Interesting from Financial Times:

Snippet:
"But what investors should also fret about, if they care about the state of Treasuries or are a non-American entity holding US assets, is a clause buried in the bowels of this behemoth called section 899. This would enable the US Treasury to impose penalties on “applicable persons” from “discriminatory foreign countries” by increasing US federal income tax and withholding rates by up to 20 percentage points on their US investments, on a variable scale. It might thus be viewed as a novel “revenge tax” (as some lawyers call it) that Trump could use to bully friends and foes alike in trade negotiations".

Why would foreigners buy US debt with that sword hanging over their head?  Watch a whole host of conduit vehicles pop up with the cost of them reflected in US borrowing rates.

Status on American aspirations for taking [over ? / under ?] Greenland by now :

The Economist [May 19th 2025] : American threats push Greenland closer to Denmark.

If somebody here on CofB&F ask me about this part of the article :

Quote

... But old wounds run deep. One neuralgic issue remains the 4,500 Inuit girls and women who were forcibly fitted with contraceptive coils by Danish doctors during the 1960s and 1970s. Many Greenlanders argue it constituted a form of genocide. The Danish government is yet to issue an official apology. Results of a joint investigation are due in September, which could yet engender another surge in support for independence. ...

I'm going to answer such part, too. 😐

You know what I would do...

The question was meant to understand what Israel could do in a positive way going back to 1967, if it had to do the whole thing again as an power that suddenly came to control a newly captured territory that came also with people living in it.

The question was not what is the easiest short cut to an unwanted problem.

I have no clue what Israel could have done to prevent Gaza disaster. I think none Israel’s attempts to defuse the situation was rewarded. For example when Israel pulled back their settlers decades ago, Hamas used that vacuum to install rocket artillery. The list goes on. Also, Gaza issue was established prior to 1967 with Britain leaving the area in 1948.

I don’t think Israel can solve this on their own. They probably need to work with their Arab neighbors Egypt, Jordan, Saudis (money), UAE (money) and more or less kick the ball in their court.

Perhaps these counties should offer citizenship to the Gaza populace willing to relocate. There ought to be a few after all this mayhem. Note that Gaza was controlled by Egypt until 1967 (maybe longer) but the populace there never had Egypt citizenship or could acquire it. That tells you something. Egypt wants nothing to do with Gaza or their population, or so it seems. Thats not to see that Israel is. To making a. Ist sie here  bombing Gaza to smithereens. The solution can only be a diplomatic one because everything else ends up with terrorism. I don’t think anyone has ever figured out how to win a war against terrorists.

In any case, I think Israel’s relationship with many Arab nations is good enough to negotiate a solution with them. I guess that’s my answer, but it would not have been possible in 1967, I think.

Are you aware of any solutions that have worked in the past? My imagination frankly fails me.  I am curious to hear what you think since you know the region very well.

Whassup' with Leon? Looks like he fell into a K-hole for a minute there.

Damn, that video looks pretty bad.  Pretty scary actually. If he’s struggling with some sort of substance abuse, I hope there is someone close to him that can speak up, or help him out. 🙏

😂 - I had to google that - it even has its own Wikipedia article. Yeah, he looks like something dragged into the White House by the cat.

He told somebody, I diden't catch the name in the video, to 'have a go for it against him', which that other guy actually and unexpectedly did.

And it is in the same video where your POTUS calls him [Musk]  the smartest guy on the planet. 💡🙄

I'm sorry for posting this in the wrong topic, it rightly belongs in the jokes topic. [ 😅 ]

Edit :

The above content in this post was not in any way reasonable, nor fair, it was a small accident Mr. Musk has while playing around with his son, ref. below.

I'll let the post stay here, thereby hanging myself to dry, with regard to precision needed in being totally clear cut in dealing with sources, to get things right.

I read that he said he told his son (X?) to punch him in the face?

Thank you, @Buckeye,

You're right.

The Idepentdent [May 31st 2025] : Musk says black eye came from his son’s punch as he sports shiner during Oval Office meeting with Trump [where also the video clip of it is available].

So, really totally harmless and a nothing burger, - just father getting a bit physical with his son under play, interaction and concact.

I have edited my post above, as it was misleading, and unfair to Mr. Musk.

Elon should take a few weeks off. He really needs it. Maybe he need rehab too. His behavior and appearance is bizarre.

But Tesla went too the moon because he says he will go back to work . You can’t beat Elon, even if he looks beaten.

Best bets based on being physically close to Leon would be either Stephen Miller (doubtful because of the aforementioned lack of upper body strength) or more likely, Scott Bessent.

TBF though, it could be any one of 7 billion different people minus a few million simps.
