Spekulatius Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Interesting article on Argentina and why its economy is lagging partly behind the paywall . Argentina as an economy never transitioned from an Agrarian economy to a manufacturing economy. https://unchartedterritories.tomaspueyo.com/p/argentinas-original-sin?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
Dalal.Holdings Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Argentina should be a clear case study of what happens when unchecked leftists (Peronists) wield power for too long
rkbabang Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 It's interesting how the media was claiming that his party was going to lose seats. It reminds me of the reporting in the US before the Trump victory in 2016. If polls were really scientific there shouldn't be surprises like this. It is either that polls don't work anymore (maybe people don't answer unknown numbers, so the polls aren't taking an accurate representative sample of the voting population), or it is direct lying by a manipulative media. My guess is a little of both. I think it is a good thing that there is no way to accurately poll the opinions of the public anymore. Politicians will have to start saying what they actually think rather than polling the public and simply parroting what the public wants to hear to get elected.
Gregmal Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Yea Ive been a little baffled by the resurgence of "polls" and "experts" touting "their" science/facts again. It's as if they never learn.
LC Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 I think the problem is polls have been politicized. A well designed poll is representative. A poll designed to drive a specific outcome may not be. Process vs. outcome
Dalal.Holdings Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 It seems like Europe is intent on making the mistakes of Latin America of the past (Peronists, etc) while Latin America itself is turning a corner. Perhaps I should consider investing in Latam over Europe...
Dalal.Holdings Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 This is pretty much how elites react to anything they disagree with. Milei? "Devastation". Nigel Farage? "Devastation". Shutting down the southern U.S. border? "Devastation"
