Remember that very secret meeting between Trump and Putin? Remember his love affair with Kim Jong Un and the president of China. One does have to wonder what the real agenda is.

LOL

You’re missing my point which is that 1) Cañada doesn’t produce fentanyl 2) there’s very little control of the border and 3) this is Chinese fentanyl.

Read my other posts instead of cherry picking my comments. Mexico makes and transports more drugs into the USA than Canada. No shit.

Yup

Fentanyl raw materials goes from China to labs in Mexico & Canada - then is trafficked into USA.

Pretty simple stuff really.

This is exactly the kind of media manufactured nonsense people bought into hook, line and sinker during Trumps first term, and it’s exactly what got him elected again. Eventually enough people wisened up and realized they were being taken for suckers. That said, there’s still clearly a decent chunk of folks whom believe all this stuff, so all we can do is be amused by it.

Could this be a possibility, or should I put away the aluminum foil?😅

Trump has said that he wants lower interest rates, correct?

Maybe he’s aware that tariffs could potentially slow the economy which may force the FED to react by lowering rates?

Two birds with one stone. Or one bird and one pajaro?

You push people far enough on taxes and tariffs, you may get outcomes you don't want.  Already, you have many countries rethinking their trade alliances and why they made concessions for the U.S. as their first and preferential client for trade.

That is exactly the point.

Mexico has pushed the USA far enough already. It stops now.

Same with El Salvador, Columbia, Venezuela.  The President has declared the Mexican cartels a terrorist organization. How would Canada like a border with Mexico?  I doubt you would.

Lucky for you, Canada has a buffer in between - called the USA.

With friends like that - who needs enemies.

Huh??

\ You just proved my case. During the Obama/Trump years, the border was locked down.

Your graph shows 2021, 2022, 2023 - illegal crossings were off the charts!

That's what I've been saying all along.

Thank you @LC

I think our points have gone sailing past each others, like american oligopolists on their yachts in the night...but, regardless, you're welcome 😄

Remember, the solution we heard, was to bring in an 80 year old career politician with dementia who picks fights with our enemies, provokes and enables wars, and hob nobs on the taxpayers dime with our “allies”. Yup, so this is why we don’t even acknowledge certain MSM voices or naive followers anymore. They blew their credibility, they’re done. We don’t care what they have to say anymore.

Now bring on the tax cuts!

10% tarriff on Canadian oil.

and we have OXY at a 52 week low.

time to buy?!

Canadian oil are heavy crude which US doesnt produce. Shale produce light crude, which has to be mixed with heavy crude by refiners.

maybe bad for oxy too.

While the upcoming price increase on Crown Royale is tragic, Scottish tariffs would be the real knife twist 😄

Nobody wants Canadian whiskey. The real tragedy is south of the border with tequila!

Seems like that could backfire since doesn’t Canada import a fair amount of its food from the US?

For sure--it's pretty obvious that everyone loses from trade wars.

Pity that we're in a trade war where everyone has to lose.

Ah.

I always thought that the heavy crude had to be diluted down but that the light stuff can go on its own.

So shale oil on its own is worthless for most fuels?

Oh no.

Are you going to be any less responsible with regard to border security and mutual defense?

We have to replace a large portion of our $450B in trade with the U.S. with other countries.  Who are the largest consumers in the world right now outside of the U.S. and need Canadian resources and food?  Do you think that's going to increase border security with the U.S.?

Cheers!

I don't post often, but since our one time ally the USA has declared economic war on Canada.

We cancelled our trip to Orlando and just dumped our tickets to a show on Broadway, which was in May.

Watching a hockey game tonight, first time I have ever witnessed a Canadian crowd boo the American anthem.

https://nypost.com/2025/02/01/sports/canadian-nhl-fans-boo-the-star-spangled-banner-after-trumps-tariffs-become-official/

Since Canada has been asked for a divorce...I hope we get the summer house.

Interesting times.

Not worthless. My knowledge is limited. I think refiners in US are mostly setup to process the mix of two, and switching to light only is like re-tuning a factory — slow and expensive works

Not there isn't some Fentanyl coming from Canada, but it is minimal compared to the total sum entering the U.S.  Most of it is coming from Mexico, or manufactured directly in the U.S. with smuggled in raw materials from China and Mexico.  Here are two reports...one from U.S. Customs & Border Patrol and one from the DEA...nary a mention of Canada!  In actuality, there is more Fentanyl getting into Canada via the U.S., then there is going the other way...as well as your fucking guns.  But hey this all fake news isn't it?  Cheers!

Present estimates are that it will take about 10 days for Windsor and Detroit to shut down. Probably a lot shorter for the US/Mexican plants. Canadian unemployment for Feb is expected to jump by 250K in Ontario alone; at 10x the size of Canada, US losses will be approaching 2.5M. Higher still as Trump reacts to getting punched.

So what the hell does that have to do with Canada and punitive tariffs?  If you've got a problem with Mexico, fuck up Mexico.  Why make threats to Denmark and Greenland or issue punitive tariffs on Canada?

If your son is misbehaving, are you gonna shit-kick your two other daughters because of his behavior?  Cheers!
