Thought experiment stolen from Sam Harris to help you understand what I think people instinctively understand....what would be the consequences of a musical called "The Book of Muhammad" ala Book of Mormon lampooning Islam running in a theatre in Midtown Manhattan? You know the answer....the Theatre would require round the clock police barricade, bomb threats would ensure, the cast, writers would be under fatwa and their lives would be in genuine in danger etc. etc. 1B is a lot of people.....there are alot of Christians out there too.....and there would be no concern running a show called the Book of Jesus....could something violent happen at the Book of Jesus sure....but if you ran the "The Book of Muhammad" I'm almost certain something violent and crazy would happen around it. So I think what people realize is that Islam at its extremes has violent radical element that marks it out as unusual....now Christianity has it too......what makes Islam unusual (potentially because of its relative youth) is just the numbers of its followers globally who seem to live out at that extreme end of the radicalized spectrum. cwericb Posted December 16, 2025 Posted December 16, 2025 Guys I learned a long, long time ago that arguing religion with people of different faiths is like arguing politics with someone like Cubs. They have their own religion and are convinced that their religion is the only one that is right and you are not going to change that. Discussing religion here, under the "Political" heading is simply a waste of time and space and is just one more reason to get pissed off at other board members. Perhaps we should move on. At least political parties and presidents reset every few years rather than millenniums.

Most Muslims are fine people sure, but the religion itself is pretty toxic. I say this as an agnostic/atheist who thinks all religions are stupid and a waste. But this one takes the cake in being insane.

But when POTUS Obama brags about killing men, women and children - total silence - and absolutely no acknowledgement of what an awful human being would say such a thing. When did Obama brag about any killings? Cheers!

The same thing happened when Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" hit theatres 30 years ago! Christians were protesting theatres and I remember a bomb scare at one of the theatres in Vancouver. There are fanatics in any religion...not just Islam! That being said, The Last Temptation of Christ was an extraordinarily good movie about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and what it was like back then! More accurate than much of the other shite movies out there about Jesus. Cheers!

Kind of goes hand in hand with politics though, which is also probably a waste of time and an extra reason to get pissed off. I love reading this thread, and I do think it helps me understand opposing viewpoints. I think that for politics and religion, it would be helpful for people to look more for their similarities than differences. It's funny how much common ground the different major world religions have. I think there's a lot of common ground between the opposing political viewpoints as well. The leaders in politics and religion have a vested interest in keeping the followers fighting over the differences.

It is hard to have a constructive conversation with anyone who can't get past the person on the way to the policies that matter.

Hmm...I'd go a bit different path and say that a more logical constructive conversation would be towards the power that an intermittent, unpredictable, and illogical force like Donnie J can have on those with a tendency for addiction...read Cubs. What surprises me is that guys like Reds and Greg, so accurate in their "call-outs" with so many... ...go dead silent on Donnie J! This, to me, shows the power of such forces. Robert Cialdini's book INFLUENCE...oh yeah! Trump and Saylor! Addict the world to the most productive mind-set in history! Crypto!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having fun this a.m.

With the same results, same outcome, some feel endlessly empowered while others feel great loss. Which is it?

Sadly nothing new here. This does not have anything remotely to do with IDF. if you read anything that suggests otherwise, it is probably nonsense and best ignored. Or rather change your source of news. As far as the Ahmad doing what he did, yeap, it must be hard for brainwashed Europeans and Americans to digest that. A Syrian hero. Noppppe. Goes against the “narrative”. Enter “Edward Crabtree”. A fake propped name that made the heroism more digestible.
