frommi Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 sold a lot of BTI and JDEP bought Greggs plc, Bunzl plc, CHCT, EIX, O tobacco is now down from 35% of the portfolio to 8%

I could see them continuing to do well if they can go more international. Looked at it several times and passed, only because I can’t see the future well enough. But at a PE of 11 it’s hard to see how you lose much money here, and with some luck you might make a ton.

KPO Posted July 19, 2025 Posted July 19, 2025 Finally dipped a toe into CNC. This sector is impaired, but this is starting to feel like BA at $118 a few years ago when the analysts capitulated.

But even in GB they should be able to grow a bit, since they still open more stores than close. Add inflation, share buybacks and it should grow at decent rates, especially since they are not levered yet. Edited July 19, 2025 by frommi

Ireland would seem like a good choice although it won’t move the needle that much on the share price. Would like to see them in the European and North American markets. They did have an exploration of Belgium with some stores but they wound that up. I feel they do better in NA. Maybe the market is just too saturated. Overall though it’s a stock I watch, might even get a slice at this valuation and see how it runs
Mick92 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 Should probably take it to a Greggs thread if there is one, but I'm not sure about international growth. I think their food has appeal to UK tastes and would work well in Ireland too, but not sure if Europeans are likely to take to it as easily. I think it could work in North America but competition is fierce. It's cheap enough to probably do okay anyway. The UK is pretty cheap in general. I'm thinking of moving a bit of cash over there.

Also the hard market in insurance is still there...Right now Insurance stocks are getting sold off with health insurance stocks but these are two different sectors...

thowed Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 more TPL, LB, & back in to BRO. Pleased to see smart people on here doing similar (though I know others will find it heretical seeing the valuation of these Oil Royalties!). Also back in to MSCI on the drop, but not sure how I feel about it.

Also back in to MSCI on the drop, but not sure how I feel about it. I thought about adding to MSCI too, but I don't have any dry powder right now. Sold some short term puts on PM and if they get exercised in a few weeks, then I'll probably keep 100 shares for the coffee can portfolio and sell the rest of them.
Jaygo Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 Bought some BRK.B for the fist time in a very long time. It was part of my monthly purchases for almost 9 years from my first purchase in 2014. I stopped in favor of the gold space and some other local insurer around mid 2022 Something Sokol said at this years Fairfax dinner really stood out but I didn't act on it as I was dumping USD into CAD. As of yesterday much of the CAD has been flipped back to USD and in Able hands now. He said dont sleep on BRK, Greg Able is a heck of an operator or something like that. My feeling was he was in contact with Able and felt the levers were being pulled to increase profits of the subs.

Spekulatius Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Bought a chunk of FILA this morning on the drop. I think Roak Capital has a SOP thesis out there based on their stake in DOM (Indian business they have a stake in).
