DUI thinks Reds got the Epstein files in his home office and won’t release them…waiting for Luke to let me know the course of action needed in response to a purported literature riddled birthday card….in between there’s a few that think this really only comes down to choosing open borders instead of purported(by the same groups that are like 1/90 on these types of reports) pedos…oh and then the types that are not falling for the manufactured outrage bc of the fact that some Ukrainian chick or a bunch of little kids getting murdered is something that “no one would care about” if it weren’t for right wing media! Well you could start by actively calling for release of the files and proof of innocence or guilt instead of defending every action to not release. You could call your congressperson and Senator to ask them to support the release of the files. The more the groundswell of support for the release rises and the defense of it gets harder and harder, the more politicians will choose self survival and support the release. As we get closer to midterms and these congresspeople understand that this is an albatross to their re-election the more the truth comes out. But even if you actively do nothing, continuing to deny allegations and support potential pedophilia regardless of your policy views is wrong and character destroying.

And yet again he lied.

Thank you, these are good examples of action people can take. You could also make awareness in your neighborhood, talk with neighbors and friends, support new political movements that have more respectable leaders, there are many opportunities to work towards change, as difficult it may seem. I am observing the situation from europe and it deeply worries me to see these people in the government, there are so many highly educated, well meaning, well-mannered women and men that could do a better job and be a better example for our children.

Im sure the "righting of the ship" is just a few more people complaining about Trump away....

Im sure the "righting of the ship" is just a few more people complaining about Trump away.... You know Gregmal, the case you are making could also come from a poor african man from zimbabwe: For decades, Mugabe’s party, ZANU-PF, maintained dominance through a mix of patronage, intimidation, and election manipulation. Many citizens grew skeptical that open criticism or protest could meaningfully change the system, since opposition parties were often harassed and elections widely perceived as unfair. As a result, political engagement often took the form of choosing the “less bad” faction within the ruling elite, rather than expecting true reform through opposition politics. Obviously with that mindset nothing will change.

That's a great suggestion! I talk to people all the time to let them know what a fantastic time this is with Biden/Harris given the boot - and Trump in charge. It is indeed wonderful. I wish the best for Europe that a populist takes control instead of the elites that ignore the average European citizen. Nothing like jailing your citizens for tweets!

Every grant proposal requires a section discussing how people will be discriminated against based on race If your proposal's discrimination section isn't properly racist, you won't get funding and are basically fucked as a professor Most professor jobs postings in both SFU and Canada say that they will discriminate against candidates based on race. Universities discriminate on the basis of race for entry into schools, particularly grad schools If you argue against racist policies as a professor, you will be unable to be promoted, and potentially run out of town. As someone with less power on campus, you're more screwed. You can pretend everything is just fine. But the consequences are push-back from the right, defunding of eduction, and various bad things like that. I used to be a strong CBC supporter, and now I believe in defunding it because it's now clearly a net-negative to Canada. If universities continue the same way, they will be too, and I'm the type of guy who, 20 years ago, might have given 80% of his estate to universities. There are terrible consequences from installing broken ideologies in your population. Facism creeps in slowly, via the Universities before polluting all of our institutions. While parents are busy making a living, these insidious movements are underway for years before the parents notice. It's called "The long march through the institutions" where they walk right in the front door and take them over. We are trying to rid ourselves of this cancer in the USA - and I hope Canada and Europe the best in making the right decision for themselves. Facism and their offspring (DEI, CRT) will destroy what makes America the land of opportunity. It's definitely dying now here. Edited September 9, 2025 by cubsfan

Protecting your family from lunatics is not a crime. - The first wave of deportees have been CRIMINALS and those with standing orders of removal. -A country has the RIGHT and the OBLIGATION to protect their CITIZENS from law breakers. Give it another shot @cwericb - you are way too smart for this.

I will leave it to others with greater legal knowledge, but my understanding is that one issue is that much of the evidence gathered in such a large investigation doesn't meet the necessary legal standard, whether because it’s incomplete, circumstantial, or otherwise insufficient. Making such details public would unfairly tarnish the reputations of individuals who may not have been involved in criminal activity. It could lead to defamation, legal challenges, or even complicate future prosecutions.

The determination to release is at the discretion of the AG (who is Trumps puppet). Trump campaigned on the promise to release the files and now is doing everything in his power to prevent it. Wonder why....
