To the larger point, yeah when you've got hundreds of thousands fleeing a hellhole at once, it's logistical nightmare to manage. And do we really expect them to show up to a court date to be deported back to poverty and crime? One can blame Biden for allowing them in, if it's that easy ignoring the humanitarian claims of children. But when there's minimal HHS budget and a republican congress against you, the alternative was even worse. I wouldn't expect MAGA to make those hard choices, though. Easier to just ignore the problem.

Kudos to you for that, and acknowledging that in spite of TDS by many here on this board, the voting majority in the US supports the current polices in place regardless whether anyone here in the US or abroad feels otherwise.  And for the record, when it comes to major issues plaguing the Globe there is only one leader willing to stand up for badly needed change and it is the one individual many here love to hate.  In fact, I don't see any other country doing a damn thing about the issues I care about most.

Yep, this is right. In general, as a society, we should be against censorship. The community itself should be able to cut down bad ideas through criticism. (In fact, if someone wants to censor discussion about a particular topic, I think it increases the chance that they are proposing ideas that can't actually stand up to scrutiny.)

One of the other nice side effects is that it creates a nice filter to evaluate people's reasoning abilities, and weigh their non-political comments appropriately. For me, the model isn't based on whether I agree with the politics, but rather whether the reasoning is nuanced. I think people completely lacking nuance when it comes to political topics are likely to have a similar lack of nuance in their thought processes when it comes to investing.

Greg, it's because consumption has essentially flat-lined for those in the middle income and lower.  If deals aren't made and at some point tariffs are implemented in the course of ordinary business, the risk isn't inflation but deflation as consumption collapses.  Be careful what you wish for!  Cheers!
