Movies and TV shows (general recommendation thread)
boilermaker75 replied to Liberty's topic in General Discussion
I've really gotten into the British mysteries, Endeavor, Inspector Lewis, Shetland, and Foyle's War. Acting is superb, probably all Shakespearean trained actors. -
It was a brutal non-call but man, some of that Saints play calling at the end was killing me. Seems like we could have at least forced them to use their final time out while we still had the ball towards the end of regular play - instead a bunch of incomplete passes. And what the hell was Michael Thomas looking at when they the Rams got the interception on their ass on the ground. Thomas didn't seem aware of the ball at all. Sad end to the season, and a rough no flag - but c'mon Saints..! Run the ball up the middle three times and kick the field goal. Probably would have put the probability of the Saints winning at that point at 99%.

I have ever seen. Blatant pass interference at the 2 yard line that would have resulted in the Saints winning this game. Graux Saints in overtime!

Sad news, I loved his book Common Sense on Mutual Funds, RIP.

Are you a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. investor?
boilermaker75 replied to John Hjorth's topic in Berkshire Hathaway
John, Yes, it better go well for us! Owning BRKB is like owning stock in 75 different companies. We are well diversified by owning BRKB. Better yet, BRKB will do better in any downturn than any set of 75 companies. And you only need 15 to get rid of most of the unsystematic risk. -Mike PS Yes I know with it all under one umbrella there is a risk. But at least while Buffett is still around I am not worried about that risk. -

I agree, I rather see share buybacks than a dividend as long as the buybacks are below IV. -

John, What a great idea for a poll! I am really top heavy, 70%, compared to everyone else. The majority of the rest of my portfolio is BK, WFC, and BAC. With Warren and Charlie gone, BRKB is still going to be generating great cash flow. I am not worried. Paying a large dividend, selling off parts, etc. will just increase the value--at least short term. Mike -
Very nice option premium.

So true. Listening to British people is even worse. I was watching the British series "Bodyguard" on Netflix and it drove me crazy. The main character's superior is a woman and he constantly called her Ma'am, but all I heard was "Yes Mom", "No Mom", "Thank you Mom", "Right away Mom", etc. It was just so weird hearing him constantly call her Mom. Same if you watch Inspector Lewis. -
There are now almost 7,000 microbreweries in the US https://www.brewbound.com/news/7000-breweries-operate-u-s-2018 accounting for about 12% of beer sales and growing by double digits. Is Molson Coords Brewing really trading at 6x FCF? I’m not familiar with the company, but what about this trend? Wrote WFC 48.5-strike Dec 14 expiration puts for $0.95 per share this morning. I am tapped out. If put to on everything I will be fully invested. Actually a few thousand on margin.

The Saints are back in control of home-field advantage for the playoffs! Geaux Saints!

I've been put to on several positions the last couple of expirations. Some I am keeping, positions I wanted to add to. Some I have turned around and sold covered calls on. If these are positions you wanted to add to, these could be good prices. If not, you could get some pretty good call premiums. For instance the Dec 14, 170-strike AAPL calls are going for $3 per share. The Dec 14, 50.50 strike WFC calls are going for $0.83 per share.

Copied your trade but got filled at 1.80. Trying again at 2.15... Incidentally, CA wildfire claims looking like $20billion for the industry this quarter Just heard from my daughter. Now they have pouring rain, which will probably result in more losses caused by mud slides. If you remember Dan from the BMY board, he lives in Malibu. He is fine. They had power out for a couple of days, no mail or internet for 9 days, problematic road closures — all small stuff in context.
