wanting a return that. Late but better than never. He was the Governor of the Bank of Canada...not a whole lot you can do if your boss is hard left Liberal. Even as an advisor to Trudeau, do you think Trudeau listened to him on a lot of things? Remember Trudeau had the sense to wear blackface at a couple of Halloween parties as a nearly 40 year old teacher! And in England as the Governor of the Bank of England, again, he wasn't making the decisions other than on fiscal/monetary policy. During his own term, so far he's been making centrist decisions...smart decisions...acting with decorum in the face of huge adversity with their bully neighbor and biggest trading partner...while still protecting broad progressive ideals that have been completely negated and destroyed in the U.S. There's a reason why our banks didn't fail during the GFC! Cheers!

He runs the arc from his grandma, him becoming a baseball player, mental institutions, California homeless. It’s better than Lincoln’s Gettysburg address . Lincoln never made it on TV unlike Trump.
