The only bullet point you forgot -

-- Total destruction of the Democratic Party

Much of the credit goes to the truly infantile behavior of the New Democratic Party, not Trump.

So embarrassing and foul-mouthed - that normal people are fleeing in droves.

They are like heroin addicts, that know they are killing themselves, but just can't stop.

That's going to keep Trump around a long time - they are a gift to the Republicans.

lol have to agree with you on this Mike!

At least in regards to Canada...within days the Prime minister announced a billion dollars to secure the border and deal with the drug problem.

I don't like Trump's tactics...but they got the outcome he wanted fairly quickly.

Drug problem at the border? Do you cross the Canadian/US border often? When you go into one country from the other, it is the country you are entering that has the responsibility to check that contraband is not entering their country. When you leave say, the US to enter Canada, you clear through Canadian customs. You just drive past the US customs checkpoint with out even stopping. When you go from Canada to the US, you don't even stop at Canadian customs. Is not the US responsible for their own borders?

Look at the guns and drugs that come into Canada from the US. Whose fault is that?

So much for the off the charts popularity of the Ukrainian President.

Martial law, kidnapping at gunpoint, etc

Wait until it happens in Europe. We will find out how many of their boys want to die in Ukraine.

I mean if you think a couple draft dodgers getting rounded up into vans in Ukraine is indicative of an impending European mandated draft then I have a bridge to sell you. Seems like a pretty far leap to make.

This is the correct take and can't say I disagree with you.

It’s funny how invested some of you guys seem to be in writing the narrative in such short order. Meanwhile you guys had all sorts of patience and no criticism the previous four years on which many of those issues were also on display. I don’t recall any of you folks so adamantly complaining about no peace in Ukraine or Gaza, nor did I recall any concerns about government waste lol Weird

I'm not criticizing...I'm pointing out how this term seems to be starting out like his last term...chaos, lack of hitting his targets (dates he set, not me), and experiencing everything that he accused Obama and then Biden for...poor economy, inflation, unemployment, bad stock market, Obamacare, debt, deficits and dead deals!

All of that so-called bullshit that Obama and Biden voters bought, is the shame shit Trump shovels...just a different subset of people swallowing it!  Cheers!

Yeh Putin doesn’t, but instead you post pictures of people being drafted in Ukraine, not the Russian men used as cannon fodder.

Yeh the draft sucks but Western countries have had the draft many times.

Nobody in Europe wants to fight, Ukraine aren’t asking for Europeans to fight (yet), they are asking for military aid.

If the Europeans providing military aid is barking, then the Americans providing no aid is what animal sound?

+1!  Cheers!

Yeah, I'm not particularly upset over that...most of them had to go!  But your argument is like being in prison and having to choose between which two penis' do you want to be penetrated with...frankly, neither!

But I see you've chosen one!  🤣  Cheers!

Again , progressive policy is only part of the Democrats issue…. If Biden had kept his word about being a 1  term president… if they had a primary instead of forcing K Harris on us …. If they had picked a centrist vp candidate that would have shown a move towards the political middle… none of this happened; That’s why we have Trump ; and until the Dems move to the middle and show they mean it … or a centrist 3rd party is formed….im afraid the gifting to the Trumpican party will continue.

I agree with everything you said.

Does not change the fact, Trump got the outcome he wanted.

I have been going to the US for more than 20 years via land.

Both entering and exiting from either side there is only one check by the country you are entering.

US Customs when you enter U.S.

and Canadian Customs when you enter Canada. No exit customs.

i am guessing both countries have agreed to do this since having double check on each side would be too crazy. Now imagine they had to stamp the passports every time.

that said I am fairly certain that the two side have their system link in terms of databasing people coming and going.

Sure, but really it was mostly inflation and crappy economy because of inflation.  Most of other elections swung to the non incumbent.  Not to say Dems weren't completely incompetent and shot themselves in the foot multiple times.  But Republicans also had a non-primary with no one other than Haley willing or able to challenge the convicted felon, so it is what it is.  I'd be surprised if a woman makes the R nomination in my lifetime.  Heck there's talk of the Republicans wanting to repeal the amendment that gave women the vote.

Apologies for the off-topic, but I'm curious.   How well known is 1984 to a typical European?  FYI, 1984 is required reading at most high school's English curriculum in the U.S., AFAIK.  I'm not sure if I would've picked up those concepts had I been in a different educational system.  Would be interested to hear from those in other parts of the world.  TIA.

Addition:

More curious if these concepts are even taught under authoritarian educational systems, especially from non-Western countries.

Orwell was an Engishman, just about every literate Brit I've met has read or at least heard of 1984

Orwell definitely is having a Renaissance lately and not in a good way. I think 1984 is probably the most important book of the 20th  century.

Everyone in my generation read this book in school. We also discussed it in history class pertaining to then current events.

Trump is a master in applying the doublethink concept imo.

@nsx5200,

Same here as what @LC and @Spekulatius said, but as a Dane.

I read Danish translation of 'Animal farm' as curriculum in elementary school, in Danish, eighth or nineth year, I think ['Animal farm' was in the Danish translation translated to 'Kammerat Napoleon' in Danish, which again translates back to English by 'Comrade Napoleon']. 💡

I've read '1984' translated to Danish in Danish curriculum in high school.

If this cease-fire actually takes hold, how will this be spun against the Trump administration? It should have been a better deal for Ukraine? I'm not MAGA, but I do believe in giving him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully it works out.

Why does it need spun?  It’s potentially an end which is good.  There may be a bitter taste depending on how everything pans out but it’s a start.
