Well, bodies =/= talent

And on Jamie - many of us are not billionaire CEOs of global banks.

What did Uncle Ben say ? "With great power comes great responsibility"...in other words, put up or shut up, Jamie!

Assumption is JPM hires talented people. No doubt some will be fired.

You're right. Jamie probably doesn't mind paying higher taxes in NY.  Besides, would like bad optics after he just built a new building.

I get you...walk the talk.

I lived in Houston, Texas for 9 years (oil business). Yuk.  My employer kept trying to send me back there after I went overseas. Despite cheaper housing, company tenure, retirement plan, zero state taxes, decided to leave the company and live where I wanted for quality of life reasons.

Different strokes for different folks.

Seems there's real chatter online about some serious troop movements - no real sources and I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Trump is betting his legacy on this and I can't think of anything he cares about more than that.

Spoken by someone who has never been to Iran. This quote sums up your response perfectly -  “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”

I would say you are 100% correct about this.  I haven't been to Iran, but I've been to China and the people there are no different than here...regardless of their government policies.  I also saw Anthony Bourdain when he went to Iran, and he said the people he met everywhere were very happy to meet an American, and they were warm, friendly and hospitable...I have no doubt that.

It's rarely the average citizen who is the problem.  It's usually the government...and in that respect, the Iranian theocracy has been a threat to the Middle East and Western society for some time.  Not that the U.S. CIA hasn't done any less exceptionable job with their creative destruction of decency around the world as well!  Cheers!

I listened to a summary. Why did he do this speech at all? It was a word salad as usual with the typical combination of grievances and the threats but he said nothing new at all. Everything was already announced before.

No idea!  Not sure why, who prepped him, or if anyone even looked at the speech.  Did he wing it, or was this the prepared version.  May be the worst Presidential speech in history...in any language!  Even Hegseth's speeches aren't as bad.  Cheers!

You mean the UN might actually do something useful for once??

They do more than just hang around NYC restaurants and order hookers?

They are being forced to act...which is a good thing!  Cheers!

LOL, the hooker on TikTok I posted upthread suggested so. Hookers are rarely wrong in these matters.

Sure but China, Russia and the USA have veto rights on these matters so nothing much will happen.

I’ve heard that Iran’s regime is one of the worst by almost everyone in this group yet the countries now attacking it—primarily the US and Israel—are also being accused of committing war crimes in the ongoing conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces ICC arrest warrants for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to earlier events in Gaza. - he doesn’t have any humanity!

They justified this war in part as a way to liberate the Iranian people from the regime. Yet they are destroying critical infrastructure—such as power plants, desalination facilities for drinking water, hospitals, and schools—that civilians need to survive, causing widespread suffering.

I would love to start hearing from people over here who look past the noise and start to speak out when things are wrong.

Trump does the 'stone age' thing; per the extensive list below, it will be war crime; have to assume that Hegseth had to fire the army chief of staff 'cause he wouldn't play ball. A much bigger problem for Netanyahu, as there is already a 2024 war crimes arrest warrant on him, and the Mossad has a history of extrajudicial prosecution of war criminals.

The best outcome for an Israel, would be if Netanyahu never sees the inside of a Hague court room, and is interred via a state funeral; sooner vs later. Same thing for Orange Boy, should he ever also see an arrest warrant.

That's probably right...Buffett knows the most, Trump knows the least!  🤣  Cheers!

But I found it a bit funny both are in an agreement on something🤣

"Trump also noted that equity markets had not fallen as much as he had expected, saying ’it hasn’t been that bad,’ a comment that was followed by renewed selling pressure in equities."

"QUICK: Well, let’s talk about that. The market has come down substantially.

BUFFETT: Not substantially."

Pete Hegseth has fired over 12 generals collectively. These generals know what is coming and do not agree with the direction of the war criminals that is guiding them.

For context, Iran has a $15B yearly military budget and US/Israel have $1.035T and they are losing. - wow!

Almost all of them served under Biden...so there is obviously a disagreement in objectives and strategy.  That is to be expected if Trump's administration renamed the DOD to Department of War.

Which is correct will be known in hindsight.  I'm sure Trump's team isn't taking the most prudent course...more likely a more aggressive course not thinking through the full ramifications, as most are more goal-oriented than interested in mitigating risk.  Cheers!

Do you support destroying critical infrastructure—such as power plants, desalination facilities for drinking water, hospitals, and schools—that civilians need to survive, causing widespread suffering?  Especially after telling the people we are there to help you. - what a joke!

I am asking on a moral standpoint, what’s your view? It’s pretty clear what is right / wrong but I want to hear your standpoint.

From a moral standpoint, I would want to see an end to the war with no more bombings/attacks.  No further destruction of infrastructure and no more casualties.  A negotiated settlement where Iran gives up all nuclear material and stops funding state-sponsored terrorism.  A regime change is not necessary if they give up all nuclear material, stop bombing neighbors, and allow annual inspections of all military/energy facilities by a UN team supported by US and allied inspectors.

What is your view on this?  This seems fair and moral.  I want to hear your view on the above.  Cheers!

I added a few points to make it fair and moral. Do you now agree?

1. Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity should be handed over to face fair and impartial international trials.

2. If Iran ceases all state-sponsored terrorism and proxy activities in the region, the United States should pass a congressional resolution that similarly ends American funding and support for any Israeli state-sponsored actions, ISiS and al Qaeda that violate international norms. Fairness requires both sides to be held to the same standard.

3. Iran had already agreed to give up all nuclear weapons-related material before the recent conflict. In the interest of equity, Israel should also fully dismantle and surrender its nuclear arsenal, as it is the only country in the region with a declared “Samson Option” and has conducted strikes against Iran and other individuals.

4. Iran has never launched an unprovoked conventional attack on its neighbors. Given Israel’s history of initiating military actions, there should be clear international resolutions mandating collective global response if Israel engages in future acts of aggression.

5. Iran previously accepted and willing to accept international inspections under the nuclear agreement until it was unilaterally torn up by the Trump administration. Iran has consistently stated it seeks only peaceful nuclear energy. Any new agreement must treat both nations including Israel equally on this issue as they refuse any kind of governance / inspections.
6. Iran must retain control over the SoH to ensure their sovereignty is protected
7. US and allies would remove all sanctions against Iran

8.  reparation : compensation for war damages and losses

9.  US withdrawal: closure of US military bases in the region
