  1. A thirty-something, single women was walking on the beach with her dog. She was thinking about how she had not been successful in romance when she came upon a bottle lying on the sand. She opened it and a genie popped out and said "I will grant you one wish, anything you want." She asked to have her dog transformed into a handsome man who would love her. She raced home with her new man. They went into the bedroom and she took off her clothes. The man then said, “I bet you now wish you had never gotten me fixed!”
  2. I can second that, a good read. I did not like his next book, Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow, any where near as much.
  3. I highly recommend https://www.amazon.com/Surely-Youre-Joking-Mr-Feynman-ebook/dp/B003V1WXKU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526430443&sr=8-1&keywords=richard+feynman+books and https://www.amazon.com/What-Care-Other-People-Think-ebook/dp/B004OA6KIS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1526430443&sr=8-4&keywords=richard+feynman+books
  4. The new 1/4 pounders are pretty good. But I agree with you about the egg McMuffin and the coffee. I usually make my coffee at home, but in a pinch I like McDonalds coffee better than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks and it's cheaper too. And the Egg McMuffin and Sausage McMuffin w/ egg are far and away better than any gross microwaved egg sandwich you can get at Dunkin Donuts. Maybe McDonalds has never had a great burger, but they have always had a good burger. I just wish they'd go back to using tallow for their fries, because they used to have great fries. I use the McCafe coffee at home. I find it better than Starbucks and I can sometimes find the 12 oz bag on sale for $4.99, and then I buy 10 bags.
  5. The Chernow books I have read have been great, Alexander Hamilton and the House of Morgan. In both books Chernow discovered, or obtained access, to material no one perviously had. I have all of Chernow's other books and will be reading them soon. Also Feynman's books, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman and What do You Care What Other People Think are somewhat autobiographical and superb reads.
  6. It has been a while since I read it. It was great; I need to read it again. Maybe I will get the Kindle version this time so it is easy to generate notes.
  7. Wrote BK 54-strike, 4/20 expiration for $0.35 per share
  8. Lots of coffee.
  9. You'll equally enjoy, What Do You Care what other people think. https://www.amazon.com/What-Care-Other-People-Think-ebook/dp/B004OA6KIS/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1523204039&sr=1-1&keywords=what+do+you+care+what+other+people+think
  10. US test of EMP in 1962. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish_Prime Starfish Prime caused an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which was far larger than expected, so much larger that it drove much of the instrumentation off scale, causing great difficulty in getting accurate measurements. The Starfish Prime electromagnetic pulse also made those effects known to the public by causing electrical damage in Hawaii, about 1,445 kilometres (898 mi) away from the detonation point, knocking out about 300 streetlights,[6] setting off numerous burglar alarms and damaging a telephone company microwave link.[7] The EMP damage to the microwave link shut down telephone calls from Kauai to the other Hawaiian islands
  11. I was trying to buy the stock today but it went up too fast!! I tried to write some 50-strike April 6 expiration puts but missed on those because the price went up too fast and my limit order did not execute.
  12. And I was the one selling!
  13. John, There could be but I am not seeing it? I did mean BK, Bank of NY Mellon. Mike
  14. Wrote some BK $49.5-strike April 13 expiration puts for $0.75 per share.
  15. Kindle version for $2.99 at AMZN today https://www.amazon.com/Warren-Buffetts-Ground-Rules-Partnership-ebook/dp/B013CC91JS?_bbid=9601255&tag=bookbubblog-20
  16. Again I wrote March 16, 165-strike puts on AMGN for $2.05 per share. I have been continually writing puts with strike prices of $165-175 on AMGN since March 2017. Again on Thursday I wrote April 6 expiration, 170-strike puts.
  17. As globalfinancepartners has pointed out my strategy is less risky than yours. If I get put to I end up paying less for my BRKB than you just did. Think of it as selling insurance with a claim not being a bad thing; essentially you are getting your position at a lower price. I use put writing to enter all my long term hold position. It is like a limit order that pays me while I wait for a better price. The negative is that you might not get your position, but this has rarely happened for me. When we were coming out of the financial crisis I was fully invested. I still wrote a lot of puts and rarely was put to. And when I was I sold a covered call and was usually quickly off of margin. So it was kind of like being on margin, but never owing any interest.
  18. It’s a good idea, but given u would have to pay short term capital gain taxes in theses trades (IRA doesn’t allow this), probably not worth it. I will happily pay taxes if I am getting a 1% gain on such a short time frame. If I am put to I pay no taxes till I sell the position because the put premium comes off the basis.
  19. I suspect most, probably all, brokers would allow cash secured put trades in an IRA since it is an equivalent strategy to selling covered calls. Although I have an IB account, my IRA is with Schwab and I do cash secured put trades in this IRA.
  20. I've written some more 190-strike puts.
  21. How does that work? Does the author get any say? Does that mean you receive nothing for each free purchase? Correct. Over the course of the weekend, we won't profit from Kindle sales. It's purely a gift from us. I had already purchased your book. But I'll say thanks for those who acquire it this weekend and just say this is generous of you!

  23. In addition you hear about a player whose basketball IQ makes them a better performer than a more athletically gifted player. Like Wayne Gretzky knowing where the puck was going to be.
  24. I just recently discovered the StarTalk series, a few weeks ago, and have watched all the current season episodes including the Stephen Hawking one. It is on the National Geographic channel for those interested.
  25. I had not heard that first one; it is now one of my favorites too!
