As I said before, I mostly avoided the political threads here (even the ones from years ago), but things are clearly coming to a head, and quite frankly IDGAF who I offend at this point. I'm mostly posting legitimate articles and op eds, and you'll notice that none of the trumpers on here seem to be coming back with rebuttals from reputable sources. Nothing but comical party line mental gymnastics.

 

If Parsad decides to ban me I'll just have to live with it, but I do not have to remain silent in the real world, and fully expect to start having run ins with law enforcement if we continue to slide into an alt-right terrorist hellscape.

As a 23 year old, it seems to me that the older generations are currently sacrificing the younger ones through broken entitlement systems and debt issuance.

 

And of course Trump now only makes the problem worse.

Inflation isn't new and it isn't going away.

 

My grandfather is gone now but he lived to be 102 years old.  One of his favorite conversation topics very late in life was to ask me what things cost today.  His mind was always blown.  As was mine when he detailed buying a home for $4,000 with a 30 year mortgage.

 

If you are 23 years old, my advice is to join the asset inflation train early and often and with the responsible use of fixed rate long term tax advantaged leverage to help you short a little bit of that fiat cash you seem to have a love/hate relationship with.

 

Don't get into a situation where you own no assets and sign up for the whole 'trade my time for money' situation.  It was always a bad plan but doesn't look super promising in the artificial intelligence age.

Yes we have a bad situation with increasing wealth disparity but some of that is just the age of the people and the long lives they have had to compound their savings.  It's no surprise that old people have all of the money.  Use that kind of Munger-like inversion to reverse engineer how to become them when you are old.  I know several extremely wealthy families and I can only think of one that didn't start out with something close to nothing (by today's standards at least).

 

I had dinner two nights ago with a young lady I manage a small investment account for (for free).  She is an old friend of my wife.  She has always struggled financially and never had enough money to get by so she routinely needs cash out of her small investment account.  She recently found out she will inherit 8 figures and was genuinely completely surprised.  Her Dad drives an old rav4 and she has 4 siblings.  She wasn't so much 'over the moon' as she was shocked and kind of relieved.
