So at the end of the day, who cares what anyone says or thinks? Results - good or bad - are all that matter and at least we've got someone in office who is making an effort. I think most Presidents/Prime Ministers make an effort...but many run into partisan politics and don't have majority governments. Trump faced that problem like every other politician in his first term. Now in his second he has all the cards...that makes it a hell of a lot easier! The surprising thing is with all those advantages, including the Supreme Court, he still hasn't managed to achieve most of his mandate. As I mentioned in a post previously a couple of weeks ago, he's maybe accomplished 25% of the things he wanted and only to a modest degree...other than the southern border, none have been of equal success. And that was achieved by breaking almost every constitutional amendment dealing with the rights of individuals! Cheers!
whiskybravo Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) In addition to crime, poor city governance has had a negative effect on quality of life. Take Columbus Circle. Once a majestic, serene threshold into Central Park and a symbol of civic grandeur, it has increasingly become cluttered, noisy, and commercialized in recent years. There’s a big difference between vibrant city life and unmanaged clutter. The latter erodes civic dignity. Since the pandemic, NYC has allowed more permissive public spaces with expanded street vending, looser enforcement of noise and trash. There’s a kind of “let it ride” attitude toward informal economy in public space. Street vendors are often framed as vulnerable workers, immigrants, or low-income entrepreneurs and cracking down can appear cruel or anti-poor. However loosely regulated street vending undercuts nearby small brick and mortar businesses, especially diners, bodegas, and cafes that are already fighting for survival. These traditional businesses pay rent, property taxes, and utilities. They comply with health codes and fire safety regulations. They employ staff with payroll taxes, insurance, and often union wages. It’s all ass backwards. Edited September 3, 2025 by whiskybravo

Will they just stand around like little dogs barking at the Big Dog to fight their fight?? Probably... Thanks Mike [ @cubsfan ], Here : Link to my post of March 1st 2025. Which Big Dog? Russia? Putin has already himself crippled his army, air force and navy! It's about finishing his own work in progress, actually! Russia hasen't been able to conquer more than a small bite of an originally friendly and peaceful neighbour in 3 1/2 years! The rest of Europe is gradually getting aware of that Ukraine loosing in the conflict with Russia is not an option, because then they all know that one or some of us are next in line! It will not be allowed to spread because other European countries are exactly as egoistic as USA, when it really matters! - - - o 0 o - - - Last year, in November, over about three days or so, I had serious discussions with the Lady of the House, about what to do for us, if war comes to Denmark. It ended in we agreed to disagree, creating a house in the next more than a week with about no communication between us, just silence ... My point was, why even stay here in case of war, when we actually have the means to move our butts [at least temporary] to a better, more safe spot, simply just locking down our Danish home and leave. She simply did not have the same degree of mental flexibility as the one I posses. I had to say, that a I have provided total freedom for her to decide about her own life, including leaving me, if she wants [no ties!], so she had to repect that if the situation pops up, she really can't expect to demand more from me, than I was providng for her. - So : Long silence ...

Nice article @John Hjorth good work by Denmark. The Russians have captured, perhaps, another 10% of Ukraine since the conflict began - which is a huge problem for Putin, as he can't say he won enough to stop the war. So who wins in a war of attrition? The additional arms are a life saver for Ukraine - but I'd be very concerned about the manpower needs of Ukraine - that's a big hurdle to overcome.
