The new Taurus cruise missile with upgraded engine could reach Moscow from the Ukraine. Would be fun to put some on the Kremlin's roof every once in a while. It would serve Putin well to spent his days in bunkers.

Also, Ukraine has terminated several high profile Russian generals in Russia close to Putin with their commando groups. They are getting better at this and if Putin shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time, he could be exterminated too. This may have r may not end the war, but is worth a shot as any sniper would say.

The West Bank is troubled but could still work out in terms of it becoming a peaceful territory next to Israel. Israel should do everything it can to prevent the West bank to become another Gaza but it also depends on what the current administration and population does or if Hamas can also gain a stronger foothold there.

Do you have an answer to your own question. Was there critical fork in the road where Israel took the wrong and lo the subsequent carnage could have been prevented in hindsight (potentially)?

Capturing in West Bank is one fell swoop was part of the problem. Typically if you are eating up territory, incrementally, you can “negotiate” the population to relocate.

When you get the whole thing in one go, it comes with the population within. And suddenly that becomes your responsibility with no recourse.

So Israeli own success became part of the problem. But that is not a decision that was theirs to make. Just a consequence of how rapid and consequential was the 1967 War. So no fork in the road there.

Going forward however, like i said it in the earlier post, any desire to permanently to settle its own people (officially sanctioned or just de facto pushed by the Israeli government) means something has to give. It is a zero sum game. Someone or somebody has to lose.

If one accepts that it is a zero sum game; then one needs to think and treat the losers in this zero sum game as little more than pestering mosquitoes and annoyance than actual unfortunate human beings. Otherwise, how a democracy can justify doing what it is doing and feel good about it.

50-60 years later, the divide is bigger than ever.

Sahil Lavingia — an engineer, tech startup founder and CEO of Gumroad, an e-commerce platform for content creators — wrote in a recent personal blog that he “got the boot” from DOGE without warning the day after Fast Company published an interview in which he spoke about finding less inefficiencies than he expected in the government during his DOGE assignment as senior advisor to the chief of staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“I would say the culture shock is mostly a lot of meetings, not a lot of decisions,” Lavingia told Fast Company in the piece, which also noted that he noticed the number of mission-driven people working in government. “But honestly, it’s kind of fine—because the government works. It’s not as inefficient as I was expecting, to be honest. I was hoping for more easy wins.”

And in the truly hilarious twist of fate, turns out DOGE is pretty much just high priced consultants that are ultimately useless:

Quote

“The reality was setting in: DOGE was more like having McKinsey [management consulting] volunteers embedded in agencies rather than the revolutionary force I'd imagined,” the blog said. “It was Elon (in the White House), Steven Davis (coordinating), and everyone else scattered across agencies.”

The pardon of Milton, who was sentenced to four years in prison for exaggerating the potential of his technology, could wipe out hundreds of millions of dollars in restitution that prosecutors were seeking for defrauded investors.

Milton, 42, and his wife donated more than $1.8 million to a Trump re-election campaign fund less than a month before the November election, according to the Federal Election Commission.

At Milton’s trial, prosecutors say a company video of a prototype truck appearing to be driven down a desert highway was actually a video of a nonfunctioning Nikola that had been rolled down a hill.

There was a lot happening outside of being a fiscal hawk...the salute, the chainsaw, the stays at Maralardo, the hiring of some of the most unqualified people in history, the massive elimination of anything remotely (and I mean remotely) related to DEI, LGTBQ, Biden, Obama, etc...who exactly is the charlatan?  Cheers!

I just watched this last night. The parallels are undeniable to anyone who's not soaked in KoolAid.

Trump better hope that these inflation enumerators are bad at their job lol.

What is your preferred inflation statistic and what is it saying right now?

LOL still looking for inflation?

Gonna laugh when the predicted 5 or 6 print for June/July comes in at half that and folks have to resort to tenths of a percent game again...

Who is predicting 5 or 6% for June/July?  The highest i can find is peaking 3.5-4% during 2025.

This is what they do. They write in sunset clauses to make deficits look smaller on a decade basis, so they're easier to sell.

"President Trump’s tax-and-spending megabill would increase budget deficits by $2.4 trillion over the next decade, compared with doing nothing, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate released Wednesday."

Bullshit.

The bill will add $500 billion to the deficit annually, each year, over the next three.

Just a reminder to peeps who think Trump is some negotiating genius and art of the deal guru : this is the first actual call Trump has had with Xi about trade/tariffs.

Which is funny, considering he claimed to have had tariff-related calls with Xi a couple of months ago and over the space of a couple of weeks.

I mean—what better way to tell your negotiating adversary you’re scared than to fake contact with him to your domestic media/audience.

Hilarious.
