I'd say this: If the US and Israel can shoot down missiles with missiles (the equivalent of hitting bullets with bullets) - then they can clear mines.

That's kind of hilarious.  You clearly didn't watch this. We're on a value investing board.  Price is what you pay, value is what you get.  Right now with mines and drones Iran is buying dollars for pennies.  To counter that the US are sending multi million dollar cruise missiles to knock out 10k drones.  Mines cost them nothing, but they cost the US and global economy probably billions.  That's some serious cigar butt investing for the Iranian regime.  The chances that even a regime change could prevent pockets of the 1million republican army from continuing to deploy these guerilla tactics are slim.  ie... of course they can clear the mines and of course they can hit missiles with missiles, that's not the point.

Hmmm...let's just say he's playing checkers...and either he's about to jump 4 pieces or Iran is going to jump his 4 pieces!

But he's definitely not playing chess.  Some of the Generals may be playing chess...but Trump is not playing chess.  Trump plays hunches.

Cheers!

Careful... you're discussing a very stable genius...

You're kidding right?

I'm going to use a $500K missile to shoot down a $30K drone - in order save a $70M tanker.

And you don't think the military is coming up with cheaper options?

There are interesting remedies in place.

The US Navy has great mine detection capabilities.

You'll get some drones that get through of course.

But the focus on launch sites will eventually deal with much of those.

Trump is now requesting that those nations needing oil participate with the passage of oil vessels - adding naval defense.  That's a very interesting turn of events - if they would like to assure their oil.  We will see if they pick a side or watch their economies suffer.  Pretty smart move if you ask me.  I can't wait to see what France, S Korea, China, UK etc do..

The two ships used for mine detection were decommissioned by Trump. Now the US is stuck trying to retrofit much larger ships that are not a good fit for the job.

There is no way to get regime change without a significant boots on the ground  when you have 90m citizens. This situation could (and is) getting out of hand. This whole move fast break things approach is likely to bite the US in the ass big time and make the situation worse for the Iranian people.

There isn’t an expert out there who think support for the current regime by the Iranian people was north of ~10%….but how exactly will the people rise up? They have no means and barely even have fresh water. They have no weapons, no underground funding, gorilla groups, etc. time will tell but I see no way this is a “win.” For the US and allies. We would have been better finding another solution to the weapons grade uranium. Israel certainly is clever enough…

The solution for Iran to give up its 60% enriched uranium was on the table two weeks ago. (before the war) Due to US / Israel infinite wisdom, that deal no longer exists at this time.

what proof do you have? We all live in a society where we are innocent until proven guilty. If you make such bold statement, please back it up.

Maybe in North America we are innocent until proven guilty. Not sure being innocent until proven guilty applies in Iran without “proper” connections. … but with connections anything goes

I am not sure why you are surprised at the level of corruption of the regime.

Any praetorian guard like entity that tries to stay disengage from the world, does benefit from that disengagement.

Think of it the daily need of 92 million people, import/exports, the very lucrative oil trade all controlled by the praetorian guard, their families and the elite.

PS : I’ll say this about Qassem Suleimani, he was the only one who was not corrupt. He didn’t have anything nor wanted anything. He was very capable and the regime was not able to replace him after his death.

Captain Chaos dropping truth bombs on truth social earlier  - if only he had military and intelligence apparatus that could have told him this likely little pickle ahead of time?

It’s not like he’d gone toe to toe with the lowly Houthis a few months ago in the same region and discovered it was impossible to stop them terrorizing US ships using military force alone, had thrown in the towel and signed a deal with them! 😉

Cant make this stuff up.

We have already destroyed 100% of Iran's Military capability, but it's easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are”

lol.  Can make this stuff up. Indeed.

That is the whole point. That is why Iran never went back to pre-1979 large conventional force.

for the record, their GCC neighbours were never friends of Iran. All their neighbours allowed US/Israel launch attacks from their soil. Please stop with your lies and propaganda.

