Pretty sure that OpenAI's board is going to be voted out next year after this debacle. Some of the top guys are leaving to join Altman and it looks like he's already got a plan. Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/openai-co-founder-altman-planning-203536682.html

  3. She's arguably the greatest British actress of all time in my opinion...and there's a lot of them to choose from. Maybe Winslet will replace her when she's done, but for now she makes it always look so easy like Meryl Streep. Also seems like an amazingly easy going person. Cheers!
  4. Was a terrific movie! Benicio is one of the best actors of his generation. Still can't believe how he stole every scene as the honest Mexican cop in Traffic, and his best role ever was the assassin ex-lawyer in Sicario. Cheers!
  5. Thought it was excellent! Fassbender would have been great as James Bond. The man can do anything. Cheers!
  6. Gary's been at our dinner in Toronto a couple of times and he's a very nice guy and good analyst. But like many bears after 2008/2009, they've been wrong for a long-time. I think he's going to be right sometime next year...but not for at least another 4-5 months as the economy seems to be still powering through and consumers keep fighting inflationary pressures. Big, big news...Altman fired...not sure what he did exactly or what they were upset about, but we'll probably find out eventually. Google or Meta should hire him! Cheers! https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/17/tech/sam-altman-departs-open-ai/index.html
  8. https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/short-seller-jim-chanos-close-hedge-funds-wsj-2023-11-17/ Bye, bye Uncle Jim! That's what the hooker staying at his house used to call him https://nypost.com/2008/03/16/eliots-gal-a-shared-asset/ Most of those shitheads got their comeuppance...a couple of them left like Cohen and Loeb. Cheers!

  11. It went from criticisms to some downright nasty things...the thread had to go. Please keep things to critiques on this thread. Cheers!
  12. Actually one of his most under-rated roles was Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" where he played King Baldwin and he had a mask on for the entire movie because of leprosy. When I first saw it, I didn't realize it was him until the credits! Great movie! Also does a great job showing why the Middle East conflicts will never end. Cheers!
  13. Had no idea that actor Edward Norton was this involved in the digital media game. Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/edward-norton-on-future-of-streaming-ads-will-double-netflixs-market-cap-120033221.html
  14. John Malone believes Buffett is expecting opportunities due to massive cash pile. Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/warren-buffett-sitting-monstrous-pile-193107202.html
  15. It was a fantastic movie, but went completely off the rails in the final 5 minutes. Christoph Waltz, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Di Caprio and Samuel L. Jackson all had Oscar worthy performances. Just Tarantino went all nuts in the final 5 minutes. Sometimes it works like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and sometimes its a mess like Inglorious Bastards! Cheers!
  16. Mohnish is a very good friend. I'm sure retail investors for years have been clamoring to find a way to invest with him, and this is probably the solution for those that aren't accredited and/or can't get a slot in any of the original Pabrai Funds. Good for those investors and good for Mohnish. That being said, for most investors, they would be better off just buying a cheap S&P500TR index and averaging in money each year. Buying into Pabrai Wagon Fund or the Chou Funds or McElvaine Trust...all really good friends of mine...for non-accredited investors, it is the only way to get access to those managers. But mutual funds with high expense ratios generally won't outperform the market index over the long-term. At the very least, if you are insistent on access to these managers, maybe hedge the bet and put half your money into them and half into an index fund. Cheers!
  17. It won't be like 80% of the population...many will either transition to other new opportunities or participate in entrepreneurial/social endeavors. But I would imagine 40-50% of current task/repetitive occupations would become obsolete for humans. We've lost occupations before...and new occupations replaced them in a new economy. The same happens after each revolution in technology. But advanced robotics and AI will create far more upheaval in how the new economy will operate. Cheers!
  18. I think AI and robotics will almost certainly lead to the end of many jobs...but at the same time lead to increased margins and profitability in many industries normally operating with lower margins. That would mean that society would have to create a guaranteed income for people. AI and robotics will also be a savior for those countries facing unfortunate demographics and limited immigration...especially since the global population is expected to begin a decline at the end of this century. AI and robotics will also speed up our exploration of space, and the colonization of other planets. Cheers!
  19. +1! Totally agree with this. I think some people may remain cautious because this was the setup in 2008/2009 and because of the short positions, those investment gains never totally materialized because they were offset by the short positions. Hopefully Prem and the old Hamblin Watsa team have learned from those mistakes, and the new blood (Wade and Lawrence) are a bit more active in finding investment targets when opportunity appears rather than playing a macro game. Personally, I think they have...but others may still be a bit cautious...including some analysts. Cheers!

  21. Yeah, go to "Investment Ideas", click Search by "Title"...all of the Investment Ideas will come up in alphabetical order with numerical tickers first. It makes it easy to find any single ticker/company. You have a title like the Budapest title and you'll never find any ticker/company. Cheers!
