So where exactly are they supposed to go back to? They called the police about the fellow but he disappeared before they came and we have no idea what happened to that not so nice fellow (probably nothing). I guess some people really feel emboldened nowadays. I told my son to record these folks on his phone if anything like this happens again (if possible) and post it on TikTok or Instagram. I would guess that shaming working better than the police. Our family heard the “go back to where you came from” within a couple weeks of the election results.

Emissions cap is gone...they are cutting government jobs in a big way...increased defense spending...reducing complexity around the tax code...no huge cuts on social services...no increased capital gains tax...no increase to the marginal tax rates...targeted spending to expand trade and nation building projects...additional spending on transport infrastructure...increased depreciation deductibility for businesses. It was a budget trying to play both sides and that's a tricky proposition...but probably the one that is needed right now. Cheers!

Spekulatius Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 (edited) If people spent $700 instead of $500 on let say a washing machine due to tariffs or domestic business raising prices because they can (less competition from foreign countries enables them to do so) then that extra $200 the consumer does not have any more is not spent on other things. I am not sure that missing $200 is deflationary but it certainly will reduce demand for other food and services because the consumer can spent money only once. So is it a net benefit for the economy if the consume spent $200 more on a washing machine and $200 less on other things? I will guess we will find out. One thing is sure - the economy will adjust. Maybe the washing machine won’t stay $200 more expensive etc… Edited November 5, 2025 by Spekulatius

Republicans still can’t pick a candidate, I mean Sliwa played tough guy refusing to drop out of NYC, only to concede 30 minutes into voting. And the Dems? LMFAO they’re feeling emboldened and are under the impression there’s a major political comeback happening because they won….NY, NJ, and VA……yea Anyway, we’ll continue to pick off all the political refugees and higher end citizens here in JOE Country. Our daughter, who at 28 will be managing editor of Pharmacy Times as of January, and her husband were here in NC (they live in NJ) when a young man in a lifted pickup pulled out in front of them and in the resulting crash they of course lost use of their car. Angela's mother has an extra very expensive auto (her husband recently died) so they of course got that vehicle to drive all around here in Lexington, NC and High Point, NC (where Angela's mom lives). They have been stopped twice here in Davidson County on the roads leading out to our lake house from the small city, both times by the Sheriff's deputies who refer to our daughter's husband as "boy" while using (what our daughter and husband refer to as) 'black talk' when checking the registrations and licenses. No driving infraction, just getting stopped by deputies sitting in public parking areas watching the roads for what they determine as potentially illegal activity. The second stop was a 2 hour ordeal of multiple investigations as to the car ownership. I've driven these roads, as has Angela, for 55 years and not once has a Sheriff deputy found the need to stop us. Same with our son. (Note: I have no biological children but I did raise two relatives from elementary school age, both refer to me as "dad"). Upon asking not one of my extensive family or their children has ever been stopped by a deputy. Our daughter is fair skinned to the point of opaque while her husband is from Kenya and he makes most Americans of all race combinations look white he's so dark skinned. Even in NJ he enjoys telling us of the shock-and-awe he sees in his patients when they come to grips that their surgeon is a 5' 9" 125 lbs midnight black man with a crisp British sounding accent. We badly want them to move to NC so we can be a bigger part of our soon-to-come grandchildren's lives. You can be sure as hell that won't be rural or small town NC, our community just doesn't grasp situations such as theirs. I know here on this thread there are those who surely think of this 'protection' as logical law enforcement behavior, behavior that is our local's best interest. I know precisely what it is, it is simply letting some people know that they are different and not necessarily welcome. Edited November 5, 2025 by dealraker

Gregmal Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 (edited) Yea, I mean anyone ever go to Hawaii? This stuff is just a product of the lower end people in society. I myself, pretty bland individual, was once stopped and had my car impounded in Newark, 50 ft from the parking lot at an NJ Devils game, for a registration that expired a day prior, by a darker skinned female cop who looked at my license and pronounced my name "white boy". I admit, it was probably also Trumps fault given this was 2012 and back then he was a big time Democrat. Edited November 5, 2025 by Gregmal

Castanza Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 Are the intelligent members of COBF really arguing that racism is something new? If you're in the majority group you likely experience less racism (fact). But that does not mean it doesn't exist for the other groups (fact). I reckon that racism will not go away in ~2040 when the new minority ethnic group in the US is Caucasian. If history tells us anything racism will persist and usually the majority group is the one primarily perpetuating. Political violence often follows changes in majority/minority ethnic group changes as seen globally in both modern and less developed nations.

Our "son" was out and about in our all-white all-Trump world here (I say that with humor but we are what's been termed as THE number one hot spot of Trump) just a few years ago (he's a full fledged architect now and doesn't drink at all and actually barely ever did) --- and he had to much to drink and was driving home. He got stopped and apprehended by local deputies (not Highway Patrol) for his odd driving. What happened? They found out who he was, and yes he and I are from the "right" (that's not politics but economic) family and he's part of this extended family. So one deputy drove him home here while the other deputy drove his car here. No charges. THAT's a privileged life would you say? Tough realities for us types. He was thoroughly embarrassed however, he's slightly on the autism spectrum and stuff such as this does send him spiraling in a very intense way. But it is what it is.

He was thoroughly embarrassed however, he's slightly on the autism spectrum and stuff such as this does send him spiraling in a very intense way. But it is what it is. I think and have largely come to the conclusion that there’s shitty people everywhere. Some in clothing we instantly recognize was some in clothing meant to make us feel safe. I have little control over what other people do; the only consistent answer I’ve found is to lean on or flex the advantages we have. These people exist. Period. They may be more emboldened in certain situations, but they always exist. Having grown up not having the wealth or family connection advantages, and having been exposed to experiences that only recently seem to be getting the public’s attention via documentaries and television shows, maybe I’m a little callous to the “lower end” of the adversity experiences, ie name calling or a racist cop impounds my car in shithole Newark….idk…only answer I’ve ever found is to work what you have and play to your strengths. Which is thankfully what I’ve been able to do for my kids and will continue to unapologetically do. I loved NJ and still do. But metaphorically vomitted in my mouth a little going home for a week last month and seeing everyone emboldened enough to disgrace their front yards with political signs. Thankfully I haven’t seen a single one since returning to my little bubble. Edited November 5, 2025 by Gregmal

Trump nearly doubled his support among Black voters between 2020 and 2024: 8% voted for him in 2020 vs. 15% last year. Still, 83% of Black voters backed Harris. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2025/06/26/voting-patterns-in-the-2024-election/ slavery was good - SD 480p.mp4

Never had time for such. That said, I've been caught 'dearly' in racial prejudice some years ago myself, Christ, I'll never forget it, I was so embarrased about how dumb I was then, it's actually a funny story, and in the end I ended up getting a new friend! I'll share it later today in this topic.
