We have Germany, France and the UK creating a separate nuclear umbrella. Japan and Korea are going to need to re-evaluate their security posture and nuclear strategy. The odds of a global military or nuclear confrontation have increased. The doomsday clock is 89 seconds to midnight: https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/ More UN stable? You've got to be kidding. Way too much there to address in posts but Wow, just Wow. Where would Europe be without the US? Don't have to answer. BTW, this entire discussion reflects how quickly people forget certain REAL issues that were about to destroy the planet as we know it just months ago. Remember Tariffs? Because there are so many prize tiers and smaller payouts, your chance of winning something is much higher than with many weekly lotteries, even though the first prize odds are still very long. The Christmas Lottery’s Extraordinary Draw will distribute a total of €2.772 billion in prizes, around €70 million more than last year, so there’s an enormous amount of money being shared out across Spain. For 2025, the first prize, the Gordo of Christmas, pays €4 million per series, the second prize €1,250,000 per series, and the third €500,000 per series. There are also two fourth prizes of €200,000 per series and eight fifth prizes of €60,000 per series. Poorer people often have a colourful Pinata (El Gordo) strung up for Navidad, that the kids bash to get at the small candies inside; the bigger (fatter) and more colourful the better ... hence the application to Trump. El Gordo also happens to be a Mexican drug dealer ... very Trump https://www.infobae.com/mexico/2026/01/07/cae-el-gordo-junto-con-ocho-miembros-de-la-barredora-del-cjng-en-puebla/ SD Yea! And apparantly they also have another amusing tradition, at least in Catalonia: Caga Tio:)) "Caga Tió literally means "Pooping Log" in Catalan and refers to a beloved Christmas tradition where a log with a face and hat is "fed" treats by children, then beaten with sticks on Christmas Eve to make it "poop" small gifts and sweets. The name comes from caga (poop) and tió (log), not the Spanish tío (uncle), though it's sometimes mistranslated as "Uncle Crapper" "Shit, tió, hazelnuts and nougats, do not shit herrings, for they are too salty, shit nougats for they taste better. Shit, tió, almonds and nougats, and if you don't want to shit I will hit you with a stick! Shit, tió!" These people sure know how to celebrate:)!

Naturally, there is something about the proportions on this Greenland thingy going on, where the proportitions aren't similar for an American citizen [like you are] [US population ~345 million I think] and i.e. a Danish citizen [~6 million, of which Greenland ~56 thousand]. Your post above actually constitutes a great basis for dissecting this thingy. I personally both curse Greenland and at same time it's intertwined in my own life on a personal level, so I'm attracted to it, in a very weird way, so it will become kind of personal. I've never been there, but I hope go there, some day. I think it's a really fascinating place. [All while I'm by now also appreciating our cheap district heating here! ] So, I'll elaborate here, over time time. Just dump it in exchange for say 10 year GLP exclusivity in US for NOVO. Trump likes to deal, he may take it! (kidding...what else to do in a such a times?) Btw, I think I remember, that you posted about Greenland in the first Trump term and I responded, saying it was probably a click bait. Now it seems clearly I was wrong, it was not. There was once something called Pax Americana and the peace dividend. It was in the US' strategic interest to provide a global security framework for smaller nations and the US reaped the rewards of a huge increase in global peace and prosperity of the global architecture it created after WW2. The lesson today is now if you don't have nuclear weapons you are just prey for larger countries. Germany is restarting its military. Japan will most likely follow. If I was Japan I would certainly be procuring nuclear weapons imminently. Hell, even in Canada we are asking ourselves why we gave up our nukes. Its sad really, the US, a once mighty and well respected nation, has just become a grotesque caricature of its worse instincts. A president openly admitting they are just going to plunder a nations oil resources. A secretary of war full of false bravado and machismo. Stephen Miller a literal white supremacist and imperialist. It just like everyone assumed with the Iraq war but now it is just plain out in the open. Not to mention corruption on an unprecedented scale. How the mighty have fallen.

The tragedy is eventually these leaders of these countries will be asked, "what is the ROI of all this military reinvestment?" And so politically they will be incentivized to increase utilization of their military investments. Not a good thing for global peace. But hey Trump and probably MAGA won't be around to deal with those consequences so who cares.

The cost of a few bombs to insure US security is nothing. 1) I would argue that nothing has changed from a US security perspective, the VZ regime is still in place. Even with respect to drugs if the US had intelligence on drug boats they could have just intercepted them and VZ is not the main source of either cocaine or fentanyl coming into the country. 2) there was a months long military and intelligence process to extract Maduro, I'm not sure the cost involved but I assume it is significant.
dealraker Posted January 7 Posted January 7 If all things must run through Trump the issue increasingly may be his control of your capital decisions particularly how profitable he thinks you should be. I am literally and I mean absolutely amazed that he's not come after the insurance industry!

Huh??? Nothing has changed...right... Maduro is out. Venezuelan drug boats are being blown to bits. Tren de agua gang members can't get in the US and are being expelled faster than a speeding bullet. Oil can't leave Venezuela. Other than that....nothing has changed!
