  1. Some people have too much time on their hands
  2. https://twitter.com/BNONews/status/1565241174226501637
  3. Headed to Doha and Bali, with maybe a stop in Kuala Lumpur. Apparently nobody wants to go to Doha in the middle of summer, lol.
  4. That's assuming they hadn't already done that since they haven't had to make a payment for two years. It will be interesting if this moral hazard causes more not to pay their student loans at all, just waiting for the next debt jubilee to take the debt down again.
  5. Yes but the meme stock crowd will get washed out soon enough. I'd argue with some market fundamentals starting to tip over the bulldozer is quickly catching up to the penny picker-uppers. In 20 years we'll look at r/wallstreetbets as the modern day equivalent of the 1920s bucket shop. Until then it's just a waiting game. Enjoy the circus.
  6. What's your plan when the stock drops 30% and the only reason you own it is because X, Y, and Z own it? What if they're all selling out but you won't know until the next 13F comes out in 3 months?
  7. Save the maximum allowable in a tax-efficient manner. Repeat. Live well below your means. Repeat.
  8. Nancy just looking for her next big stock trade
  9. Has there ever been a recession that hasn't been forecasted as 'mild and shallow'? Almost sounds like the line that any inflation will be 'transitory'.....
  10. Oh didn't know there was a form: Where do you have vacation homes? None. Where are your repeat vacation spots? Don't very often repeat places. Place I still enjoy going to no matter how many times I've been there: Japan, London, Madrid, Hong Kong (maybe not now?), Vietnam, and New Zealand. What are must see places? (North America vs Internationally) It's all relative to what interest you have. There's places that have incredible art museums, but if you don't care about art then it's not really of value to you. I think we privileged first world citizens should really spend time in third world countries. It's eye opening in so many different ways. I'm also a student of history so I think you can't help but be moved, challenged , and do some serious soul searching visiting recent history sites, for me it is World War 2 sites. Places like Hiroshima, Pearl Harbor, Normandy, Dachau, and Auschwitz are those for me. It's also actually been very enlightening being in the Baltics right now. There's Ukrainian flags everywhere. People are very proud of their support for Ukraine. It isn't something in the news that gets put in the 'C' block of the nightly news like it is back at home. What is your next adventure? Currently on a tour of Scandinavia, the Baltics, and Finland. Looking at heading to Bali for a month or two after this.
  11. Currently on a bus halfway between Tallinn and Riga.
  12. Yeah could have just word clouded his memo quotes and got the same result. I didn't even finish it.
  13. Yeah you might not get as many bites giving full disclosure but you will certainly piss people off if you join then immediately go on paternity leave. But if you do go that route the banks give some of the most generous parent leaves. My team hired a lady and within a couple of months announced that she was pregnant, went on maternity leave for 26 weeks, came back for like a month, and put in her two week notice. So she "worked" for less than 12 months. Guess a good gig if you can swing it.
  14. It's A BIG Club & You Ain't In It!
  15. Good read, the author got quite a bit of access it seems like, maybe more than you would except from a sitting fed chairman. Hopefully there's a part 2 in 5-10 years time as we see what the fallout is from their actions
  16. And here’s my contribution posting from the beach.
  17. Yep, I see people showing off their new bottles of Weller 12 and Old Antique like come on that isn't impressive. Kind of like you, I was a big bourbon fan back in the day. Don't really drink too much any more, Old Grand Dad 114 seems to have not made the pappy fantastic list yet so that's my go-to if imbibing. The BTAC and Four Roses Limited Editions (primarily 2012s) have went up in value so much from when I bought them that I will never bring myself to ever drink them. It's the best investment, unwittingly, I've ever made.
  18. i feel like an AI chatbot could just come out with new memos every 6 weeks sourcing previous memos and WSJ headlines and nobody would know the difference
  19. We're not even midway through the year.
  20. ok?
  21. Exactly this.
  22. Ha that's true. My 90 year old grandparents just sold the house they had been living in for 60 years and were trying to figure out what to do with the money, somehow it came up that i-bonds would make a good investment and they asked me what I thought. Someone will be having to set up the treasurydirect account for them for sure. Like I mentioned in the other thread, i'm just treating this just as a savings/1 yr CD account. But that's a good point if the coupons start going up. I wonder what happens if/when the inflation index linked to i-bonds start to decrease and quit being such a great deal will people realize it or think they'll just keep earning the 9% interest rate in perpetuity. Kind of has a twinge of Buffet's: "What the wise man does in the beginning, the fool does in the end" to it.
  23. I've got the equivalent of shoe shine boys talking me up about I-Bonds fwiw.
  24. thanks for the article, product tanker rates have also skyrocketed since the russian oil embargo.