The GCC neighbours will never have alignment with Israel due to the fact their government are war criminals. (They will do business but never have alignment. )

Twisted words; just like the rest of your comments.  Your brethren will never see the light of day if they want to survive.  Nice way to live and manage a terrorist regime; pop out of your hole and....boom.  All their days are numbered.  As for Bibi?  He's doing just fine thanks.  The weather in Israel this time of year is lovely and the sun shines every day off the sparkling Mediterranean.

Denmark is fairly good place to live, but far from perfect in some aspects.

An example of Danish immigrant policy when it's worst, some paper pusher making 'mechanical' decisions with the head up where the sun doesen't shine :

Fyens Stifttidende [March 15th 2026] : Nurse deported to war in Iran shortly after husband's death: - Our lives are completely shattered

An Iranian nurse went to Denmark to help with the nursing shortage and landed a job as a social worker at a nursing home. Yet authorities are now sending her family back to war-torn Iran.

Mehrnoosh Emadi had just buried her husband when she was told that she must leave Denmark and return to war-torn Iran by May 5th.

- - - o 0 o - - -

A widowed nurse with kids!? A tax paying, to society contributing, educated nurse, filling a meaningsfull job where there is labor shortage?! - WT*?!

- I hope this triggers Mehrmosh gets the help she needs, and / or some politician steps in here.

If I was a lawyer, I would take this case pro bono.

I found her address, not far from here, and her phone number, I will likely text her monday to ask if she stands alone with this. At least I can refer her to the right person in town.

What do you mean by that? They are already there, all of them!, naturally! 😅

Wow, now you are threatening death on individuals? - a new low.

However in non-CNN/Fox news, the Iranian government were all walking the streets talking selfies with the millions of people of the country on Friday. I wonder who would you choose to take a selfie with? - the president? Foreign minister? How about the secretary of the supreme national council? Maybe the chief justice? - they were all available! (I’ll attach the whole gang so you can save as your favourites)

Another day passes and he is still MIA - where is he? - Germany? Which hole, oops I mean bunker?  🙂

Sure you didn't take those pictures yourself?  Continue to defend and excuse the rodents who still rule Iran.  They'll live and die underground in their own feces.  Hope they have a nice afterlife along with the martyrs they paid for.  Meanwhile if you find any more morally bankrupt folks, you can start a Mullah fan club.

Whatever it is, it is retribution, for all those people in the 2014 protest had acid thrown to their face by the regime goons

Terrible event, unfortunately the perpetrators were not convicted of the crime. The president spoke very harshly about this event and setup an investigation and was going to bring down the death penalty for whoever was convicted.

In the US a similar event happened last year in Savannah, Georgia on December 10, 2025, at Forsyth Park.  No one was also convicted.

I hope all these girls can recover mentally and physically.  - my prayers goes out to them!

You wouldn't recognize a fact about the Middle East if it introduced itself to you.  After 5 decades your country finally has a chance.  No thanks to people like you.

I disagree.

That rosy picture is only possible if the regime falls, and new government takes over. Then we are off to the races.

Abraham Accords in the current context with Saudi joining or not joining is not relevant. That is more of a Palestinian issue and Saudi sensitivity around it. I understand Fox News fantasies about it. But fantasies doesn’t mean reality.

Saudi Arabia has a defense treaty signed few months ago with the U.S. and has a military defense pact with nuclear armed Pakistan. Neither of which helped it.

In the current context, although they and UAE are angry at Tehran, they also aware of who pulled the trigger first, against their better judgment. They were not interested in these wars; they had a functional relationship (all bit frosty at time) with Tehran. their focus has shifted to their economies in the past 8 years or so, not empire building.

Then someone from Washington throws a grenade, and goes off whistling.

The gulf states are huge losers because the aura of stability from the region is gone. UAE and other states vision was to be a finance/ trade /tourisms hub with the underlying basis of being tax haven and modern infrastructure. Now all these tax refuges return back or are getting evacuated to their home countries and it’s unclear if they will come back. In the end it’s safety first and if a place isn’t safe, then taxes matter very little.

Stability in the region was nothing but an aura.  The Iranian regime has now demonstrated who they truly are.
