LC Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Fighting a religious war is a never ending pursuit. There will be no end, no two-state solution, no cease-fire...their gods will provide an bottomless well of blind hatred. This is what happens at the extreme when religion runs the state. Best we can do is isolate both sides so they are using sticks and stones vs. drones and missiles. But, that will never happen.
Blake Hampton Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 I still don't understand why no one is talking about Sudan. I read that possible deaths from famine could be in the 10 - 25 million range.
Blake Hampton Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 What's currently happening in Gaza will do nothing more than fuel future terrorism.

I agree with @cubsfan, Palestinians voted for Hamas (however long ago), and they get the leaders they voted for. I also think Palestinians, like the germans and the japanese in ww2, need total loss where there is no question that they lost. Not hudna. Total surrender. Only then can they start reforming. You and I rarely agree on anything, so it's nice to see some common ground. The only worthwhile victory is "unconditional surrender", which entails total humiliation of the enemy. Palestinians will learn, that their chosen leader have led them to death and destruction without a prayer of victory. Why??? All for nothing of course...... tragic beyond belief. Nothing but hatred accomplished, paid for in innocent lives.... when your leadership takes you down this path and insures your destruction,,,, well - you picked the wrong leadership...... can Hezbollah, Houtis, Syrians, Iran help you..... I guess not. FAFO. So, so sad. All decisive wars have to end in total humiliation...... so pointless, but radical Islam demands it. Let them start again,,,,, their leaders will be murdered, innocents will die. But you asked for it.

The last thing the world wants to hear about is "black on black violence". It's a very inconvenient narrative, I know Iive in Chicago, and because 95% of black murders is blacks murdering blacks, you are not allowed to talk about it. Anyway - that's Sudan, that's South Africa. IF you say it, you'll be branded a racist. Look no further than Uganda. Millions die? Don't talk about it. It's much more effective to talk about whites killing blacks. Ignore the elephant in the room. South African crime is off the charts.

Ahhh, let's not feel sorry for Elon. Arguably the smartest man in the world doesn't know when he's being used by arguably the stupidest man in the world? He was perfectly fine prancing around Mara-Lago, giving the Nazi salute on stage and funding Trump's campaign with $300M...poor Elon...fucker is getting what he deserved! Cheers!

At your own risk, you can search for actual images beyond the idiot standing at the window with his hands bloody (VERY NSFW and GORE - but here is a link) . These are "Palestinian civilians" holding organs - hearts, intestines, etc., that they ripped out and strung up. I have an old computer I have in storage and have a video of it too if you care to go down that lane. Yeah, let's leave the gruesome pictures out of the site...I deleted the ones with the two sick children as well. Cheers!

I remember a post by Lars [ @Viking ] pre merger of all political topics here on CofB&F in the topic about the Russian-Ukranian war' then, now merged into the political CofB&F 'soup' of that merger somewhere, stating about the Russian population that it was having no democratic culture, nor mindset. In Microsoft language, is was long time ago called WYSIWYG. Ignorance and lack of culture are the worst enemies of progress. Viking is a wise man.
Spekulatius Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) Gaza feels like Vietnam war remake ina different location. Hamas= Vietcong. Israel can will all the battles but lose the war. How ? Because they become isolated in the world diplomatically. it seems that even Trump get irritated and even if he remains on an Israel wide, he won’t be around forever and then what? What if polls go against Israel then I don’t think Trump is going to back Bibi either for long - he is known to change his mind quickly. Bibi does not really have a winning strategy, his strategy seems to remain in power as long as there is war. Many European and neutral countries who supported Israel (more or less) are now criticizing them.p, so Israel becomes more isolated. I think Hamas may achieve a political win here even if they lose militarily. Again, look at what happened in Vietnam. Edited May 29, 2025 by Spekulatius

Both Trump and Musk use other people as tools frequently, so this should come as no surprise. Both needed each other but have different vision. The thing with Elon is while he is very intelligent, he has subpar social intelligence, which is quite evident when he was on display with Doge.

Now that's a good one, after a totally brilliant military campaign. Hamas, Hezbollah leadership - wiped out with stunning tactics. Iranian radar - totally demolished - now unprotected from IDF Air Force. Houthi's creamed.... Good luck putting leadership back in place - they have about a 60 day shelf life. Good thing they have hostages - otherwise, there leverage is gone.

The organization that failed to condemn Oct 7th attack that included burning, mutilating, and raping of Israeli citizens but somehow found the courage and words to criticize Israeli response? Be serious. 50k dead in Gaza. Say 20k of them are Hamas. 30k civilians make up ~2% of the population. That's not an annihilation. I separate the average Palestinian from Hamas. Say you are in 1967 and just finished the war. If you had the powers to decide (and knowing what you know now), what is the one or two (or three) things that you would do differently as the Israeli government, when it comes to newly conquered territories and people within. The year is 1967 and you need to decide.

Its a lot easier killing unarmed woman/children/press in the Gaza but that's just my opinion. The US also struggled against militia in Iraq. Doesn't make US any less powerful. It's hard fighting militia as a conventional force. See Lebanese civil war with all its massacres if you want to understand how to combat militia effectively (on the battlefield).

dealraker Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 (edited) Interesting from Financial Times in the recent tax bill: Snippet: "But what investors should also fret about, if they care about the state of Treasuries or are a non-American entity holding US assets, is a clause buried in the bowels of this behemoth called section 899. This would enable the US Treasury to impose penalties on “applicable persons” from “discriminatory foreign countries” by increasing US federal income tax and withholding rates by up to 20 percentage points on their US investments, on a variable scale. It might thus be viewed as a novel “revenge tax” (as some lawyers call it) that Trump could use to bully friends and foes alike in trade negotiations". Edited May 30, 2025 by dealraker
