The same thing happened when Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" hit theatres 30 years ago!  Christians were protesting theatres and I remember a bomb scare at one of the theatres in Vancouver.  There are fanatics in any religion...not just Islam!

You bet - but dont remember anyone dying re: Last Temptation........if somebody was dumb enough to make the 'Last Temptation of Muhammed' well I can almost assure you there would be bloodshed over it....remember not so long ago people getting killed in France over cartoons of him, little cartoons! - Charlie Hebdo massacre and then a teacher in 2020 being beheaded for showing a caricature in class in France again!

There is false equivalence between Islam and the other majors religions IMO and it ignores what everyone implicitly knows but is too afraid to say lest they be accused of Islamophobia -  which is the volume and sheer brutality and barbarity of attacks perpetrated on per worshiper basis in the name of Muhammed dwarfs any of the other major world religions.

I can understand this comment, but I think the reaction to this hero is overwhelming opposite.

That he is a Muslim and standing up against radical Islam is a wonderful act of bravery.

How about something more like: he is human and standing up for other humans.

You see it everyday on Faux news. Fair and Balanced.

Edit : Actually faux news is more fair and balanced than the cultists here.

So the [dying] main stream media gets a pass.  Couldn't make the point any better.

Actually, with limited exception Fox holds itself out as opinion commentary.  Which is what the networks should have been doing for decades and likely the reason why no one pays much attention to their "news" coverage.  Or is it mere coincidence?

+1 - and we are seeing it everyday now.  The West can't co-exist with radical Islam.

It's a religion of conquest, not of peace. Most Muslims are fine people sure, but the religion itself is pretty toxic. I say this as an agnostic/atheist who thinks all religions are stupid and a waste. But this one takes the cake in being insane.

Having been Malaysia and Indonesia several times now, and talking to random everyday folks, I much prefer their brand of Islam than the middle eastern ones.

Historically Islam spread to East Asia mostly through commerce and not conquest as it was in the initial phase of Caliphate. So it is in the Middle East that it left the most scars as it spread by the sword.

Today the majority of Muslim of population are in East Asia. That said given the majority of historical scars, and current scars are in the Middle East, most of what we know (or think we know) is from the latter and that drives narrative.

That is my take.

PS:

On a side note, I think folks in the Western world should really educate themselves of the things the Dutch, Portuguese, French and British did in east Asia.

Its more than that.  Those practicing one religion - Islam - are always the perpetrators of such violence while those engaged in other religions today only resort to violence in defense of their rights to practice their religions or even exist.

No doubt, and don't forget the USA with their forays into Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Indonesia.  The CIA has never had to account for their unspeakable actions.

This!  Even Trump's most ardent supporters here at least share some balance and perspective.  You may not see it that way but that demonstrates the very issue.

??? Have you read the forum????

I agree. I'm trying to be somewhat charitable since it's Christmas. In general, a religion that preaches convert or die, must be controlled or removed from the west - as the fanatics will never co-exist with Western values.  And I don't think we want to get started on Sharia law or arranged child marriages, less the board blow up.

We in the USA watch it closely in Europe and say

"not going to happen here".

The 542 drone strikes that Obama authorized killed an estimated 3,797 people, including 324 civilians. As he reportedly told senior aides in 2011: “Turns out I’m really good at killing people. Didn’t know that was gonna be a strong suit of mine.”

https://www.cfr.org/blog/obamas-final-drone-strike-data?fbclid=IwY2xjawOtTItleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeUv3bj5dbyda45mDVVaI2-ahemyODV9e2TM2aAkHwST8zDw63ZI7odBm5tCE_aem_NWV4__9jWmxC5_sOiRB_Ug

That’s actually a pretty good combatant to civilian killed ratio in a  war. It means he killed ~10 combatants for every civilian killed (if the math is correct). And very little US casualties with these remote drone strikes. Osama bin Laden too was killed in during this administration.

I think you forgot that these are confirmed kills and the range is 350-850.

And his Yemen strikes killed 55 civilians (mostly women & children) and 0 terrorists.

One of his other drone strikes in Pakistan killed 48 terrorists and 57 civilians. So much for targeted strikes....  kudos to the baby killer Obama.

But the real story, of course, is how proud he was of his 4000 killings.

Yes, the deaths during the Crusades were kept to a minimum...hardly anyone died in the name of Christianity.  Also, aboriginal genocide didn't happen when the missionaries arrived.

The fact is, zealots in any religion tend to lay waste to society.  It's just that Islamic radicals are the ones that are the primary perpetrators in this era.  But most religions have their turn at one point or another.

Cheers!

Sadly, just look at the disgusting record of the residential schools and the Roman Catholic Church. And that is more or less modern day.

Oh, you know how the religious are...

If anything good happens, it must have come from their team.

If anything bad happens, obviously it's because of an outsider.

Same reptilian mentality humans have been clinging to for millenia...

For a while there, some of the stuff he was doing made sense to the GOP.  But after a while, the drunk, crazy bitch always shows up and shows his true colors.  I think they are slowly getting tired of this "alcoholic" personality!  I think Susie Wiles nailed it on the head!  Cheers!

These sports teams are outrageous. If the counties would stand in unity, they wouldn't be able to play one another like a fiddle. Same story with the Hunt family trying to play KCMO vs KCKS.

Let them go to Venezuela who cares.

It's not the taxpayer's job to pay for infrastructure for these guys' megaprojects.
