You may believe it terribly unjust, but that doesn't matter (and why we build militaries). They can either negotiate an end now or surrender unconditionally after some time and greater cost. That's the position he's in, whether he understands it or not. Accepting Trump peace deal is probably similar to unconditional surrender, that’s the issue. The USA has taken the same position than Russia and that’s basically that Ukraine is “ little Russia” and belongs to them.
Parsad Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 The World's Biggest Shyster just blamed Biden for the price of eggs. Just like Zelenskyy instigated the whole White House brouhaha! Cheers!

Sad part is that the Democrats have no one and nothing to rebut or fight this with. Trott out Nancy Pelosi...have poor one-legged Texas congressman Al Green stand on one leg and protest, then have him marched out. Like is this the best the Democrats can do? And some of the issues that are important to both parties and Americans were never dealt with. So now the Dems sit and watch and twiddle their thumbs because there is no Obama or Bill Clinton coming to the rescue this time. Cheers!

Post-1776 anyways C'mon, you know the majority of those people are glitches/errors/etc that weren't found or dealt with. Probably half those checks go to an address and get sent back to the government. Yes, they should have been discovered and corrected, but you know they were errors. Now where there might be fraud...kudos to DOGE for finding it. But so far, they've barely made a tiny dent in the deficit, let alone covering even a tiny portion of it. Cheers!

lnofeisone Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 Here we go - https://federalnewsnetwork.com/federal-newscast/2025/03/national-science-foundation-rehires-half-of-employees-fired-two-weeks-ago/ NSF is now bringing back workers who were illegally let go. They will also be getting back pay, and I suspect there will be lawsuit compensation for them in the future. If only this admin had followed the process and done it the right way, as most of the HR departments had told them to do. Talk about waste and abuse. Throw in DOJ lying to courts on OPM's behalf and you have fraud.

The GOP can be the party of tarriffs, entitlements, blue collar workers and isolationism. Golden opportunity for the Dems to go full in on business, free trade and global alliances. Just need to dump the trans cult and green cult.

There's more to unpack than just the Dems don't have a real leader. Cheers! I just wrote a great response and somehow lost it. So a quicker and dirtier response: 1) There's always been a latent racist/nationalistic/anti-immigrant group in America. 2) Yet more women and minorities voted for Trump in 2024 than in 2016 or 2020. 3) This is an issue of the Democrats moving to the (minority) progressive persuasion of their party even though the American people can't stand it 4) The middle moves elections, not the entrenched voters on both sides, and the Democrats of the last few years have moved so far out of line with the American people that they held their nose and voted for Donald Trump. 5) I bet John Fetterman would have won. Not because he's a white, working class man's man (although I'm sure some voters would love that), but because he's a centrist 6) All great Democrat presidents (except perhaps FDR) have been centrists.
Mephistopheles Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 (edited) Yep. Trump got record Hispanic vote, record black vote. Looks like none of that Latinx and BLM crap had an effect on the intended targets did it? Bunch of fucking tools. Edited March 5, 2025 by Mephistopheles

Yet, somehow he got into the Presidential Inauguration and no one cared. So it's not exactly just middle America picking sides. There's a definite...you can do this and you can't...just the other side of the spectrum now. I still think overall it was really...so this what we have to choose from? One loser versus the other? We'll take the devil we know. Cheers!
formthirteen Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 What Does Xi’s Meeting With Entrepreneurs Mean for the Private Sector? https://carnegieendowment.org/posts/2025/02/what-does-xis-meeting-with-entrepreneurs-mean-for-the-private-sector?lang=en Quote The right kind of pep talks may indeed create short-term boosts to confidence, which in turn can create short-term boosts to household consumption and spur businesses to eagerly respond. However, the structural view of the decline in consumption growth implies that without a transformation of the growth model toward a higher household share of GDP—which inevitably requires either explicit or implicit transfers from businesses or governments, showing why it is so difficult to pull off)—confidence-boosting pep talks won’t create sustainable increases in domestic demand. Quote Before they change their minds about Chinese growth prospects in 2025, most analysts will be watching to see if there is a transformation in Chinese fiscal policy, with more fiscal expansion directed toward the demand side of the economy rather than to the supply side. If that happens, then meetings like the one over which Xi presided on February 17 may indeed help, but if it doesn’t, these meetings are unlikely to cause much more than a surge in hopeful articles in the Chinese and foreign press.

Paarslaars Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 (edited) This aged poorly. 4 hours ago, Parsad said: That and some latent racist/nationalistic/anti-immigrant tendencies sprouting up in the general populace. You're not really objective on this topic in my opinion. Some of the finest people I know come from immigrant backgrounds and yet I am strongly opposed to the current immigration policies in most of the western world. This is nothing 'latent', this is purely based on statistical evidence I am presented with. We are getting overrun by more people we can handle, many are refusing to accept western laws/values and vastly increase the crime rates of the countries they move to. Mainly middle-east & sub-Sahara African immigrants ruining it for the rest but oh well... Edited March 5, 2025 by Paarslaars
