There is one country that has threatened to take over Canada.

And coincidentally, that is the very same country that is pressuring Canada to purchase more weapons from .... The United States of America.

Except Canada refuses to spend any money on their military and NATO.  That's why Canada is in this pickle.  Damn that's embarrassing.

What pickle?  Canada seems to be doing just fine. Taco trade.

Canada is doing wonderful. Just don't count on them to honor their commitments and

pull their weight in NATO!

You may hate the USA, but what did NATO do to deserve this?

Embarrassing.

What you don't seem to realize is that unlike some countries, Canada has very few, if any enemies around the world looking to invade and take over the Country.

Oh, wait!

There is one country that has threatened to take over Canada.

You seriously think that neither Russia nor China is interested in Canada?  Both would gladly take it over in a heartbeat.

Really? REALLY? You gotta be kidding. You are talking about countries not living up to agreements? And this is coming from a staunch Trump supporter? Hilarious!

How many agreements signed by the United States has Trump ripped up?? Some he even signed himself.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Furthermore. Like most Canadians I certainly have no animosity towards the people of the USA in fact, most Canadians have a great affinity for our American neighbours. We just have no time for the asshole and his gang of thugs presently 'running' the country, who have not only constantly insult our country, but publicly state their intention to take over our country.

How would you feel?

Think you forgot one other country. Actually only one country has threatened to take over Canada.

Nice dodge. Few things are more important to the safety of allies than military agreements and alliances. Clearly alliances are extremely critical with the likes of Iran, China & Russia around.

Why does Canada persist in scamming their best allies if you have no antimosity to the US or Nato??

Canada was doing this long before Trump ever entered the political scene.

Simple question.

"Nice dodge."

Cubs really.  You have a lot of nerve complaining about Canada not living up to one single agreement. You are the one dodging the fact that Trump has been ripping up agreements since he first came to power nearly a decade ago . Don't you think many of us here are well aware of your attempts to shift the focus away from your hero's shifty behaviour?

Also, I could explain some of the problems of defending and running a country the same size as yours, but with only 1/10th the the population of the United States. Furthermore given my personal military experience, I am all for spending more on defense and always have been. However. Trump's tariff policies are putting a serious crimp in Canada's budget until we get this tariff crap straightened out. You must agree that these tariffs are not conducive to Canada buying more military equipment from the U.S. But as long as Trump can't make up his mind about who he is going to tariff, what he is going to tariff, how much tariffs will be, etc, etc, etc - I mean they change daily - don't expect to see much more action on Canada's military budget any time soon.

But now that we are rid of the idiot who was running our country, expect changes.

That's pretty lame, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Obviously your embarrassed about Canada being the deadbeats of NATO - good for you.

US court blocks Trump's 'Liberation Day' tariffs

A U.S. federal court on Wednesday blocked President Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs from going into effect, ruling that the president overstepped his authority by imposing across-the-board duties on imports from nations that sell more to the United States than they buy.

So will they need to pay back all the tariffs collected from importers?

A big thanks to Congress for granting POTUS much broader authority in the tariff issue.

The Trade Act of 1974 granted the president new authority to negotiate trade agreements and adjust tariffs, while also creating mechanisms to protect U.S. industries and workers. For example, Section 201 provides a mechanism for the U.S. to protect domestic industries from serious injury caused by import surges, and Section 301 grants authority to the U.S. Trade Representative (a cabinet-level position that leads an executive branch agency that is responsible for developing U.S. foreign trade policy) to take action against foreign countries that violate trade agreements or engage in practices that are deemed unfair and negatively affect U.S. commerce.

Alongside trade acts, Congress grants authority to the executive branch to address “unusual and extraordinary” peacetime threats to national security, foreign policy, or the economy under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) of 1977.

Seems the courts have disagreed with this assessment

You better keep your fingers crossed, hope & pray. The Trump offense is pretty damn unstoppable.

And the country is behind him - as the Democratic machine self destructs.

It's a sight to behold.

Was waiting for this to happen. The "emergency" to implement the tariffs and bypass congress was blatantly unconstitutional. Let's see how this goes on appeal. Can't count on this corrupt supreme court to do the right thing.

Truly kool-aid worthy. The Trump offense has been stopped by just about every court in the land almost every single time. And the country is not behind him. Watch the market reaction.

I'm sure he will sell a few more pardons and move on to the next thing.

Why isn't the US honoring the military commitment we made in 1994 to Ukraine, in exchange for their nuclear disarmament?

Other than sealing down the southern border, what has he accomplished in this term so far?  Half the ideas that were on his mandate, either he backed down or the courts had him back down.  Even Harvard is willing to go to war with him...Putin isn't listening...Bibi is doing what he wants...Elon left...big spending bill is spending, but not paying down the deficit or debt...gender war is sort of at a stalemate...half the people he fired were rehired...etc.

The only thing the Trump offense is killing it at is making a shit load of money for the Trump empire!  And it's certainly a sight to behold, while we all pinch our nose at the stench!  Cheers!

Bbbbbbut what about the folks in cash during such uncertain times! Not fair!

You can argue that two ways:

One, there are those that are perma-bears and hold cash regardless of opportunities.  That's not me.

Two, there are those that hold significant amounts of cash when they can't find great ideas, but pour it into the markets gleefully when they do appear.  That's me.

Cheers!

Canada has agreed to increase their spending...long-term target for Carney is 3% of GDP.  They will also put money into the "Gold Dome" missile shield.

Canada had 88 F-35's on order, but suspended them as soon as Trump went off his rocker and started throwing tariffs around like farts.  I expect once things go back to normal, the order will be unsuspended.

They are also ordering a bunch of subs, missile batteries, and increasing the Canadian infantry by 20%.  That still will barely hit 2%, so Canada will be spending hundreds of billion more buying U.S. and European military equipment.  But probably not until Trump changes his attitude!  Cheers!

I would add that TACO-man is also succeeding in corralling the base, surely his best skill.   This is particularly evidenced here when we are in a market up cycle, the nature and number of posts gets super-charged.

Nah I know your game and you’re an outlier. A true type 2. 90% of people are type one and 90% whom are type one think they’re type two. And they repeatedly get curbstomped during these “episodes”. So much confidence during the first week or two in April and then the after the fact gloats about making a few % on “the dip” and now being back to fully cashed up because of the obviousness of the impending doom….nope. Sorry suckers.
