  1. Weather wasn't very good, but the cruise was wonderful. Last day today...Paris port in Le Havre cancelled because of a general strike (what else is new)! Favorite city so far...Edinburgh...could easily live there! Then Cork...great little city...was added last minute as a replacement for Paris. What a gem! Dublin was very nice...big, modern city. Left Belfast a wee bit sad...still the tensions exist...city feels like it is still struggling to escape that legacy. Will spend the next six days in London. Unfortunately, my schedule is in a state of flux for the 17th, as I have family coming in to the city for a couple of days to see us from Essex. Might not be able to meet. Cheers!
  2. Yeah, sorry! Should have said "9 zero" club or "3 comma" club. Cheers!
  3. We talk a lot about Berkshire and Fairfax, but Wintaai is just killing it! I spoke to Francis today, and all I can say is that Wintaai investors are going to be happy over the next couple of years! Many years ago before the two T's, Buffett & Munger said the type of investment manager they would like to hire was someone like Peter Cundill...a Canadian/British legend. In my opinion, Francis is very much like Peter Cundill. It won't be long before Francis joins the 9 commas club! Couldn't happen to a nicer person! Cheers!
  4. 7-10 years from now. Cheers!
  5. Marlin was pretty much like that in real life too! He posted more when they had their AOL BRK Board...long, long time ago in a galaxy far away! Andy is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Cheers!
  6. Happy to sell you all my FFH at $3,300 CDN per share today if you want! Cheers!

This is no different than other countries. There are terrorist groups in the United States and India, both domestic and foreign. The United States is inundated with Mexican drug cartels, their money, influence and carnage. India has a diaspora of terrorist groups from Tamil, Khalistani, Pakistani, etc living in India. Canada doesn't allow terrorists here anymore than any other country. They come in under normal immigration/refugee rules like everyone else in this country and every other country. Many circumvent the system using forged documents, etc and then send money back to their country to support their activities. If you think it is any different in any other country, then explain how 9/11 happened? Cheers!

Well, that's the last we've probably heard of him! Yikes! Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/evergrande-suspends-trading-hong-kong-010311150.html
  10. Marlin was a Yellow BRK'er...was a BRK shareholder going back to at least the very early 1990's if not earlier. Putting "Of Permanent Value" together is a lot of work for Andy. He then began self-publishing a long time ago. The two together make for a heavy burden...especially when Berkshire keeps growing, changing and adding more businesses! Cheers!

Canada would never reject a legitimate Interpol notice. Where there is evidence, Canada always accommodates extradition agreements with countries it partners with unless capital punishment is involved. Regarding the Air India bombing, it was the RCMP who effed up the investigation in such a way that the accused got away with it. Nothing to do with Trudeau's father. I'm not saying Nijjar wasn't guilty of something...but there was obviously not enough evidence to extradite him or capital punishment was involved. Nijjar had no criminal record in Canada. Cheers!
  12. 100% agree! A couple of eggs in the morning, and it satiates my appetite. My blood sugar is more balanced than if I just ate oatmeal, cereal or toast. My brain function is better. I don't eat again until hours later. It's all the other shit we eat that compounds any cholesterol/blood pressure issues. The sugars, starches, etc. Cheers!

Totally agree with this! A lot of irregular state-sanctioned behavior occurring in a sovereign nation's jurisdiction...there has to be a response or investigation. How he handled it is debatable, but something had to be done as well. Cheers!

This actually happened not far from where I live. I actually go to the Krispy Kreme (only one in BC) that faces the temple where Nijjar was shot. Nijjar was warned by CSIS and RCMP that his life was at risk from potential threats...he was even asking if he should wear a bullet-proof vest. Unlike the head of Khalsa Credit Union and Khalsa Schools who was killed a couple of years ago, Nijjar had no links to criminal activity. The two young assassins have still not been located. There were a number of warnings to Nijjar and the Sikh community here in Vancouver that India was targeting certain individuals. It will come out! There is a very high probability that this was state-sanctioned not dissimilar to Jamal Khashoggi. Trudeau did not handle this appropriately. It should have run through security channels between India and Canada, not in the open like Trudeau made it. This creates two problems and a shitload of tension: First, Sikhs were already distrusting of the Indian government. Second, like back in the 80's after the Golden Temple raid by Indira Gandhi, you may see significant terrorist activity in India and abroad. This was neither a smart move by Trudeau, nor India if they did this! And it certainly looks like India had a hand in it. How deep it goes...did Modi know? Was this a rogue hit by India's security personnel? That will all come out over time. I think Modi is overreacting by suspending visas. It will just hurt business and business owners. While he's done many good things on a socio-economic front, his nationalistic tendencies are alienating minority groups in India and their diaspora around the world. Cheers!
  17. It's why investors should keep a certain portion in cash so that they aren't forced into drawdowns when a stock or the markets are down. It also allows them to buy more stock if that liquidity isn't required when a stock or markets are cheap. Having some cash provides flexibility that negates the risk of inflation on that cash. Cheers!
  18. What do you do with all those eggs? Do you freeze them...doesn't that change the texture? Generally, the best before is about a month out. Cheers!
  19. Congratulations to you and your daughter! Chase that dream...amazing things will happen. Cheers!
  20. Hi Petec, I'm on a cruise around England, Scotland and Ireland from October 3rd to 13th, but will be in London at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge from October 14th to 18th. If anyone wants to meet up at the Park Plaza or nearby, let me know. We can arrange a little informal gathering. Cheers! Sanjeev
