Awesome idea!, @Xerxes 😎,

@Spekulatius : Photo # 1 above : Wienerschnitzel or pork chop? [but with red cabbage?]

Yes, it’s. Wienerschnitzel from pork’s chop. It’s often served with red cabbage (Ok, but not my favorite).

Do we have a foodie thread … if not

I live like 10 minutes from Joon and tried it twice. Sour cherry rice is unique and haven't had elsewhere. Worth trying.. But, there are better options in DC.

If anyone is ever in DC and want to check out a few restaurants, DM me!

In my opinion, in North America, it's hard to beat Montreal for food. We fly there twice a year to meet up with our kids (who can drive there) and spend three or four days walking and eating.

So many options. It must be brutal to try to make it in the restaurant business there. the competition being what it is.

Agree. Montreal was absolutely insane on both quality and value. And it’s even better if you’re a mediocre QSR food type junky with all the diversity on that end. Just amazing stuff food wise.

Yes! Great food on every level. The options for a great quick bite in a multitude of ethnicities, are endless.

And what a place for pastries! Guess we gotta book the next trip...

Just go to Schwartz's 10 times and die happy 🙂

I think Japan has the best food in the world.

Correct  on both 🎯

Ha, nice! I haven't been to the Waldhorn since middle school probably? Glide Brewery, which is towards South End, used to have some good authentic German food when they first opened but they've Americanized it a bit...still has decent wurst and spaetzle. If you like good authentic Japanese check out Musashi in Pineville, it's ran by a family from Sapporo.

Big fan of the low & slow BBQ here, whenever I get the chance to fire up the smoker I do...

Got the inlaws coming over for the weekend: pulled pork, burnt ends, ribs,... also a 1kg A5 wagyu steak but I'm not smoking that. 🙂

Hey Gregmal

What area did you stay or find the best? Its been a while since I was there. Maybe go with the family this summer.

Last summer we did two weeks RV trip to Quebec but avoided the cities. Mostly North East of Quebec city. Mountains, Whale watching, Fishing.  Its amazing. Similar to New Hampshire.

Also next time your up here you should check out Quebec city too.

We were recently in the downtown area.

Chez Lionel right outside Bell Center was hands down the best near stadium food I’ve ever had. Typically this sort of stuff, located next to the arenas is overpriced garbage food because they know they’ll have customers. The Artic Char and escargot was tremendous.

Reubens is a must go.

Monarque was great and quite unique.

Deville was a great brunch

Yoko Luna was awesome.

There were a few great speciality poutine places and like I said, a ton of kinda quick serve Indian and middle eastern concept places that were great.

If Anthony Bourdain thought Tokyo was the top food destination then that's good enough for me.

Thx. I have been to Gilde Brewery and depending on what you order, it pretty good. The owner after all is German, so at least he knows what it supposed to taste like. I will give Musashi a try even though it’s at the other side of the town for me. I have tried New Zealand cafe and their sushi was pretty good.

The largest deficiency in the CLT area so far is Szechuan and Dim Sum which doesn’t seem to hit the spot and/or is expensive. Even in our semi rural Boston suburbs 35 miles out we had better options within 20 min for both.

Sounds great. I don’t have a smoker , I guess that’s another life goal. On a side note - I never get why people pay a lot of money to eat steak at a restaurant. Steak is one of easiest and quickest things to make at home, especially with a grill. Buy a good piece of steak at Costco, marinate for a day in the fridge and then preheat the grill put the meat in, flip it once and you have a great steak 15 minutes later.

I can only assume it's business meals.  It's "rare" that a restaurant steak is as decent as a home made one.  But the rest of the stuff that goes on with an expensive social meal could make up for it.

I have a pellet smoker (camp chef), really easy and convenient, if you ever take the step I would start there.
