ourkid8 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 (edited) I don’t know if anyone is following however as the Madleen was reportedly intercepted and seized by Israeli forces in int'l waters, the UK gov must urgently seek full clarification and secure the immediate release of the vessel & its crew. The Madleen must be allowed to continue its lawful humanitarian mission to Gaza. This ship is protected under international maritime law. This Israeli government has crossed every line possible, I guess what’s another war crime/genocide on their already laundry list. please pray for their safety for these innocent humanitarians as this barbaric illegitimate government cannot be trusted. SharperDingaan Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 If you could eat everyday off of bone china plates, using silver cutlery, and drink from crystal wine glasses ... you were rich. They were very high quality status symbol things that you got at weddings, or as dowry from a wealthy aunt. Today, at a good estate sale, you can pick up the crockery and glassware at maybe 30c on the dollar, and eat like a king. So cheap, that if you break or damage the odd piece in the dishwasher, you don't really care. When it's heavily tarnished, silver plate goes for less than the metal value. Same thing with real furniture made back in the day. Nobody wants it because it's not a built in, or the right size for today's smaller apartments. IKEA is preferable. Nickles and dimes to be made for merely putting them to use. SD

This ship wasn't protected under international maritime law. Blockades can extend into international waters. Now, before Oct 7th, you'd probably have an argument that the blockade was illegal. However, since Oct 7th, Israel is at war with Gaza's legitimate and elected Gov't (Hamas), ergo, the blockade is now legal, and our friend Greta was lawfully detained. I guess you can add that to the list of misinformation pushed by the pro-Palestinian side.

Such BS - Hamas turned down a ceasefire deal last week that would have allowed humanitarian aid. The Hamas terrorists, obviously, do not care about the Gazans one bit.

Don’t you have an ounce of humility for the woman and children being slaughtered and systematically starved to death? SMH. Forget about hamaas, you are a human first. Protect the children for gods sake!!! Israel has no intention of allowing humanitarian aid into Palestine as we just witnessed. They are absolutely evil to the core. Partly because of complexity in design (computer chips, etc) or the cost of production has become significantly cheaper. 50 years ago, almost everyone owned their cars for 10 plus years. Even if you bought a second car, you would keep each for at least 10 years. Same with quality furniture...it was passed down generations and would last generations. I have some fantastic Thomasville mahogany tables (coffee, side tables, and sofa table) passed down to me from my Mom and Dad that they bought over 50 years ago. I had them refinished by a professional and they are as solid as a tree trunk! My Dad also bought tons of jewelry for my Mom, thinking they would pass these precious gems and gold down to other generations. Well, they didn't figure that their oldest son wouldn't get married or have kids, and their youngest son has one son and one daughter. They didn't have any daughters of their own. So my niece is the big winner! She'll be inheriting a shitload of jewelry. My Mom also decided to give away a few precious rings, necklaces to some of her nieces and best friends...she knows she can't take it with her, so giving away something meaningful to each was very touching. My sister-in-law got the gold-plated cutlery set from my parent's wedding. Probably worth $8-10K today. She loves it because it matches the redesign of their home and she loves to entertain. Nobody wants the china...a complete set of Royal Albert china...you can't throw this stuff in the dishwasher. So I'm taking all of the damn cups and saucers because as I said, coffee and tea taste a shitload better in $80 cups and saucers! Cheers!

The blockade's legality remains contested, with differing interpretations among international bodies and legal experts. There is a legitimate argument that it violates international law by imposing collective punishment on civilians as per the UNHRC and ICRC.

I don't want to see the Gazans suffer, but when your people were almost completely made extinct just over 80 years ago, and the nations surrounding where you were forced to rebuild want to see you made extinct again, that kind of puts you in a situation where you want to eliminate the threat. The other option is that Israel nukes Iran...would you rather see 2M dead or 20M dead. The Israeli's cannot let aid in directly because there is no guarantee that aid won't be used to fund Hamas. I don't like what is happening there, and I think Bibi has pushed the boundaries as far as he can, which needs to be investigated...but I also can't see how Israelis can simply "rinse and repeat" these attacks on their population for eternity. Cheers!

There is no legitimate argument that Israel is imposing collective punishment on civilians by blockading Gaza. Israel permits enough food to enter Gaza to provide for the civilians. Let's talk about Hamas stealing food that enters Gaza. The same food that is meant for its civilians.

There was nothing remotely "civilian" or "humane" about the life of women and children in Gaza before October 7th. The only chance surviving people there have is if Israel completely exterminates Hamas.
