Fascinating how much interia a given military-industrial complex has. Be it Russian or Americans. It takes a major conflict to reset that inertia and introduces new ways. And then a new set of “best practices”, new doctrines establishes itself and runs for decades with a new interest groups entrenching themselves.

I would add that what is really ironic is that modern unified china was founded, not by Chinese, but by Kublai Khan, the founder of Yunnan dynasty and the last of the great Mongole khakans.
-
yeap, he was an eunuch. I think he was a relic and legacy of the Mongle empire, as conquered people (Turnians, Iranians etc) from the Middle East came to serve as administrators in China under Mongole imperial rule. Interestingly when I was in the Yunnan province back in 2013, I heard lore of Persian influence in the south. There was a guy I met who spoke funny Persian but didn’t look neither Persian nor Chinese. What !? Heh I need to read more about it. My information is very limited on the matter.

cheers ! Understood Ps: I would not be recommending if it was an opinion piece from the regime.

Cubsfan The interview is less so about the Near East (Palestine) than it is of the greater Middle East. The guest is an American who happens to be of Iranian descent. He doesn’t speak on behalf of Iranian government. He is explaining how complex machinery that runs Tehran operates and what are its interest points. You are not wrong about your statements about what was missing, but that is not what the interview was about. Thank you for your feedback. ps: I thought it was a good interview because it shows he understands Tehran. That was his value add and expertise.

Fun fact: China’ greatest Admiral was actually of Persian descent. https://www.kavehfarrokh.com/news/the-hui-communities-of-china-and-admiral-zhang-he/

the good admiral is a good lad. I always liked him. Maybe that is why he is the spokesman. he is calm and steady. I think it is the Palestinian nationalism that is the driving force. And Hamas is just the latest manifestation. Molded and reinforced over decades. Solve the question of nationalism (however hard that is) and Hamas as an idea should wither away.

I wonder how would a poll ran on the Israeli people would look like if it were ran on Oct 6th and then again Oct 8th. With the poll’ questions asking if they would like to see their nemesis eradicated. And for IDF to go “all in” and hold nothing back. Surely the desire for vengeance would have biases the results two days later after the first poll.

That only means that Bruce Flatt beat them all by IPO the “asset manager” more than a year ago. If things gets sour, no one will look back and say Brookfield top-tick the market. It was Ackman in 2024 and BX back in GFC days.

I resubscribed to CRAVE few hours ago. I am ready to go as well in 3 min. I did rewatch HOD season 1 few months ago. I think if we were to rewatch GOT some years from now (and i have not since the finale) we will probably find HOD better than GOT. But then again HOD makes sense only because of GOT's massive infrastructure built in world-building and story-telling. -

this past winter was pretty bad in Montreal. Not enough snow. Barely any. I want all my four seasons. -

it was only error in judgment because it turned it to be wrong after the fact. There is an alternative past, where he could have been right for the wrong reasons on the hedges and we would have herald him as a genius who is very much in touch.

I am not expert on the topic. but you probably need to look at how fast things are happening now (over couple hundred years) vs. historical hot and cold phases (which I am guessing happens over millennia ?) -
These are all wishful thinking, right ? $140B of the cash pile is NOT get used up, no matter how amazing Chubb might be. That said nothing wrong with a large non-controlling stake.
